   What a hidden gem in St. Augustine! The food was fresh and delicious! We even canceled our plans on Wednesday and went a second time while visiting for a week. The entire team is friendly and engaging. We recommend the fried green tomatoes and the pomegranate martini, to name a few!

   Food took forever to get to the table, despite only being half full. Everyone of the 4 of us had our dishes WAY over salted. Never had such a salty meal. Not steak knives for our $60 steak specials because they “were washing them”.

   We sat outside on a Thursday early evening . We started with cocktails and appetizers. Cocktails were very good but weak and not a generous pour. Which I found surprising since the cocktails were at a premium price. We ordered a charcuterie board and mixed olives. The olives came out, no plates to allow for sharing at our table. There was an abundance of marinated olives and very few olives. The ration was 80% large garlic cloves and 20% small chopped olives. The olives were overpowered by the taste of garlic. Totally not worth it. The charcuterie board was never brought out and the server coincidentally never checked on us between the drinks and serving the entree . When the entree came out, I stated that we haven’t received the charcuterie board and she said,”Oh, that’s strange,” and walked off. It was early, around 5, we had a show to go to, so I am guessing no one in the kitchen wanted to make the board. The trout was excellent, as was the burgers and fried green tomatoes platter. We ended with bacon Carmel cheesecake. An obscenely large piece of of bacon adorned the cheesecake. It was an interesting dessert. The charcuterie board was removed from the bill. The cost of the dinner was typical for eating downtown. We have been there a few times , and will return , but there is always an issue with something left out of our order, EVERY SINGLE VISIT! We enjoyed sitting outside, as the humidity was low and the weather was comfortable . The horse and carriages are on this street’s route , so if you don’t want to be a part of the scenery , sit inside.

    I’ve been to Forgotten Tonic twice now and the food was excellent both times. I’m also a big fan of the decor/ambiance. My dad had ordered the chef select steak which came not cooked to preference. The chefs did an excellent job rectifying the situation and the manager apologized and offered us free dessert. The manager was extremely professional and friendly. Definitely bring a jacket cause we were freezing in there. Truly my only issue BOTH times I’ve been, has been the service! The first time I went our waitress (I hate to be rude) seemed kind of brain dead. I was there right as they opened and the experience took so long because she was a sloth. This past experience, our waitress had a snarky attitude that wasn’t pleasant to deal with. When you’re paying those prices for a delicious meal it would be nice to also receive service to match.

    Great spot on an iconic street. Food was delicious and the drinks creative and different. A couple of glasses of house wine to finish dinner, great value. Yes, there are many great restaurants in St Augustine, this is in the top 10. Haven’t been, give it a try. Go early, grab a spot at the bar or make reservations, it’s a small venue.

    The menu was easy to read and understand. Our server was most attentative to other tables and took time to return to our table. Maybe I'm just being too pickky. We were presented with a delectable slice of chocolate cake to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and it was indeed delicious. We enjoy the Forgotten Tonic and make it a must visit each time we're in St. Augustine, and have recommended it to many people.

    Had been to FT a year ago and remember it being a bit more of a memorable experience. Food was very good this time (rainbow trout, blackened redfish sandwich and delicious Caesar salad) but the real surprise was the 2.99 % surcharge added to the check for the “benefits of the staff”. The bottom of the check and small sign in front of restaurant alerts you but it is easy to miss ! After getting the bill and asking waiter about it , he did remove the surcharge. He was not even clear on how to explain the reason. After spending over 140$ on dinner and leaving a generous tip, we chose to opt out of the added surcharge which was never mentioned other than the bottom of the check or small sign by the hostess stand. Just wanted to alert since it is removable and easy to miss.

    We have eaten at this establishment in the past and it had been nothing short of a 5-star rating. However, our recent experience was disappointing. We were seated at the last table by the bar. The seat cushions need to be replaced as we were sitting about 6” or more lower than expected. In addition, the same side of the table was next to an employee door that constantly slammed shut due to the spring not having enough tension. All during the service we felt the vibration from the door closing. Our server started off great and then went downhill. I understand this is a tourist town near a university, but there is no excuse for the poor level of service. We ordered the Fried Green Tomato app and drinks. The appetizer was great with a drizzle of a nicely spiced sauce on top of cabbage slaw. We then ordered entrees and side salads. We asked for one of the entrees to be split. Instead of a separate time to eat the salads, all the food was delivered by the kitchen expeditor except for one entree. The entree that we asked to be split wasn’t. I asked the expeditor if the fish entrees he served were split. He said those are definitely not split. I had to also ask for another plate. The waiter didn’t come near the table for at least another 10 minutes. When he finally came back to the table, he said the last entree would be ready soon. Another 10 minutes passed before the last entree was served. The server finally came to our table and I asked for the check and he promptly dropped it off. I quickly reviewed it and placed my credit card on top of the check. The waiter was working all the other tables and then went outside and was talking to people by the front window. after another 10 minutes, I had to get up and go for the bar to cash out my check. The food was excellent, but the service experience was barely 2 stars.

    Mostly a good experience. A couple of the cocktails were nothing special, and I couldn't taste any truffle flavor on the truffle fries.     Located downtown on tiny Aviles Street, Forgotten Tonic is nearby, yet away from all of the crowds on Saint George Street. There are a handful of outside tables, but there’s no view other than up or down the tiny, historic street, with a few shops closed or under renovation. Indoors has a better vibe with an old English tavern feel but modern art hanging on the walls. Our server Phoebe was new, but a delight and knowledgeable about the menu, and she worked hard to give us a great experience. The menu gave our group a full breadth of food options from locally sourced seafood and meat to great vegan dishes (not just appetizers and salad). There are ample wine and creative cocktail choices, including non-alcoholic. Phoebe recommended the butter cake dessert, and she was right. It’s moist and delicious, with a citrus flavor and fresh berry garnish. Overall, a great dinner. Kudos to the kitchen and bar!
