Really good food mostly, some food prices were wild...like $20 for a tiny pufferfish small plate, and a gnochhi entree for $28 that had about 9 gnocchi in it?!
Braised goat was boring
Beef tartare was excellent, trout was excellent, chorizo was excellent.
Nice wine list too
WOW! We tried this restaurant on a whim, and were quite impressed with food and service.
In today’s world of masks and social distancing, they did a wonderful job.
But the food was done best.
We had 4 small plates and shared a sandwich, plus desert, and were impressed with every plate.
Will definitely tell others and be back.
Menu is very, very limited. Not a great beer list considering it’s part of Burial Brewing. I think we got 6 gnocchis in our $28 plate.
The food is excellent, just as we expected. We have been patrons of the Burial family since the beginning and were really excited to finally be able to dine at Forestry Camp. The hostess cake across as warm and friendly when she sat us. Our server was nice enough. We had the ricotta gnocchi as well as the sunburst trout and lentil salad. The cocktails were made with generous proportions.
The reason we are not able to recommend the restaurant is because of what happened at the end of our meal. We ordered one more cocktail and paid the check in the meantime. Very soon after the cocktail was delivered, the hostess came to our table and asked us to leave. It was cited that they needed to turn the table for other guests. As someone who has been in the food industry for over 20 years, this is a concept I make a big effort to support, it is completely understandable. In this instance it was very strategic for the staff to wait until after the check was signed, with a generous tip, to ask us to vacate. We ended up leaving the full cocktail there as we did not care to be there anymore. I would recommend that the staff indicate at the beginning of the meal any expectations, especially in light of the pandemic, so guests may plan accordingly. This was the first time in my life I've ever been asked to vacate a table, it does not leave one with a good feeling. We would have understood, but again, this was handled very poorly. We were even excited to join for the Burnpile event, if we could get tickets, but we both are disinterested in returning and will not recommend this restaurant.
Food was a waste of money and cocktails nothing to talk about. It was an experience I wish I did not have and regret not listening to the low star reviews before going. Best food item were the fried potatoes, but charcuterie plate was lackluster, the vegetable sides for the trout were stewed into a incoherent flavorless goo, basque cheesecake was over salted and the fermented grapes (most likely dregs from a sour beer barrel) that went with it were disgusting, the order of the baguette and butter only gets you six small slices of bread, the Gnocchi entree was the size of an appetizer, and when you order a cocktail expect it to be over diluted.
outstanding service and very accommodating, food was delicious!
Very limited menu, but we aren’t picky eaters so we just tried two things that sounded good. We were really hoping they would be excellent because we love Burial so much, but for the cost, there are many more places in avl that you can get a better meal. Service was meh, our appetizer came out at the same time as our entree so we were trying to quickly eat a $20 charcuterie while our food got cold. Maybe it was just a bad experience but I likely Won’t be back.
The atmosphere, drinks, hostess staff, and wait staff were amazing. Unfortunately, the food didn’t have a lot of flavor. There was nothing about it that stood out or that made me want to come back and eat.
You can only have 1 check per table. Very difficult to do with multiple parties. Very limited food menu for lunch. The food was not worth the money and the selection of beers on tap were limited as well.
Great service & amazing fresh, delicious food. Highly recommend!!
I absolutely loved my visit to Forestry Camp. This was my second time in three weeks and it was a lovely experience. I haven't been in the public realm since the pandemic hit, so I was reluctant about going out to eat. The staff at Forestry Camp has all the safety measures in place to provide for a safe dining experience. The staff is lovely and the food is beautifully prepared from fresh ingredients. We dined on the roof and enjoyed eating several small plates along with some wonderful Burial pale ales. As a crafts person, I so appreciate the love and care that went into the food and drink that we enjoyed during our visit. Thank you for a truly special evening!
we went because it was advertised as a pop up brunch. The menu was the regular lunch menu, no brunch items. Since I wanted brunch type food nothing interested me. The food we finally ordered was good. Even our waitress said she thought it was going to be brunch. I almost left to go elsewhere.
What an eclectic establishment!Crazy good food and lots of great beer, wine and cocktails. Love every thing about it really.
This was the second time in a week that we enjoyed Forestry Camp. They are doing a great job with reservations and social distancing. Hand sanitizer is on all tables. AND the food is amazing. We will be back soon!
My wife and I had a great time. The staff was amazing and knowledgeable.
My friends and I had a fantastic time, we’ll be back and will be recommending it!
Great food and great service! Cute atmosphere and fantastic beer and cocktails
Dinner was delicious! You cannot go wrong! The ambiance was perfect with the lights and scenery.
Delicious food, great service and great drinks. They took care of us the minute we showed up to the minute we left. I can't recommend the charcuterie plate enough.
You have to realize you are paying premium for the local meats butchered on site, which is definitely worth supporting. The food was good but oh so expensive, I felt it really should have blown me away for the price but it did not. The charcuterie board was $18, yet barely enough to share. It was my first visit and I expected to be seated on the attached raised patio I saw in photos but was unpleasantly surprised at the picnic tables sat to the side, but I know COVID seating has changed this all and they are doing the best they can in that aspect. It took us all awhile to decide on wine and food and I think our waitress forgot about us, we were there for 2.5 hours total. The wine and beer list is obviously a draw and everything we had was fantastic and the staff very knowledgeable about the wine and made 2 excellent recommendations. Overall, I would recommend but only myself visit on a rare occasion.
Everything was excellent from the beer to the food to the service. The manager, Tyler, came to our table and gave us a complementary bottle of their Camp Spritz. He then chatted for a while and even gave us recommendations on to go offerings from the shop downstairs. Highly recommend this place.
Fantastic experience. Food and Beer were excellent as was the staff. Highly recommend everything about FC and Burial
Delicious food and amazing drinks! Spacious outdoor seating.
Amazing as always!! One of Asheville’s best. Always trying new things and never had something here that I didn’t love.
We had a date night here to enjoy the Acid Week pairings. The beef skewers & sour cherry beer were out of this world! We also shared the small fried potato plate, and I’ll be dreaming about it forever. SO delicious. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this place!
Very COVID Safe - Awesome Food & Service. This is our third time dining here, and we will be back!
Good outdoor seating, excellent service, interesting history of property. Good beer, wine and drink selection, Burial brews included.
We went their to celebrate a birthday. I really liked the venue and overall ambiance. We sat outside under a tent due to the Covid restrictions which was fine by us as it was a pleasant evening outside. The food, however, was very disappointing. I ordered two dishes the croquettes and the salad. The croquettes were fine, but fried so hard to mess up. The salad was very bland. Basically lettuce and cheese with vinegarette. It tasted like raw lettuce. I tried some other dishes of family members and they were also very bland. I would expect for the price we paid for all the food to be great, but sadly I was very disappointed. I would probably go back to drink and enjoy the ambiance, but not to eat.
We went for lunch on the weekend and just had a great time. We ordered several items and every single one was a hit. The shishito peppers were perfectly seasoned. The oysters escabeche were delicious, icy cold, and tart. The bean salad was excellent, especially the artichokes.
Haven't had a lot of headcheese before, but that was the best I've ever had. Best also: chicken salad sandwich, BLT, and olive oil cake (amazing!)
Overall, just great food and care that couldn't have matched better with the outdoor environment and weather. We ate so much, but nothing felt heavy.
Outstanding food in a casual atmosphere. Absolutely amazing for the price we paid! I would highly recommend the 2011 Tempranillo. Worth the extra dollars for that year. It paired well with our whole trout and croquettes. Great experience if you love European food and wine like we do.
Everything was great! It was our first time dining here, and we will absolutely be back. The camp is a cool space, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We are from Chicago, but are in Asheville frequently. This will definitely stay on our go to list!
In COVID days, this restaurant delivered a good experience with excellent food and good service. We had the charcuterie, a salad, and the dry aged steak each was tasty and creatively presented.
Food was ok - beef was fatty and grisly. We love Burial beers - especially the stouts - but they had only a couple of IPAs. Most beers were from other breweries- so very limited. Overall very disappointing experience.
Excellent social distancing outdoor dining. Masks required. Good sanitation. Interesting menu. Liked the appetizers and salad. Not crazy about our sandwich choices. Entrees served others looked very good. Will return and give it another try. We want to like it as everything else was excellent, including the drinks.
Fantastic space and doing a really great job with Covid protocols, keeping staff and customers safe.
Food and service were wonderful
First time visit, unfortunately due to covid we didn't get a chance to experience the full Forestry Camp. Staff very friendly and helpful. The trout was excellent, the ribeye steak could be better. Will be back.
Forestry Camp is the first restaurant we've been to for table service since May. Seating is outdoors, with tables safely distanced. Ordering is paperless (you'll need a QR code reader), and staff are masked and gloved. Guests wear masks when they are away from their tables. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. My husband and I had drinks and split the smoked trout croquettes, which were excellent. He loved his pork chop with local fresh vegetable salad, but my braised goat with gnocchi and Swiss chard was incredible, pandemic or not!
Elegant solutions for socially distanced dining and excellent food. Great wait staff!
Incredible, fresh and inspired menu with local twists. Cod fritters, the tortilla, shitake skewers and snails were all delicious and the atmosphere was chic but rustic and homey. All around A plus venue that I look forward to returning to often. Great place for a group meal or small party! Wonderful service as well.
