Opening the doors in 2019 in downtown San Mateo, California. Foreigner offers a mix of casual/upscale brunch, merienda/ afternoon tea, and dinner combined with our rustic/industrial vibe and friendly staff - we aim to give our guests an experience that transports them to a place of relaxation. We want our space to be a channel for people to come together; no matter what race, color, culture, or ethnicity they are from.

Our food concept is New-American with a strong focus on showcasing techniques from all around the world. Our menu changes by the season so that we can offer the freshest ingredients; our cuisine will surely capture your Californian pallet! It is our hope to encapsulate our diverse community into our food and service. Come in for a warm welcome and friendly company!

We DO NOT take reservations for brunch.
We are taking afternoon tea reservations from Mondays - Sundays, 2:30 to 3 PM.
We are taking dinner reservations from Wednesdays - Sundays, 5 to 9 PM.

Well it started out a bit slow. We had that experience where you are the only ones there and the waiters just seems to forget you. Once we got going it was fine. Food was really good. I guess I should have read that most of the reviews were for Brunch. We were the only party there(4) for dinner, until another couple came later. Half the tables were not set with tablecloths, so that felt a bit odd. It was a Sunday and Easter so perhaps they are a bit busier other nights. I do hope they do better for dinner, as the food was really good. The chicken both the Piccata and Marsala lovely.

Neighborhood gem! Foreigner is well known for it's brunch but I recommend going for dinner. Chef Nick makes delicious food and the staff is friendly and attentive.
