    We went for brunch on a Sunday. Everything was great. It’s so nice to go to a restaurant that has been around for a long time because they know how to make great food and provide great service. Foreign Cinema has been successful for many years because they do all the little things flawlessly. The tuna ceviche was probably the best I’ve ever had. We also had the pastrami sandwich. It was incredible, although I’d call it more of a brisket sandwich than the type of pastrami I know when I used to work at a kosher deli in NY. Bottom line: it was delicious. The service was professional. I’m glad we chose Foreign Cinema.

    We celebrated Father’s Day with brunch at Foreign Cinema. We were seated in the courtyard, and the weather was perfect for a leisurely Sunday celebration. The service was exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely celebratory. We ordered the Champagne French rolled omelette and the Heavenly scramble, which were phenomenal. Our server recommended the Butterscotch pot de crème for dessert, and we are so glad we listened. It was velvety-smooth, intensely flavorful, and topped with just the right amount of whipped cream and sea salt—a perfect finish to the meal. Foreign Cinema continues to prove why it’s one of San Francisco’s most beloved dining institutions. Whether it’s for Father’s Day or any special moment, this place makes you feel like the occasion truly matters.

    This SF institution never disappoints, and this visit was exceptional. Celebrating a birthday, the restaurant had a birthday card waiting at the table and was acknowledged both upon arrival and at seating by the staff. Aimee was our server and she was the epitome of excellence. She expertly and warmly guided us through our dining decisions resulting in a wonderful lunch. The Oysters are always a highlight to the well balanced menu offering some mainstay favorites as well as seasonal offerings.

    Had a lovely anniversary dinner at Foreign Cinema! One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. I love the ambiance and the pork chop was incredible. Would highly recommend and they gave us a nice treat for celebrating our anniversary :)

    Amazing experience! Atmosphere was A plus. I started with two styles of Oysters , the Gema and Bisou which were outstanding that then ordered the waygu which was a perfect pairing to my glass of Cabernet. No complaints!

    Not for those with a tight budget in mind, but more than worth the price of admission if you have the means...got to watch Mrs Doubtfire after driving by the house earlier in the day. Very cool!!

    We are glad we went to experience Foreign Cinema. We had a tasty meal and appetizers. It’s not a place to enjoy oysters from our point of view. It’s a lovely design, but the service team was not coordinated well when we visited and it is extremely loud, very hard to have a conversation even with someone right next to you, let alone across the table. Again, we’re glad we went, but we won’t be back.
