Had a great meal here! Every dish we ate was spot on, beautifully prepared, seasoned and perfectly balanced. Had a late 10pm table but didn't feel rushed and food was fast and service excellent. Movie in the backdrop was also very cool. Would highly recommend
Appetisers and seafood was nice
Went here with my boyfriend for my birthday dinner, and it was definitely very romantic. The ambiance was great, the lights outside were so pretty, and the heaters made it okay to dine outside in January in SF. The drinks were great! Loved the selection offered. The food was so delicious, and definitely lived up to the hype. We'll definitely be back again!
Our family of 4 enjoyed a Friday night post-new year dinner in the main dining room (too chilly to watch a movie that night). We started off with cocktails and warm bread. Then we proceeded direct into the Charcuterie platter, Hamachi crudo, and Grilled Monterey calamari. For dinner, the 4 of us shared the following entrees...Five spiced duck breast, Kobe flat iron steak, and Seared sea scallops. The food was great and fulfilling!
Although the food was excellent, the wait service was spotty and infrequent. Water glasses were not attended to and a request for bread went unfulfilled. If it weren’t for the stellar bus boy, the waiter’s behavior could not be tolerated.
Had such a wonderful experience at foreign cinema! Everything went above and beyond my expectations. Thank you for such a wonderful evening.
Stellar food with friendly and efficient service. Always a good meal, this topped their excellent norm.
From the stone faced hostesses to the rushed waiter and bus staff, our experience was really not very impressive. The food was good enough, but really, given the choice of SF's amazing restaurants with energetic, welcoming, enthusiastic staffs, why would anyone go to Foreign Cinema anymore?
I love this restaurant, it’s a beautiful space however 3 things didn’t work...
1. We sat in the mezzanine- this is a concrete dead spot and has no ambiance. Don’t sit there.
2. Worst of all the food simply wasn’t good. This had not been my experience in the past (~2 yrs ago). We had several starters that were not particularly tasty - cod, melted cheese and olives. For mains we had duck which was tough and lacked flavor (the sides were good), the risotto was bland. It was all just meh!
3. Lastly we moved to the bar to try soak up some of the ambiance downstairs and there was a smell at the bar that was simply atrocious. It’s smelt like fungus ?? We all agreed it was just bad.
So in summary I do love this place but the food was bad and for a restaurant that’s not good.
Great wine list. All of the dishes were tasty and distinct. Excellent service. Highly recommended. Still wonderful after almost 20 years!
Le lieu est intéressant, belle ambiance. Le service est bien mais froid et sans valeur ajoutée.
La nourriture plutôt bon copieux manque un peu de raffinement
La carte des vins originale et très remplie !
