Classic restaurant with consistently serving amazing food!

Foreign Cinema is one of our favorite restaurants in SF (and anywhere). The outdoor ambiance is lovely, with hanging lights and heat lamps to keep you warm. The film playing on the brick wall in the background only adds to the ambiance. We’ve never experience less than perfect service, and with a constantly rotating menu, we always get at least one new dish - and we’ve never been disappointed!

Last hurrah before lockdown

Thank you for another perfect meal. So glad to celebrate my bestie getting a new job today. Food was amazing and the service was divine. From the host, to our server to the person helping out with waters, bussing etc... So grateful.

It was great overall . It was recorded by our friends who live in San Francisco. We visited from IL. I felt that there should be more vegetarian dishes.

Hadn't been to Foreign Cinema in about 7 years and in terms of quality, nothing has changed, this is a great restaurant! Friendly, professional staff and the outdoor seating area is wonderful. We ordered the fish stew and the fried chicken, both of which were delicious and perfectly balanced. If I were to share constructive criticism I would say; I would appreciate more broth in the stew and more slaw with the chicken. The cranberry sauce that came with the chicken was the best I have ever had! The only not so great thing was the 'birthday cake' dessert. It tasted dry and ordinary. Nevertheless, we had a great dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

The food wasn't it and was extremely overpriced! Not worth the price, at all! However, with that being said, the experience was lovely and I loved the outdoor patio seating area.

It was so amazing to be in such a beautiful and warm due to warmers (in November) place. The food was amazing and our server was extremely knowledgeable.

Terrific experience! tasty food in a safe, beautiful environment that gives an intimate yet social vibe. WHat else does one need this year? We are extremely grateful you are open and continue to delight!

The ambience was great at this restaurant. Outdoor seating with heat lamps made it cozy. The food was good, however I would give the service a few less points. Despite having a reservation we had to wait 20-30 minutes for our table to be ready. However, I would recommend others to try the restaurant and enjoy a rather unique experience.

Great good and ambience but tiny food portions. Don't like it when spending $100 per person for dinner and still returning home not fulfilled.

Host was so kind to seat us at his favorite table. Our sever was amazing and the ambiance was perfect. Everyone followed social distancing and COVID-19 better than any restaurant we’ve been to during the pandemic.

The outdoor patio is really lovely and plenty warm with the space heaters. The food was delicious and the service was great, with very friendly staff. It was a real treat!

Mediocre at best. A time limit of 2 hrs per table, regardless of how much $$ you're spending there. We were essentially told to leave after 2 hrs exactly. Ridiculous, really.

Great food and great atmosphere. During covid it was the most normal and THE most enjoyable meal I’ve had in 6 months.

I went to Boulevard the week before and this was better food than Boulevard.

There was about a 30-45 minute gap between appetizers and entrees on a Tuesday night (reservation was for 730, we were sat early at about 715 and ordered right away but didn’t receive entrees until 830). Food was good though. Other than the long wait for food (which may be due to less staff in the kitchen and Covid), our server was very nice and did a good job. Overall, experience was not really bad, only just ok and left me slightly underwhelmed compared to my past experiences. Regardless, I still love the aesthetic and will return to try again because I understand the pandemic may be the source of the issues.

Perfect for a date night. It was raining while we were there, but we were warm and dry under their canopy, and service was outstanding.

Foreign Cinema has always been outstanding. But now, in COVID, they're still bringing their A-game. The space is perfect for outdoor safe dining and the experience feels like the 'before times'. Go. They've got it going!

One of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. The service was horrible and the food wasn’t great. Even when we asked to speak to the manager the waitress came and asked why do we want to speak to the manager!!!

They gave us the mezz so not ideal ambiance for the cinematic experience but as always food was phenombomb

First time dining at Foreign Cinema during COVID and it was spectacular as always … thoughtful and attentive service, fabulous food, and wonderful, cozy ambience.

A great patio space with awesome cocktails and brunch. Not cheap but worth it.

The food and service was 5 star -- the french rolled omelet was perfection. A little chilly outside, but the staff quickly accommodated us at another table that was less exposed and much more comfortable.
