My partner and I went to Foreign Cinema to celebrate our anniversary and had the best experience! The ambiance of the courtyard was absolutely perfect and romantic, the hostess was super friendly, and the food was outstanding!
Additionally, the courtyard was cozy and well-heated although it was a cold night, we were perfectly comfortable the entire time!
They made us feel super special for our occasion and we wouldn't have wanted to celebrate anywhere else!
Unforgettable night. The food was amazing. The staff all wished us a happy anniversary. Ambiance was 10/10. Couldn’t recommend enough.
Food is always fantastic! I love coming here as it never disappoints.
Great food & lovely ambience. Truly a gem in the Mission district of SF. Will be looking forward to my next visit and trying the other dishes they have to offer.
Best service I’ve had in SF for a long time and excellent food. Our attentive server actually filled our wine and water glasses as needed. Unfortunately, this is not the norm in most restaurants in SF. She was attentive and helpful. One of the nicest outdoor restaurants options in San Francisco.
A San Francisco classic. Excellent service. Get the Pop Tart!
I got the brunch bowl and it was essentially a salad. Very disappointed in the food, but the ambiance was nice.
Partner and I have been to Foreign Cinema multiple times, but this was our best experience yet. Service was fantastic, even for it being quite busy at brunch. The menu changes frequently, and the options we were provided with for brunch (French omelette and crab/shrimp sandwich) were incredibly flavorful and filling. Looking forward to the next time we can visit
This was a great experience. We made last minute (same day) reservations, so were in the dining room instead of the area where we could view the film. The ambiance in the dining area was nonetheless excellent. Excellent food and service, but on the expensive side. Two guests, two glasses of wine, split 1/2 dozen oysters, ceviche appetizers and each ordered main course. Bill plus tip 200. Excellent food quality, variety and taste. Service was friendly and excellent. Floor manager Scott was so open and friendly to accommodate our curiousity of the place.
Amazing experience! The patio is gorgeous, very romantic atmosphere and it's kept nice and warm with an abundance of heat lamps. The food was fantastic as well. We tried the sesame fried chicken, which was delicious. We also had the pork chop, which was so decadent, rich, and tender. We got the ceviche as an appetizer - it was tasty, but very small. Cocktails are also great, especially the jungle cruise. Overall, we loved our time here and would recommend it!
Foreign Cinema was a dream for a catch up date with my friend where we were able to dine al fresco, adequately warmed by heating lamps and secluded from street traffic in a beautiful courtyard. Food was delicious and service great!
FC is our favorite restaurant in SF! Always superb!
Celebrated anniversary here after having COVID for our actual anniversary. Excellent food, drinks, and service all around!
The food is amazing, especially the fried chicken. The staff was very kind and attentive too!
The food was amazing and my wife and I enjoyed the overall experience a lot.
Food portions are very small and not worth the price. Just be aware of that before going. Ambiance is lovely !
Waiter was phenomenal. First night out with a packed house and ambience near pre covid times. Food was amazing, def get the 14 oz steak and the Sesame Chicken .. WOW!
Yummy, expensive, and fun are how I would describe Foreign Cinema. I reserved a table for 4 on a Thurs. evening for a birthday. Every single dish was delicious, service was perfect, and ambiance was amazing . Wouldn't have minded larger portions for the small appetizer plates but the mains were hearty. The "carafe" of wine we ordered was shockingly small (not quite 4 sh-medium pours worth?) however it was very good (the Rioja). Desserts were impossibly delicious. Overall would recommend.
They were so thoughtful. I reserved a table for my wedding anniversary and they received us with a cute card congratulating us and at the end gave us a complimentary dessert with a note. None of this was expected. Such great service. Thanks foreign Cinema!
Always a fantastic experience with beautiful atmosphere and delicious and inventive flavor profiles!!! I’ll definitely be back again soon.
For the projected ambience and price point, I would expect better quality dishes and portion sizes that aren't small. The quality of the food is solid, no question. But the quality of the dishes was OK.
From making a reservation, changing reversations couple of times to the day of the event, it all came out perfect. We arrived 20mins early but they still let us in. Staff was so welcoming, warm and friendly.
We ordered some refreshments. I got the Cinema Paradiso which was so refreshing. We then had appetizers to start while waiting for the rest of the guests. I love the House made Truffle Burrata and Lavender baked goat cheese. Soo good and yummy. Since there were 8 of us, each one got to enjoy diiferent food. I personally ordered Champagne French rolled Omelet and a side of the brown sugar bacon. Twas a perfect combination. I love the way they did the fries coz it’s not oily. My hubby ordered the Steak Frites that came with vegies and fries. We finished off with the profiteroles. What a good way to spend Sunday Brunch.
Four of us went to celebrate my fiance's birthday. I was pleasantly surprised when they handed him a cute birthday card! The food was also amazing and we even had a sommelier come to our table to help us pick out wine. I highly recommend going here for a celebration meal.
Always an Amazing experience!
Great night Great service great food
Great food and great service! Outdoor seating with the movie really adds to the experience. The fried chicken and garganelle pasta were incredibly, highly recommend!
Hands down best brunch menu ever. The steak, the omelets, and the definitive croque monsieur are all excellent. Great cocktail menu and top notch service. 🥂👏🥰
Exceptional food and ambiance. Loved everything.
Been going since it opened. Absolutely, an SF treasure.
food was otherworldly, service was very friendly and made great recommendations
I’ve loved coming to Foreign Cinema over the years— it’s always the restaurant I choose for friends visiting with only 1 meal in SF. Unfortunately, it feels that the prices have been steadily increasing and with the latest price increase, I’m now priced out of the restaurant and will have to find a new go-to. Between the four of us, we had 4 entrees with no appetizers/shared dishes and only water and still spent $50 a person. We typically order more and are more relaxed, ordering anything that looks good on the menu, but didn’t feel comfortable doing that this time.
It's always a fun place to eat! Great food and very nice staff!
Fabulous food, vibe, service and overall experience. You could tell the chef and servers really cared about the food and your experience.
Foreign table has a great ambiance and service. However, I have never had a consistent experience with the food - either food is inadvertently left off dishes or flavors are not done well.
Such a unique environment with great cocktails and amazing food. Definitely an ideal spot for a special celebration!
Horrible experience. We dined for New Year’s Eve and are really disappointed with the whole experience. The food was not up to par with their usual menu and our service was horrible. I love Foreign Cinema but after last night, I will not return. I feel like I wasted money along with choosing to dine with them on such a special evening. I booked months in advance and was so excited but our expectations were not met.
Loved the whole experience! The meal was sublime and service impeccable. The only thing we thought was not to par were the deserts. Everything else was amazing. Will definitely return for a full feature and spread the news “). Thanks
The New Year's Eve menu was 3-course for $160 dollars. I didn't know it was only 3-course when I booked the place, as it wasn't clear at all in the description of the reservation. The food was ok at best, maybe worth a $80-$100 value at other Michelin-star restaurant in SF. With such quality of service and food, $160 is extremely overpriced and I doubt any customer would go back.
