Phenomenal food start to finish. Grilled calamari was flavorful and tender, the wagyu beef had a fantastic sauce and cooked perfectly medium. I didn’t expect to enjoy the coconut birthday cake as much as I did — the Italian buttercream was light and fluffy and cake was moist and airy. Service was attentive and very quick. Can’t wait to come back!
In a word fabulous!
The quality of dishes and ambiance is fantastic. It's where you'll find the best meal in San Francisco!
Staff was attentive, thoughtful, and made us feel welcome. They celebrated with us and we appreciated the kind notes and genuine experience. We will be back.
Everything was 5 stars! We made a reservation from a family member’s suggestion. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was magical with the glow of amber twinkle lights and the movie playing in the background. We will definitely return on our next trip to S.F.
We were excited to go to FC with an out-of-town guest. We were a party of three. They called to ask if we would like to come an hour earlier. We said yes. We still had to wait 20 minutes for our table. They apologized but it would have been nice to comp us a drink or two while we waited at the bar for our table.
The server was great - knowledgeable, friendly, accomodating - and too busy. The pacing of the meal was way off - not sure if that was the kitchen or the server. We got our first course, and then one person got their second course - and then we waited for over a half-hour for the rest of the meal. That was frustrating. When it came, one person got their second course - again. So it was a bit all over the place.
It wasn't easy to get this reservation - next time, I won't try as hard.
The food and general experience here is always great. Their outdoor space is top notch.
They sat us and accommodated our party even though some of us arrived early and our group was arriving at different times. The service was great and they were attentive without being overwhelming. The food was amazing. We were celebrating multiple birthdays and they remembered to put candles in the desserts for us even though I requested this through open table (not at the restaurant). Very happy we our experience.
The service was not great. It may be lack of staff due to Covid.
The food generally was as good as ever but the bacon was seriously
sad and limp even though it tasted pretty good. The black tea was
truly awful. Neither of us drank much of it. The sugar didn't dissolve
so the bitter taste was just too much.
Hopefully things will get better over time.
Good was very good. Customer service was excellent
Upscale cocktails and dishes with a unique patio experience. Very enjoyable for date night. A lot of tables spaced closely together on patio, so if you’re looking for a very quiet or private dinner, try elsewhere. Overall 5/5 experience though!
Worlds best restaurant. A local institution. Chef Andrew came to our table and really made the experience amazing for us. The house mad charcuterie is a must.
Great brunch, good service, good food, great ambience.
Amazing all around! Great ambiance, fabulous food, attentive wait staff. Perfect for a celebration or date night!
Mixed service from friendly to indifferent and slow. Highly recommend the duck. Chicharron was too hard, soup was a small portion. Sea bass was okay, a little watered down on flavor. For the price point, overall experience did not match. If you are seated outside next to the door leading to inside dining, you have a high chance of being repeatedly bumped into.
Always delicious. Always pricey. Wish the outdoor canopy extended further - we were in the uncovered back portion and felt the wind and moisture a lot more than those under the awning.
Foreign Cinema was off its game the night we went for a party. But, the management addressed it promptly and responsibly and we are looking forward to returning.
definitely worth trying out; make sure to visit the bar as well
Lovely dinner for the one day I was in SF reuniting with friends.
Was celebrating a birthday. Overall , a great experience. Staff was friendly. Food was delicious
Excellent food and very nice staff willing to change up dishes for personal taste. Eclectic.
Such an amazing place, well worth the money. Tasty food and awesome experience. Perfect for a date. Also, incredible service.
We were amazed at the atmosphere, lighting and all around ambience. In SF the nights are quite chilly and thank goodness they had heaters. The food was amazing! We shared about 4 or 5 dishes between the 3 of us and were quite satisfied. The drinks were very tasty, we each had a couple tequila drinks. Try Foreign Cinema they won't disappoint you!
Could not possibly have been better. Every one of us loved every moment.
My first time writing a review because this just has to be told. Very rude waiter. When we asked to order he said “I’m not ready” and walked away not coming back for 10 minutes. Made a face when I declined a second alcoholic drink. I asked politely for water multiple times which he ignored as if he didn’t hear me. I did not have anything to drink as I was eating my meal. Made faces at us when we wanted to split a few desserts pressuring us to order more and gawked at us when we were figuring out closing out our bill. Highly disappointed in the service.
Awesome dinner. Terrible neighborhood. Recommend parking in the Bartlett garage.
The team took such good care of us and it made my husband’s birthday so special, especially after such a hard year. The food was exceptional too!
The environment is awesome, definitely an unique experience. Food is good but a little over priced. The duck confit is okay. But summer pasta really surprised me.
We loved everything about Foreign Cinema - the food, the ambiance, the service. Watch the sun set in Delores Park then enjoy a great meal afterward.
Staff was genuinely welcoming, authentic, mellow and polite - just the right casual-attentive. Food and drinks were absolutely creative, fresh, interesting, delicious. Great variety in menu infused with the feeling of summertime. Nothing boring, repeated or stale here. Outdoor patio vibe was unique, colorful, warm. Staff was dressed up, interesting, added an allure and artistic flair that is often missing from San Francisco in the past decade(s). Sadly though, most diners dressed down (have we forgotten how to leave our hoodies at home because of pandemic, or has So Cal invaded SF completely now?) Plenty of space heaters, loads of charming low-lights (but fake battery candles on the tables, and we noticed the movie was a DVD - not 35mm ...what happened there? Not that it mattered a ton, but...I was expecting more of the charm of the place to come from the authentic "foreign cinema" aspect. The movie was Devil Wears Prada- meh.) Still, the food made it a very very special experience - delightful and satisfying. SF family of four celebrating teenagers' end of historically difficult school year. We left very happy, and would def recommend for any special evening!
Muy bonito, pero reservé con mucha anticipación en la terraza principal y nos dieron mesa en un lateral
Excellent service and delicious food! All hidden down a long hallway that opens up to a beautiful courtyard.
Christina was amazing at describing the food and wine. She picked out the perfect wines for our food choices. Her hospitality and knowledge made our visit even more special. All of the servers at our table should be commended for their professionalism and hospitality.
Everything was terrific. Oysters, gnocchi, fried chicken & pork chop were delicious. Interesting flavors, perfectly prepared. Excellent wine as well. Staff were very helpful. Loved it!
Food, ambience and people were just amazing! Definitely coming back soon. Portions could be slightly bigger. One of my fav places in SF.
Great food and ambiance but pretty pricey for a brief dinner
Wine list was confusing and not up to date. Food was good, and it's a very loud place to dine. I couldn't even hear what the person across from me was saying.
The food was very good, though the portions were small. The waiter was very good, but unfortunately our order was not correct. We gave up on further correcting our order after no actions were taken to correct our order when we brought to the attention of the waiter.
