Our server was very slow and inattentive. Very cold outside on the day we went. Ceviche was outstanding. The calamari was just ok though. The arugula was also just ok. Halibut was bland even with the garnishments. Overall disappointed.

Came for dinner with my parents who are visiting SF for a couple of weeks. Loved the food but wish we didn’t have to wait so long for it. Service could be better.

Location was outstanding but food was under our expectations. I had lamb as main course, and we shared a charcuterie plate for starters.

Several outstanding dishes and great service. Fun atmosphere. Only complaints were that the tables next to us were so close that we couldn't help but overhear the conversations at them. Also, the patio heaters were too warm at first, but as the night cooled down the temperature was fine. Will definitely return.

I'd heard buzz about this place and it far exceeded expectations! Truly, each course (and we had them all!) was perfect. Interesting but not weird menu options, great variety for all tastes. We stayed three hours and we didn't want to leave. The ambiance is energetic but the vibe is casual/communal. Highly recommend!!

Quite an experience! Loved the patio seating. You can't really get to watch the movie, and that doesn't seem to be the purpose of the screening but the ambiance, food and service is exceptional.

Horrible. Asked for a table indoors. Got seated outside at the only table without any heating.

Heard great things about this place so I decided to being my cousin who was visiting from LA. The ambiance was stellar, and the service was excellent. Food-wise, the lavender and goat cheese crostini was heavenly. I got the fried chicken as my main course, and I was disappointed. The flavors were unique and complex, but the execution was off. The outside crust was not crispy or crunchy at all. Not a huge deal, but with the price point and general hype level I expected more from the main course that they are known for.

This is the perfect restaurant ! Great fresh inventive meals . The fried chicken is the best in the world and should not be missed. The mole calamari is unique and a treat . If paella is on the menu grab it . There is always a lively mixed crowd in the dining room so it is fun to eat at such a delicious restaurant in a great space . The staff is amazing .. helpful caring and knowledgeable

This was my second visit to Foreign Cinema. The first experience was excellent. Food and service were both top notch, which prompted the second visit for my birthday.

My friend and I arrived and were seated outside which was lovely. However, the dinner began to go downhill soon after. Our server didn't approach our table for a good 15 minutes and it was rapid fire to take our order and rush on to the next table.

We asked for more table bread which was ignored and had to flag down a busser to ask for a second time. The food (luckily) made up for the awful service, the only highlight of the night. When it came to desert, we weren't offered a dessert menu, but our waitress came over, dropped a sorbet with a candle in it and remarked "heard it's someones birthday".
I was appalled.

Needless to say, save your money on this overpriced meal and visit another trendy spot in SF, there are no lack of options.

Pretty underwhelmed despite loving the restaurant itself. They ran out of a few of the key dishes in the Mother’s Day brunch menu and it was exceptionally expensive.

Phenomenal experience at Foreign Cinema! I forget our waiter's name but he had long black hair (in a pony tail) and an inner nose ring and he was extremely nice, patient, and helpful. Accommodated an extra seat at the table. Also, great outdoor space in the back on a sunny day. Can't say enough good things.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are far better places in SF to try and enjoy great food. The ambiance is cute and different, but definitely not worth the money spent on a meal. The food was average, I had the ceviche, which tasted more like a guacamole - the delicate fish was overpowered by too much heat from the chile (would have worked better without it). the main (scallops, cod, shrimp and clams dish) came out cold, and i only realised once i started eating it that there was a big blob of mayonnaise like sauce just dumped on top of the fish - no presentation whatsoever. the service was also very slow and not at all attentive - i waited like 20 min for a refill on my water, for which I had to ask. Given the meal cost over 100$ a person (that doesn't include wine), I was very disappointed in the experience and the food.

We had an early reservation at 5.30pm and sat outside in the courtyard. Great food, even better service, we were too early for a film (still daylight) but I’d go back because I can imagine the atmosphere is magic when the film is running.

We had a truffle pasta and a ceviche for appetisers, both delicious. For main course we had a flat iron steak and the duck breast. Again both were sensational. Very happy we chose to eat here, despite only being able to get an early table. Suggest you plan ahead :-)

I have heard of this place for awhile and have wanted to try. I was blown away by not only how great the food is but also how beautiful the place is! This has now become one of my favorite places that I would want to frequent whenever I can. If you get a chance to go you need to go! So worth it! Highly recommend. Must try dish - the duck. Absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to go back!

Food was overpriced and kind of mediocre. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks and had to ask/remind different waiters about our food since it wouldn’t come out until after another 30 minutes the sommelier asked if we had ordered anything since we were sitting at a table with only drinks, no food and we told him we were waiting on our meal.

I really do enjoy Foreign Cinema as I've gone many times, however this last occasion was not enjoyable. The servers rushed us and picked up plates while I was still about to eat it. We were graciously comped a dessert for that mishap but the servers came by our table 6 times ruining the conversation and ambiance. I did also check for patrons that were seated near and at around the same time and they were also still dining.

Meh - our waiter was so good in the beginning until he got really busy and some random waiter helped us out. It would have been nice if our waiter came over and said this is so and so, he's going to help me out or I'm taking my 15min. break. Food was disappointing, the only great dish was the ceviche. Portions were small, presentation was meh... for a restaurant like this, I expected a better experience. For a $200 meal for 3 ppl.. we were still hungry afterwards. Also when I mentioned that it was my friend's bday, can we do something special? they just stuck a candle in the dessert we ordered and a puny little card... thanks...

Foreign Cinema continues to be a force in dining. Service was perfect yet casual so you don't feel claustrophobic. Sommelier was well-educated, server knew how to pace dishes and interruptions. Food was close to perfect, bread served was impeccably sliced and fresh like 8am not 9pm. Cocktails were inventive and fun, wine list continues to be a beast. I would go back every week if I lived close enough.

One of the best meals we had in San Francisco. An amazing venue with a great vibe! I would highly recommend but would encourage a cab ride to the location. The neighbourhood itself was not the most welcoming.
