It was an early dinner for us.. 3 friends before a show at Blumenthal. So the restaurant was fairly quiet.. only a few tables occupied. Note that this is inside the Center City Holiday Inn. You may be put off by that but we found the food to be quite delicious and well presented. Service was very attentive and quick so we had an easy to walk to the theatre. The waitperson split our checks without having to be asked. The menu is limited and specialized so you may want to check it out before you go. It is a bit pricey.
Great food - they really need to work on their service - waited 20 minutes after ordering to get it to the table - told the. We have to be out in an hour and we got or dinner in 1 15 minutes - too bad because the food is outstanding
Had a reservation at 6 and got seated at about 5 after. Ordered drinks and then food but waited about an hour for the food to arrive. waiter said it would be right out after about 30 minutes and ended up waiting 30 more. management comped drinks and gave us 15% off, but then had to run to the arena to make our show so didn’t have time to order dessert. disappointing.
The food was just average and took a ridiculously long time to arrive considering our 5:45 reservation! Everyone seemed frazzled but the restaurant was not that busy. No apologies either. Disappointing experience.
Food was excellent, however, the service was terrible. They seated us in a two top right next to the kitchen and refused to change our table when we asked (even though I had reservations). It was very loud, with waiters running by our table every 5 minutes. It took over 45 minutes just to get our drinks. Thankfully, the food was good or the entire experience would've been a wash. I don't recommend though, as there are other really good Italian restaurants in uptown Charlotte.
Great food, server was very pleasant and helpful, ambiance was nice. Restaurant was very busy as there was a lot going on in the city that night so the speed of service was a bit slower than anticipated. Just gave us more time to visit and fortunately we had reservations a bit early.
Love this restaurant also Chef Luca the best chef in the city. We will be back soon
Service and food was excellent. I would recommend dinning here
Excellent radiccio and spinach salad to start, osso bucco as main course, with pannacota to finish. Great service. I highly recommend.
Often when I see a restaurant in a hotel, I’m a little skeptical. Such was the case with Forchetta. However, my concerns were baseless. This restaurant is OUTSTANDING! The food was sumptuous - a truly original and authentically Italian menu with tons of fresh, local ingredients, excellent cocktail menu, wonderful desserts and best of all service that was both discreet and made you feel like part of the family.
We will be returning regularly and making this our date-night standard for a long time to come.
dantosca, Thank you so much for your kind review! We are glad you enjoyed your time spent at forchetta and look forward to your next visit.
Love that Luca is always in the house! Wait staff is excellent, food delicious and the courses are well paced. Thank you for another wonderful dining experience.
What a surprise hidden gem excellent drinks and entrees along with superb service, will definitely come back again!
Thank you DanD for your generous review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your dining experience and look forward to your next visit!
For service, not horrible by any means and they were pleasant. But it took a while to get water refills, and they didn’t ask us if we wanted another cocktail. Pretty big misses for the simple things. The choppiness of the restaurant is a bit strange, was when it was cafe sienna too...we sat in the hallway and those that took smoke breaks walked by us on the way in and out throughout dinner. Smoke smell and constant cool air drafts were less than desirable and we weren’t even the closest table to the door. Food was a letdown honestly. Wife had lasagna and I had the carbonara. Lasagna was too cheesy and the sauce and meat were fairly plain. Cheese is great, don’t get me wrong, but too much tends to mask other things. And my carbonara was very rich, as you would think, but it was far too salty, even after considering that the prosciutto is naturally salty. Don’t think we’ll be back unfortunately. It’s in a great spot, and the prices weren’t bad for middle range dishes. But I’d rather spend more at places like aria and cantina.
An Italian restaurant should have multiple Italian wines by the glass. Squid ink pasta was drowned in creme sauce.
Great service and delicious food. Perfect location if attending performance at the BLUMENTHAL.
Thank you TishA for your kind words. We are pleased you enjoyed your time spent at forchetta. Can't wait to have you back again.
Good ok, just nothing unique. Lamb was too hard.
Really enjoy our dinner and meeting Luca. We will be back.
Glad you enjoyed your dinner and look forward to having you back!
We’ve been here twice before shows at Spectrum so naturally they were busy. Service still seemed a little slow but I will say the food was worth it. Very good.
Thank you WendyM for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the food!
Our server Angelo was great. The drinks were fine. The bread at the beginning was stale. The Gnocchi appetizer tasted as if it had gone bad and was almost inedible. The meatball appetizer had the hardest and coldest meatballs, almost as if they had been frozen and not thawed all the way. The Rigatoni appetizer was okay, not great. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Three of us made reservations to have dinner before the Elton John concert. We ordered salads and lasagna and Italian sausage pasta dish. Service was excellent. Owner came by the table to see how the food and service were. Would go back again for dinner when in Charlotte for an event.
BeckeyC, we are happy that you enjoyed your time at forchetta. We look forward to having you back again for dinner!
The staff was wonderful, however the food was just not good. Bland and over cooked pasta...the carbonara tasted more like an alfredo sauce with out any cheese...flour and water....my wife Rabbit ragu with truffle oil had very little rabbit and no truffle oil...both pastas were way over cooked...the worst meal I'v had in a long time...
Somewhat disappointing as the menu sounds great but execution somewhat lacking. Octopus, clams calamari good but average. They extra's described in the menu just not contributing to the dishes. Osso Buco again good but not great. Not nearly as unctuous, lacked sauce/gravy. Occasion was a birthday, which was noted on the reservation but ignored by the restaurant, no cake candle, free drink or any sign of recognition. However I would try it again. Value was good.
Intimate dining on Halloween, and got to try food I never thought of ordering. All the food was great! If I can eat Sweet Bread aka not bread I can eat anything! Chef Luca is very passionate about what he does everyday and it shows! Mi look forward to his cooking classes!
Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot to us here at forchetta. We are glad you enjoyed the food and recognized Chef Luca's passion. Look forward to having you join us for his cooking class!
Great place, business dinner for 6. Very good attentive service.
Calamari was excellent. Lasagna was cold and took forever to get. The rest of us finished eating before the lasagna person ever received his food. Then it was cold. My salad was ok. I'd prefer the typical salad. The olive dish was very good! The rigatoni was excellent. But we won't be back. Too many other good places in this area to eat! We ate here last summer as Caffe Sienna. It was awesome. Not so much now.
We had an excellent meal at forchetta. We shared the house salad, the salmon, and the branzino. The salmon came with crabmeat on top and was excellent. The branzino was in a broth and also very good. Angelo, the server, was attentive and helpful with suggestions. I guess word is not out about this place yet, we were one of four tables. It is in the Holiday Inn, and people may not think of going there as it is “hotel” food. Very reasonably priced too. Will be back!
Very good service. Appetizers and charcuterie plate excellent.
Very good food. Though they brought out the salad and forgot the appetizer. The pint glass was not filled completely, and it took the server 15 minutes to being the check though the restaurant was less than half full.
Chef Luca is the best! The chef’s tasting he prepared for us was outstanding! There were so many courses we lost count but every dish was amazing! We love this place!! Thank you for making my husband’s birthday so special. (Charlotte NC)
Excellent food! The calamari was fabulous and The Radicchio Salad superb! I had the lasagna and it was very good.
Fabulous food, fantastic service!

Went to Forchetta last night for dinner before an event at the Spectrum Center. A delicious start to our evening! Each of us had different items from the menu and all were great. The pasta is all homemade and the Rigatoni Alla Luca is not to be missed. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly. Chef Luca went out of his way to make a special pasta entree for my friend. The restaurant space is beautiful and welcoming.
Overall- horrible. There was nothing good about this at all. Poor service at the bar. We ordered a $60 bottle of wine - and we were handed it. We weren’t offered a taste. Charcuterie board was Cracker Barrel cheese at best. No expllanation of anything. Meatballs were not tasty and over cooked . No one checked in on us once. We sat at the bar- and would not recommend or go back.
Sad excuse for an Italian restaurant.
Blech, Please accept my apologies that we failed to provide you with exceptional service. Although we were sold out prior to the Phil Collins concert and you were unable to dine at a table that should not have lessened your wine experience. I take great pride in the menu that I have created and its execution by my culinary team. I will certainly review with the team your comments to ensure everyone is providing my vision. Chef Luca
Our family enjoyed an amazing meal at Forchetta yesterday! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We were treated well from the moment we arrived and will definitely be back again. Chef Luca’s meals are always delicious and presented with such care and elegance. Don’t skip over the calamari; so yummy!!
My daughter and I made reservations so that we could catch dinner before a concert in the Spectrum Center. The menu is not as extensive as when this was Cafe Sienna so choices were limited. I liked the fact that some pasta dishes were available in half portion sizes. The wine menu provided one zinfandel and no malbecs or chiantis. The zinc was exceptionally nice, though. I would have loved to see risotto and more seafood options.
Namimusic, Thank you for your suggestions regarding our wine list and menu. As I continue to create my next menu I will keep your comments in mind. I hope that you and your daughter had an enjoyable evening at the concert! Chef Luca
Good experience but not great, food was good but a little off. Maybe it was my food choice
Always love Luca’s lasagna! We were dining before going to the theater and the waiter made sure we ordered items that would not make us late. The food was delicious as always. Love the new decor!
Excellent service. Very nice ambiance. The chef came over to ask what we thought about the meal. Calamari was excellent. House-made fettuccine was superb. Drinks were a little slow being delivered as our waiter had to service the outside guests as well as our party. Otherwise an excellent meal.
KevanW. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at forchetta. Chef Luca's calamari is one of my favorite dishes (and I didn't even like calamari). Please accept my apologies for the delay on the drinks. We look forward to your return visit! Stacey B GM
Pleasant surprise. Didn’t realize it was in the Holiday Inn when I booked and didn’t feel like a hotel restaurant at all.
BillK. Thank you for dining with us last week and we appreciate you taking the time to post this review and share with the community that we are NOT a hotel restaurant but a proud Italian Kitchen, forchetta! Ciao Chef Luca
