Very good food. Though they brought out the salad and forgot the appetizer. The pint glass was not filled completely, and it took the server 15 minutes to being the check though the restaurant was less than half full.
Chef Luca is the best! The chef’s tasting he prepared for us was outstanding! There were so many courses we lost count but every dish was amazing! We love this place!! Thank you for making my husband’s birthday so special. (Charlotte NC)
Excellent food! The calamari was fabulous and The Radicchio Salad superb! I had the lasagna and it was very good.
Fabulous food, fantastic service!

Went to Forchetta last night for dinner before an event at the Spectrum Center. A delicious start to our evening! Each of us had different items from the menu and all were great. The pasta is all homemade and the Rigatoni Alla Luca is not to be missed. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly. Chef Luca went out of his way to make a special pasta entree for my friend. The restaurant space is beautiful and welcoming.
Overall- horrible. There was nothing good about this at all. Poor service at the bar. We ordered a $60 bottle of wine - and we were handed it. We weren’t offered a taste. Charcuterie board was Cracker Barrel cheese at best. No expllanation of anything. Meatballs were not tasty and over cooked . No one checked in on us once. We sat at the bar- and would not recommend or go back.
Sad excuse for an Italian restaurant.
Blech, Please accept my apologies that we failed to provide you with exceptional service. Although we were sold out prior to the Phil Collins concert and you were unable to dine at a table that should not have lessened your wine experience. I take great pride in the menu that I have created and its execution by my culinary team. I will certainly review with the team your comments to ensure everyone is providing my vision. Chef Luca
Our family enjoyed an amazing meal at Forchetta yesterday! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We were treated well from the moment we arrived and will definitely be back again. Chef Luca’s meals are always delicious and presented with such care and elegance. Don’t skip over the calamari; so yummy!!
My daughter and I made reservations so that we could catch dinner before a concert in the Spectrum Center. The menu is not as extensive as when this was Cafe Sienna so choices were limited. I liked the fact that some pasta dishes were available in half portion sizes. The wine menu provided one zinfandel and no malbecs or chiantis. The zinc was exceptionally nice, though. I would have loved to see risotto and more seafood options.
Namimusic, Thank you for your suggestions regarding our wine list and menu. As I continue to create my next menu I will keep your comments in mind. I hope that you and your daughter had an enjoyable evening at the concert! Chef Luca
Good experience but not great, food was good but a little off. Maybe it was my food choice
Always love Luca’s lasagna! We were dining before going to the theater and the waiter made sure we ordered items that would not make us late. The food was delicious as always. Love the new decor!
Excellent service. Very nice ambiance. The chef came over to ask what we thought about the meal. Calamari was excellent. House-made fettuccine was superb. Drinks were a little slow being delivered as our waiter had to service the outside guests as well as our party. Otherwise an excellent meal.
KevanW. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at forchetta. Chef Luca's calamari is one of my favorite dishes (and I didn't even like calamari). Please accept my apologies for the delay on the drinks. We look forward to your return visit! Stacey B GM
Pleasant surprise. Didn’t realize it was in the Holiday Inn when I booked and didn’t feel like a hotel restaurant at all.
BillK. Thank you for dining with us last week and we appreciate you taking the time to post this review and share with the community that we are NOT a hotel restaurant but a proud Italian Kitchen, forchetta! Ciao Chef Luca
Fun Football night and excellent carbonara!
Quiet night. Chef cane to speak to us and was very friendly. Great food. We will return.
Wonderful food and a very friendly staff. We will definitely be coming back!
What a disappointment! Pasta wasn't fresh, sauce tasted canned, and the rabbit Genovese was as good as a can of chicken noodle soup. We started with what they were calling gnocchi, but it reminded me of the dried stuff you can find at Costco - sauce was tasteless, too, with tiny bits of rubbery eggplant. It also came out extraordinarily hot - the kind of temperature that only comes from a microwave. The hubs ordered the rigatoni (which sat in the window for five minutes) and that pasta tasted stale, too, as well as the sauce, which was lifeless and unseasoned. And this was the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend!! Places were heaving and it should have been a clue that at 7:30 p.m. there were only two couples in the entire dining room. Service was all right, nothing amazing, nor appalling. We didn't even want dessert - which we're hard-pressed to skip. Not sure why the rave reviews, but I had high expectations as a direct result of them and wish I had listened to my gut upon arrival instead. There are many, many better choices in Charlotte for Italian. I don't think I'll ever go to any of Luca's other restaurants again after this. Shame on you!!!
Food was subpar. Service was excellent.
It was date night and wanted to try somewhere new and not the traditional American Italian, and with seafood options. This was perfect. Food quality was definitly up to par (never enough Parmesan in my opinion) and we even stuck around for dessert which was well worth it! Only issue was parking, we parked in an adjacent lot and not the specified lot on accident and they still did not validate. Guess will have to be more careful about that next time :/ other than that , 5 stars.
Service was very poor. No greeter. Slow to take drink order. Got the drink order wrong. Didn't bring bread until asked. Brought the wrong bottle of wine. It wasn't that busy, but they seemed to be pretty disorganized for a Saturday night.
Please accept our deepest apologies that we did not provide you with an exceptional dining experience. Although a new restaurant always has some growing pains this should never show in our service and for this I personally apologize. Please feel free to contact me personally on your next opportunity to visit me at the restaurant and I'll make it right! Chef Luca chef.luca@forchettacharlotte 704-602-2750
Fantastic food & Great Service. Wish the wine list had been a bit better, but that's the only thing I can criticize!
The place is small and the bar and dining area are one. There are three four tables down an alley like area that was created when the sectioned off the for the kitchen. Tables are up against the glass so you can watch people walk by and they can watch you chew!
I got the lasagna. Not even really fond of lasagna but I'm of Italian decent, two generations down from the original immigration application. I literally judge an Italian restaurant by the lasagna. Although it may not seem like it, Lasagna takes some skill. Taste texture the flow of ingredients and how they come together to create an edible dish. Most places fail this test and I never go back again! I was pleasantly surprised that forchette got the job done. Not quite like mom's but good. My wife had the rigs and they were decent also. You could tell they were made fresh. The Cesar romaine was grilled and it was a great twist on the salad. We enjoyed it. Only thing is the menu is limited but I'd rather a joint do a few things right than a lot of things wrong. I saw the veal chop on my way out and it looked amazing. Going to go back to try it!
Forchetta was just okay for us. Ordered calamari and the fagottini for apps. 15 minutes later was told that there's no fagottini. Ordered lobster bisque instead. The calamari was plentiful and tasty, but a bit greasy. The lobster bisque did not have any shrimp in it at all...not worth $9. For our meals we had the pappardelle and traditional burger. The pappardelle was dry. Just some globs or rabbit stewed meat with no sauce to it. No cheese was on this dish at all, but the menu indicated that there would be two cheeses. The burger was typical. Nothing special. The server was nice, however service was terribly slow, which was surprising as the restaurant was dead.
Charlotte is fortunate to have Chef Luca lead the forchetta staff and we thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday brunch.
Via open table, I requested the waiter I had the first time I visited (Tomas), he was working, but we got a different waiter who was not very good. He rushed my husband, who is a slow eater due to a medical condition, brought courses before we were ready, and didn’t let him finish ordering his courses or let him explain how we wanted the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd courses brought out. It wasn’t confusing, the waiter was just in a rush for some reason. This was our 1 year anniversary dinner so we were not in a hurry.
I was really looking forward to dessert, but we were so disappointed with the food quality (bland salmon), service, noise level (music was loud and there was a table of 4 with 2 annoying women nearby so we couldn’t even hear each other talking), where our table was located (right where the servers would pick up food from the kitchen), etc. I had a great experience with friends during restaurant week, but unfortunately will not be returning after this 2nd experience.
Ampitup. Please accept my apologies that we failed to provide you with an exceptional experience for your 1st year anniversary. Allow me to make this up to you. I look forward to hearing from you and my contact information is listed below so we bring back that 1st time experience again! Ciao Chef Luca chef.luca@forchettacharlotte
Good Italian , good service.
Thank you for sharing your experience and we look forward to your return visit. Stacey B
Fantastic hidden gem for high end and creative Italian cuisine in Uptown. Tucked next to the Holiday Inn (but don't let that fool you!). Chef Luca hasn't lost any tricks since his previous ventures at Passion 8 and Luca's Italian Kitchen in Elizabeth. Have eaten there three times and everything for all has been top notch. Perfect for before any arts or sports event in Uptown.
DMAC. Thank you for this amazing 5 star review. Chef Luca is an amazing, creative culinary force to be reckoned with! He is the most passionate Chef I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to your next visit! Stacey B GM
The food is semi warm. Everything is careless. Not recommendable..
Chef Luca never disappoints! The Chocolate Risotto is beyond decadent. The perfect balance of a dessert that isn’t overly sweet. The food was equally spectacular- best lasagne I’ve ever had. Wonderfully light - not what one would normally say about lasagne. A must try!
The food was very disappointing. The salmon was not cooked properly and lacking flavor. The duck was also poorly cooked and too fatty. Will not be coming back.
Our particular server was not kind or personable. Definitely felt rushed. All other staff was very kind.
The food was only overshadowed by our service!! Exceptional service
Chef Luca has done it again! Another wonderful restaurant with his amazing Italian cuisine. And this one, Forchetta, is in the Holiday Inn uptown. Parking is free with a validation of your parking ticket from the parking garage right there (the Wake Forest U lot). The appetizers; Calamari, assorted olives and lobster pasta purses melted in our mouths! The burrata beet salad is fresh with a touch of sweetness. We each enjoyed our main courses of Osso Buco (veal), NY strip steaks and chicken. All were delish! And panna cotta for dessert! Fabulous! Stop by to see Chef Luca. He gives the service his personal touch!
Lovely music- reminded us of being in Italy- food was excellent and the fact you could hear it and not have to shout at your dinner companion was a welcome relief. Call and ask what parking deck to park in becuase we were ripped off at Hearst tower parking- $25 after the entrance gate was open!!!
Great service and delicious food
Overall i thought the environment was good. No one came to greet our table for a solid 5 minutes until we asked if someone was coming over. The server was very nice and knowledgeable but not the most attentive. At times we had to ask multiple times or other people for drink refills. This was restaurant week and i only saw 2-3 servers in the whole restaurant so they may have just been very busy but still the restaurant should staff accordingly. I thought the food was pretty good....nothing i felt i HAVE to go back for but interesting menu and and good presentation.
Angelo was an excellent server. He made excellent recommendations from the menu and checked on us just the right amount. Food was delicious! Will dine there again.
The calamari... probably the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly crispy, not greasy... the spicy/sweet sauce was amazing. I’d go back just for this.
My other courses were pretty bland unfortunately. I had the sea bass and wasn’t ridiculously pleased. And same for the tiramisu for dessert.
I’d give it another shot as the service was great and be appetizers were just that good.
The restaurant wasn’t great. The food was meh, and the service was poor. Needs a lot of work before I would go back.
I went to Forchetta with a friend at the start of Queen"s Feast and had such an amazing experience, I had to take the hubby back the following week for more. Chef Luca's Queen's Feast menu was full of so many good choices that I couldn't stop thinking about the item's that I wasn't able to try. On my first visit, I had the sea bass so this week I decided to change it up and switch from sea to land with the Veal Osso Bucco with baby carrots. Great choice! The veal literally melted in my mouth. My husband ordered the Agnello which are grilled lamb chops with broccoli rabe and a sun dried tomato demi-glaze. He was extremely pleased as was my 20 year old eating machine son waiting at home for the proverbial "doggy bag". Chef Luca definitely gives you your money's worth and more. We ended the night with the delicious Tiramisu and walked out the door discussing what we would try on our next visit. If you haven't tried Forchetta yet, I suggest getting in now because once the lazy hazy days of summer are over and Charlotte vacation season commences, it won't be so easy.
