Nino Trotta — who owns Forcella alongside his girlfriend, general manager Shannon MacGowan, and his brother, wine director Christian Trotta — say that the cozy, candlelit vibe of the restaurant sets Forcella apart in a sea of massive North End trattorias.
“It’s tiny, 33 or 34 seats,” he said. “It’s perfect for a date.”
Chef Robert Morotto, formerly of the Aquitaine Group, has designed a menu that includes dishes from all over Italy, with a slight lean toward Naples, where the Trotta family is from. Primi dishes include meatballs, lobster bisque, and crispy quail, while pastas range from linguine alle vongole and risotto to gnocchi with braised rabbit. Salmon, ribeye, and pork porterhouse round out the menu. While Forcella is focusing on dinner for now, its hours will expand to include lunch in the spring.

Great ambiance, service, and food! Definitely on our favorite list.
Great food! A nice smaller place to have a great quiet dinner
Food was absolutely delicious - reminded us of our trip to Italy a few years ago. Great staff and atmosphere!
Food was great and so was the service. I love the cozy atmosphere and can't wait to see the outdoor space when it gets warm enough! New favorite neighborhood spot.
Overall good! Food was good but not unbelievably great. I had the Pachieri with the meat on top, was strange that they wouldn’t just make a bolognese with all of the meat since the short rib was still too tough to cut, and it gets much more tender if you cook it in the marinara sauce longer. Overall good meal but given all the great restaurants nearby not something we’ll run back to soon. Thanks!
Lovely cozy restaurant, terrific service staff and the food!!!! The food is incredible!!! Highly recommend the beef carpaccio, the black truffle anything:) And the black pepper carbonara is the best I’ve ever had!!! Pretty cool wine list too.....all in all 12 out of 10
Amazing food and atmosphere. They did not rush us out and we were able to have an amazing dinner and drinks. The food was the best I’ve had in the north end. Highly recommend and would go again
We celebrated my birthday for dinner while visiting Boston. The place is very cozy & one of the co-owners welcomed us. There was a wine tasting going on so noise level was likely higher than normal, but they shared some of their wine with us so no complaints here! Food was delish & excellent service.
We have already booked Forcella for two other occasions with friends in the coming weeks. Great food, good Italian wine selection with a relaxed ambiance. Very quaint setting, since it only sits 30 guests (max). Located in North Square, Boston. Highly recommend.
One of the most flavorful food I’ve had in a long time! Shannon Dennis and Sarah offered wonderful service!
Everything we ate was so delicious, high quality ingredients and high quality execution. The wines were wonderful too! Will definitely be going back soon to try the rest of the menu!
Cozy, romantic and amazing food!
Fantastic intimate dining experience in the North End. Food is great, well portioned, and service is very accommodating! Would definitely dine again.
Our 4th visit. Extraordinary food each time.
Amazing dinner, from the wine to the pasta, everything was delicious. Cannot wait to try Forcella again.
Wait staff and owners were charming and hospitable!
Second time there, did not disappoint. Cozy atmosphere, warm, knowledgeable staff and delicious food. Wine and food prices reasonable. Just delicious and our out of town guest was totally impressed.
Chef Rob continues to amaze me with his talent in the kitchen.
Excellent can’t wait to go back
Intimate, quiet bistro excellent Italian biased cuisine. Will be on our short special place list.
Amazing food!!!!! Amazing everything a great welcome to the neighborhood, true gem!!
It was my first time, but I will definitely go back to taste other dishes. Food was very good!
Chef Robert uses the finest ingredients with a culinary flair for a wonderful experience. I'd recommend Forcella to everyone.
Maybe growing pains with this new restaurant. It desperately needs some help. The food was nondescript. The caesar dressing was missing on the caesar salad. Just oil perhaps? No taste at all. Salmon was plain and uninteresting. Very disappointing. Sorry.
Food and wine were outstanding.
Excellent! Food was amazing! We’ll be back soon!
It was good across the board
Small venue, so reservations are s good idea! The food was outstanding. We cannot wait to go back and try something else.
Waitress did not tell us of the specials. Tables are crowded together. Salad was great but clams with linguine was bland. No deserts offered. Resturant just opened, I’m sure it will improve once things settle down. Need to do better arrangements with tables - almost cafeteria style and no privacy whatsoever.
Small intimate restaurant with good food
Portions are plentiful
Fantastic food and wine!
After enduring a bone-chilling, miserable trip to the North End in rain and sleet, we were welcomed warmly into the cozy, small restaurant. It only seats 35 people and, sadly, the weather took its toll on reservations and a lot of New Years Eve people were no-shows. Their loss. We went to experience a new restaurant and because the wine list was excellent, affordable and well-matched to the food. The menu was not expansive but well-focused. The seafood risotto, PEI mussels and "family recipe" ragu were excellent, perfect for such a raw, rainy night. Server Dennis K. was friendly, professional and there when needed. We realize their attention to us was increased by the quieter room, but the owners and waitstaff took pains to make all their guests feel welcome. The one thing lacking was dessert and coffee, which they admitted was a challenge for this small space. Perhaps they could contract with one of the local bakeries to provide? We look forward to returning in the warm weather when they plan to have an outdoor patio in back. Forcella is a nice little gem in a North End crowded with restaurants.
Food and service was good. There is not a bar and I was not aware of that. Struggled with the wine choices as well. Would have liked a drink. Very small and not a place to have a drink while waiting
Food was delicious and different but very Italian
A small but very intimate spot for dinner. Great food, great service and tons of ambience. Definitely won of my favorite spots in the city.
Great new spot in North Square. Food & Service was very good.
We had a fabulous authentic Italian dinner and an excellent bottle of wine. Great addition to the North End
Great food and service perfect place for date or with family
It was my one year anniversary and decided to try a new north end restaurant with my girlfriend. Forcella is an absolute hidden gem located in the north end’s north square. Beautiful ambience, excellent service, and the wine pairings were amazing. The staff and owners clearly know their wines and were happy to offer tastes and recommendations. Additionally, the food was exceptional. I highly recommend the meatballs, risotto, and ribeye! I can’t wait to go back.
wonderful menu with a fantastic wine selection.. great little cozy spot to bring a date..
