Forbidden Root Restaurant and Brewery Ratings and Reviews
I LOVE Forbidden Roots! I come here quite often. The menu is always changing around; however, I usually have the same thing every time. My go-to is a beer, a salad to split and the burger. The burger is the best in the city in my opinion! This is one of my favorite restaurants - very relaxing and delicious food/drinks!
This place is great for beer lovers (and food lovers). The menu is inventive and interesting. The hostess was a little weird to us; the place was empty and half the part was about 5 minutes early. I had a reservation (obvs) but she wouldn't seat us until the whole party came. It was EMPTY though, we may have been the only people there.
Forbidden Root is a rustic welcoming place for Foodies and Beer nerds alike. Each dish on the menu is seasonally crafted and comforting. The biggest hits are the burrata and the burger, but you can't go wrong with anything they are slinging. The beer is their pride and joy (and it delivers over and over ) but don't miss their cocktails. The UVA is a perfect palate cleanser after a superbly juicy IPA.
I went here with friends for a delicious brunch! It was not crowded and the weather was nice, so we sat by the large open front windows. We all tried each others' food and beer and everything was amazing! The coconut milk french toast and savory pancake were my favorite food options, and the strawberry basil beer was a favorite of everyone at the table. Can't wait to go back and try their dinner! I've heard rave reviews about the brussel sprouts...
I was a bit hesitant going there because the "botanic beers" label makes it sound like the beers are going to have many crazy flavors and not be drinkable as I've experienced at other breweries. Disclosure: I have a wide palette for beer but appreciate not drinking a glass of herbs when taking a sip. I was very pleasantly surprised by the great flavors and would happily go back for more tastings. My girlfriend's cocktails were excellent also.
The food was fantastic! We chose to stick with small plates and skipped the main courses, they just didn't stand out to us and I wanted a few more choices on the main courses. The preparation, flavor combinations, and presentation were top-notch.
It was slightly loud but not overbearing and we would happily go back.
Very cool ambiance and great service. The food and device were fantastic. We had the burger and the schnitzel. Both were fantastic, as were the cheese and crackers. I will say that their menu is rather odd and limited, but everything we had was great.
We will definitely be back.
