Forbes Mill Steakhouse - Danville Ratings and Reviews
During my first visit on July, I was not so happy about the service, but I wanted ti give anothe try and made rezervation for meeting with my friends after 7 years break.
After I made the rezervation, I red the reviews and terified. I was at the edge of cancelling my rez. But it was to late to do that.
That night started at the bar and I got very friendly treatment.
But the real thing, was having Alex and good meal. We were ofered different tables for our choice, and after Alex showed up, I was so happy that I did not cancelled my rezervation. He made our meeting a wonderful one.
Thank you for everything.
Love that they have a combo lunch where you can get a half sandwich with 4-5 side choices. It’s the right amount of food and the price was right -$12. Last time I was there I had a prime rib or brisket sandwich au jus and it was amazing. I did not see it on the menu this time.
This was are first time eating here and it did not disappoint! The booth for two we had was great, the waiter and waitress that served us were very courteous, the steaks were amazing and the complimentary birthday dessert for my wife was a great touch. It's on the pricey side but we will definitely be back!
We had a party of eight for dinner with one couple splitting their entree. Six of us had a glass of wine, but none of us had dessert. The bill with 20% required gratuity was $462! We have been to several fine dining restaurants in the San Ramon to Walnut Creek area the past several years. This was by far the most expensive place we have eaten and have no plans to return as a group or as a couple. The service was great, and by being at the corner table, the noise was minimal. The atmosphere was excellent. The food was delicious, but I guess the three of us did not realize when we ordered the Seafood Pasta, that the sauce was quite spicy. My wife had the Twin Peaks sirloin, and it was fantastic.
We really enjoyed a nice dinner at Forbes Mill. The service was warm and attentive, and all courses in our meals were great. Our friends who drove in for dinner were very pleased with the pick.
We started with a cocktail before diner and they were very good. They hostess were helpful in accommodating us since we knew we were going to be a bit late. The wine selection was also nice and brought out with our entrees, as requested. The filet mignon were perfectly prepared and delightful. All the courses of the dinner were excellent. One plate we ordered was just a bit overcooked, but nothing offensive. I recommend spending a little extra for the prime. Being our anniversary the restaurant did provide a nice desert sampler, with a nice touch including "happy anniversary" written in chocolate on the plate.
Our meal was fine, the food took a long time to come out, but the appetizers and drinks were quick. The service was good, and the quality of the food was ok -- nothing to write home about honestly. We went here because it was close to our friend's house. I would not return unless it was a similar situation.
Delicious filet steak cooked to perfection with excellent peppercorn sauce. Baked potato was also great with all the fixings
Creamed spinach was simply too rich with too much meat in it and heavy cream
My husbands blackened ribeye was heavily sauced and covered with carmelized onions -again, wat too rich . He had to scrape it off
Next time we will order with this in mind- keep it simple Our server was efficient but quite stuffy - not my style
I spoke with the manager while there. Service was poor - waiter and waitress were not attentive, never introduced themselves, and spilled wine when pouring glasses. Steaks were very good. The rest of the food was average. We had a party of 6 and our steaks all came out 2 at a time about 2 minutes apart. Bad experience. Would not recommend to others. Seems overpriced for the level of service.
My only criticism is that it was my mother in laws birthday and her first time visiting.... our party arrived 15 minutes early and had to stand right in the front door until our table was ready.... my mother in law is on a cane.... maybe rethink the waiting area for parties with children..... I understand that if we didn’t have the children we could’ve waited in the bar area I’m assuming.... just a suggestion.... overall she had a great time and I would recommend Forbes
First time at Forbes Mill for a birthday dinner. Every member of the staff was courteous and polite. Our server and his backup were especially attentive. The food was delicious and the presentation was artistic. Great wine list. Definitely adding Forbes Mill to my list of go to places in the east bay for a night out.
Dinner was fine, but they charge $25 for corkage, which is ridiculous! We always share our wine with our server, & typically they waive the corkage, but we shared with 2 servers who were jointly waiting on us. One was gracious, but the other poured a good size glass for himself. So to be charged $25 for corkage is ridiculous. Won’t ever go back.
We've come here almost every anniversary. It's not near us, so we definitely go for a special occasion. It's a bit pricey, but you can always count on the quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience here, which is no exception. Every time is a great experience. See you next year!
We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The main courses came out all on the same plate which reminded me of first class service on Virgin America airlines. The wine pairing, which turned out to be a flight, was about brought to us midway through our meal. I made a comment to the waiter and he laughed. The filet mignon was the better of the three, but I could make the same thing at home with a steak from Costco. The shrimp and rice dish tasted like it was from a box with frozen shrimp. The veal was tough and looked unappetizing. It was served with flavorless mashed potatoes .... really? How can a restaurant screw up mashed potatoes. At the end of our dinner it was clear that I have had better food at weddings. The server could tell we were upset but did nothing to fix the situation. By far the worst service we've ever had. It was so disappointing. The dessert was thrown onto the plate and looked like someone else already had a few bites. And my husband's Happy Birthday candle was already half way used and just made it look so sad. For a $200 meal for 2 I expected much more from Forbes Mill.
