Over all very good but I thought $47 for an 18 year old McCallum scotch on the rocks was a bit unreasonable. Plus the pour was skimpy.
The 2 martinis we had were small and too icy.
Service was less than usual
Food still good
We were out celebrating our daughter's end of finals. We had been there before during the day time. At night the restaurant is very dark! Hard to see your food. We did, however, have a nice time with a wonderful server who was kind enough to take some costs off of our bill because two of our steaks were under-cooked and the other one was over-cooked. He even had a manager stop by to see that we were happy. It is a pricey-place, so plan on spending $50+ per person for just your entree. Great for a romantic evening.
The sea bass entrée was over cooked and I was very disappointed in the quality of the dish.
We went to Forbes Mill steakhouse on weekend most time. This time, we went a Monday. The ribeye steak was very disappointing. We got a stomachache at night.
The good was delicious; our waiter was kind.
Big kudos to Steve the bartender who is the consummate professional!!
Aged ny steak was tough for ny steak with inedible fibrous area that wasnt trimmed, mac and cheese was without cheese but rather pasta with a sprinkle of cheese, the prime filet was ordered med rare and brought out rare minus. good service
Very overpriced for the quality of food. Sat at the bar and the service was good. We will not be back.
This was our first time and we were impressed. The food was delicious but our service wasn’t great. Looked like our server had too many tables.
This is a quality restaurant serving above the grade meats and sides. Food was outstanding.
It was a very quiet night when we dined, probably because of the rain. But the service was great and the food was wonderful. I loved the chicken mint soup. Very tasty.
Everything was great with the food and our sever. I was just disappointed as we got seated 20mins after our reserved time slot.
Disappointed prime rib is off the menu. Waiter gave a lame excuse why off the menu and he was horrible. Never came back to the table to check on us and had no recomendations with no prime rib. Food was good but not like prior visits.
Fabulous! Best steaks in east bay!
This restaurant has gone down in both service and food quality since they closed for their kitchen renovation. The waitstaff is pleasant but just not as good as they were in the past. While It still has a nice ambiance - it is regrettably no longer worth the price.
It was great! Can’t wait to go back
great food, great service, great time
waitress was very helpful
First time there for Valentine's day and service was way too slow. I understand it was vday but it took 30 mins for the server to take our order. I think he forgot to get back to us. We had to flag him down to get our order. I believe if we did not flag him down, it would have taken forever to get to us. We were hardly checked on. A bit disappointed.
Staff was very accommodating and efficient. Nice setting fo a special occasion.
It was a Valentines Day dinner. They were busy like every place would be. We were seated, but we were not acknowledged for about 15 minutes. However the host that sat us noticed and apologized. That was good looking out on his part and offered a free appetizer. We did take the offer. The pork wings were tasty and just enough heat. My wife's Filet Mignon was perfect. However I ordered my New York medium. It was more rare to Med rare. I didn't want to ruin the dinner so I ate it as is. It was good but a little too rare for my liking. My wife did not like the use of the IPad for the wine ordering. Esp the amount of light it puts out for a dim restaurant. She would prefer a traditional menu like the food and desert menus. I will try to get her to give it another try , she is so use to Flemings and has always preferred them. We will have to see.
We enjoyed a quiet lunch at Forbes Mill. The waiter was appropriately attentive, the bread before our meal was hot, the food from the menu was delicious! We are returning diners and will recommend Forbes Mill to others.
Great food, great service. We had a very nice time at Forbes Mill.
Lunch was delicious and, Robert, gave us phenomenal service!!!!
We were celebrating a birthday and the service was great...Our server was very personable! Most of us ordered the fish & chips and it was good...I asked them for tarter sauce and although they don't normally have it, they came out a few minutes later with their homemade tarter sauce and it was delicious!!
Service was slow. Waitress prefers to "remember" the order and say it back rather than writing it down. Food was very good. Ambiance is very nice. Everyone is friendly.
Though I have lived near this restaurant for many, many years, I'd never been. What a shame! The food was outstanding. Our steaks were perfect and I'm still dreaming of the amazing mashed potatoes. We were celebrating a family birthday and the night out was just great. My only complaint would be that it is a bit noisy. It was tough hearing people across the table.
So good like always! If you are a meat lover , you definitely need to go there.
There was too much time between the starter & the service of the entre. It was a kitchen problem & the same thing happened to friends of ours the week before. This previously had not happened.
I thought the quality of the food was not quite worth the price.
We were very disappointed as we had chosen this restaurant to celebrate my 70th birthday. Made reservations 2 weeks in advance. We were offered a table next to a table of 8 loud men instead of a cozy booth. They had just seated a walk in couple in the last booth. Our waiter did the best he could but had 10 tables to take care of so the service was very slow. The food was Okay but it was so noisy we had a hard time visiting. I won’t go back.
Very good service (Team serving), Fine selection of both fish and meat dishes. Outstanding dessert menu.
Amazing experience. The staff was very attentive and the food was amazing.
This place continues to be a "Go to" restaurant for me. The staff is ALWAYS attentive and knowledgeable. I had a steak and my wife had sea bass. My wife wasn't sure she would like the sea bass "as advertised" on the menu and asked if they could do a "simple grill" with salt pepper and a fresh lemon squeeze - they prepared the fish perfectly and to my wife's liking with no fuss. BAM! A great night!!!
The steak was really good! The sides were just ok with a lot of cream. The service was odd with two servers. I went there expecting white table cloths but they had white paper on top of the table cloths and thy didn't take away the crumbs after each course. We were told they would get us water but we ended up having to ask again. The menu was great in that it said "Happy Birthday" on the insert which was a really nice touch! Unfortunately they forgot it was my husband's birthday and brought the desert with no candle when throughout the night they had delivered deserts with candles to various other tables. The ambiance was ok but not like a true steakhouse--more like an old house. The carrot cake was cold and they were taking down tables and moving them around us before we started desert. The drinks were just ok. Would come back for just the steak.
One of the best filets I’ve ever had!
Disappointed. Previous experiences were excellent but not this latest occasion.
Mediocre service, less than mediocre dinner.
Only positive experience was dinner guests, otherwise evening would have been a total loss.
Hoping my comments will be acknowledged as constructive criticism and necessary actions taken to regain previous consistency & quality.
At this I DO NOT recommend Forbes Mill. Danville. Take your money & expectations elsewhere.
Excellent food. Server with a bad attitude and argumentative with our friend. Noisy with toddlers running around screaming and parents allowing. Will return again and again but not on a Saturday at busy hour. Food was superb!
Weird vibe in this place for some reason. The food was good not great. When we got to the entrance I was wheeling my disabled wife up and the hostess didn’t bother to open the door for us she just sat there looking at us. The wait staff was cold and unfriendly. It felt very unwelcoming. The thing that really turned me off was that when I payed the bill, a server came back to the table to get the signed receipt and looked at it while we were standing there to check the tip. I thought that was very classless. Once they saw we left a nice tip everyone spoke to us to tell us goodnight. I don’t think we will be ever returning to this place.
For a steakhouse the steak was mediocre at best. Not the first time. Won’t be back except maybe for cocktails.
I took my family here to celebrate my retirement. We had an EXCELLENT meal. Everyone at the restaurant was very nice and attentive. The only disappointment was that we had 6:30pm reservations on a Sunday and they ran out of Prime Rib. Apparently there was a large party and most ordered the Prime Rib. We were also sat next to a table that was loud (celebrating a birthday)...but that was NOT a big deal. Two of us had the surf and turf (fillet and lobster tail). It was delicious...but for $76/ea We thought it was a bit small). Overall, the night was wonderful. I have been to this restaurant before and will absolutely be back!
