About this restaurant

  • Vegetarian-friendly
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
Forage is a farm to table neighborhood bistro in Cambridge right off of Harvard Square. Through partnerships with local farmers, fishermen, and foragers, we create a seasonal menu served in a comfortable setting. We offer tasting menus every night, and proudly accommodate all dietary restrictions. Wine pairings or non alcoholic cocktails pairing are available to compliment the meal.

The bar program at Forage works closely with the kitchen team's zero waste efforts to make innovative cocktails, using locally sourced ingredients. The biodynamic wine list focuses on natural wines from small producers. We have special pours available every night, and often open bottles that aren't on the menu.

Chefs Eric Cooper and Alycia Palame draw from global cuisine's to create a hyper local, creative menu. The menu changes everyday; come see what they've gotten up to today.

We sat on the outdoor deck, which was quiet and very pleasant -- a plus for a warm summer day. We shared a small but tasty salad. My wife's meal, blue fish with asparagus was excellent. Mine, a hangar steak was well prepared, but despite a seasoned butter (?) sauce, was bland (as may be typical of this cut). One accompaniment, braised lettuce was overly ample but tasty. The starch was a very airy corn cake that was cold and sparse on the corn -- not very good. Our wine per glass was not exceptional, and the most expensive per glass of any restaurant I have been to in Cambridge, including a top-rated one, and, the glasses were small. We had 3 glasses in total. The bill came to about $165 without tip -- in my opinion one can spend a quarter less for a better meal elsewhere.

This was probably our tenth visit to Forage; doesn't that say it all? We have always come for the Tuesday evening prix fixe dinners with wine pairings, but the a la carte menu looks enormously tempting as well. Forage is really our favorite restaurant in the Boston area. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the service is attentive while being unstuffy. The real star is the food. It is never merely great; it is always superb and surprising. The greatness of the food comes mostly from the flavor combinations, which are often unexpected but always successful. We always leave this restaurant with smiles on our faces!

We always have a great experience at Forage. As a vegetarian, I am very appreciative of the vegetarian tasting menu option! The smoked tofu was especially delicious. It's exciting to try something different every time we visit!

I got the omnivore tasting menu and the partner got the pescatarian tasting menu. The amuse bouche was tasty pickled cucumbers and radish. The dessert was a really rich and delicious sweet potato chocolate brownie. Those were the highlights. The rest of our meal was bland, unimaginative, and very overpriced for the quality and type of ingredients. I’d only return for the great NA drink options and a bar snack if I was in the area. Otherwise it’s a miss.

We truly enjoyed dining at Forage! This was a first-class, top-of-the-line — and authentic — dining experience that introduced us to all sorts of new and exotic fare. Exceptional for vegetarians — also great for omnivores! We especially loved the “pickles and ferments” and leek appetizers - as well as the mushroom tagine, cod, and pork chop entrees. The wait staff were not only attentive, but supported each other working as a team. They stood by to explain any ingredients we inquired about and made the dining experience even more fun. The desserts must be mentioned too as they were unique and tasty! The key lime graham cracker ice cream sandwich was out of this world — and we also enjoyed the black cherry and sweet potato brownie - I especially enjoyed the raspberry chocolate sauce! This was the perfect spot for a food adventure with friends!
