​Forage is a farm to table neighborhood bistro in Cambridge right off of Harvard Square. Through partnerships with local farmers, fishermen, and foragers, ​we offer a local, seasonal menu served in a casual setting.

The bar program at Forage ​delivers classically crafted cocktails that have a focus on seasonal and locally produced ingredients. ​Forage also boasts a carefully curated and approachable collection of organic/biodynamic wines, and a selection of beer from independent and innovative breweries.

​​At the helm of Forage is owner/ general manager Stan Hilbert, chef Eric Cooper, and bar manager Joe Choiniere. The trio worked together for seven years at Ten Tables in Jamaica Plain. ​

Lovely and creative food-roasted carrots and BBQ duck, cheese souffle, mascarpone & harissa.

Great drink with bitters-Saratoga.

This review is specifically about the Feb. 11, 2020 champagne pairing dinner, but this restaurant is so consistently good that it can almost be generalized. The food, as always, was outstanding, with only one miss in my opinion. The rutabaga "ham", the mushroom sausage, the peppercorn crusted pork loin, and the optional cheese souffle were all terrific. The tofu mousse and duck liver mousse "whoopie pies" were likewise terrific, but the cookies that enclosed them, while very interesting and tasty, were not a perfect flavor match. That is a very faint criticism of one course of a superb multi-course meal. The "citrus situation" dessert was incredible. The champagne pairings were fascinating and really complemented the food. So, another unimaginative review of a very imaginative restaurant.

This is my go-to restaurant for a nice night out with the spouse. It's quiet & intimate, and the staff is always friendly and nice. The waiter overheard it was my husband's birthday and brought his dessert with a lit candle- he was tickled and I looked thoughtful. I like how the menu is seasonal and there are always very tasty meat-free options that make you think differently about eating your vegetables. You'll leave wanting to take another crack at cooking that celeriac you got in your CSA. Of course, the meat dishes are good too (I had the best chicken I've ever had at Forage.)

Meatless Monday (6 vegetarian courses for $45) was one of my favorite meals in Boston and an excellent deal! I will be back to experience more creative dishes soon.

Very creative and tasty food! Service warm and professional. An unexpected glitch came up, but Forage handled it very well, and we had a very nice night. If driving, look at parking situation ahead of time and allow some time.

Absolutely loved the experience at Forage. Our waiter was excellent, funny, responsive, willing to chat about the food and the process of creation by the chef. The food was adventurous and totally unique to anything I’ve had before (I’ve eaten at a lot of farm-to-table). 10/10

My early evening weekday dinner with two friends was quite enjoyable. We were given personal attention and liked the unhurried pace of dining mid-week. The foraged winter options were quite interesting, and we found the sunchokes very tasty. If you like the farm-to-table dining experience, Forage should definitely be on your list of restaurants.

Wonderful Cambridge dining experience! Warm and cozy setting in the basement of a brick harlow apartment building. Outstanding, warm and friendly, knowledgeable staff. High quality food with unique, farm-to-table ingredients and attractive presentations. Will definitely come back!

Excellent food in a cozy environment. We appreciated the menu variety, especially the excellent vegetarian choices, and being able to move to a quieter section of the restaurant at the start. We also enjoyed being able to linger at our table rather than rushing out after dessert.

Fabulous food and wine, delightful and inventive. Very attentive service. Went on New Year's Eve, and despite the restaurant being utterly full, the noise levels were completely reasonable and conversation was possible. There was a prix fixe menu for the holiday which had great choices. We'll definitely be back.

This was our second time at Forage and both dinners have been fantastic. They have beautifully presented, thoughtfully sourced, and truly original new dishes each time we come. I have a fairly restrictive diet including being vegan and they are more than accommodating - they celebrate having specific needs. The service is also outstanding and we went through no fewer (and maybe more) than 5 changes of silverware and plates over the course of the evening. Highly recommend!

The food is pretty good but service is unbelievably slow -- it took us nearly four hours to have a four-course meal plus cheese course. Also, the value for the normal menu is great ($55 for a four-course omnivore or pescavore meal, $45 for vegetarian or vegan), but the optional cheese course is stupidly overpriced ($10 for a barely-composed "plate" with some nuts and dried fruit, bread, and (I am not exaggerating) a half-ounce piece of cheddar cheese. I could not believe I was being served something so ridiculous as a "cheese course".

The best dish, hands-down, was the sunchokes, which were amazingly good and we could easily have eaten a giant bowl full. Everything else was just OK.

The hidden entrance on the side of a building in Cambridge, Forage was surprisingly elegant, perfect for an intimate meal. I had the pleasure to celebrate my friends' birthday and we tried the vegetarian tasting menu (vegan tasting menu was also an option), 4 courses for 45 dollars per person. The plates were pleasantly presented, decent sizes, but the taste was good but personally not my preference. I would definitely go again.

I had eaten at Forage last summer and had a very mixed, if not unsatisfactory experience. My return was due to a gracious invite from the owner to come back and try it again. I'm glad I did, because this time I had an outstanding meal and service. A friend and I had the price fixed meal for two, which was more food than we could eat, and a nice variety of sides and extras. The wait staff was pleasant without being obtrusive. The atmosphere is small and cozy--perfect for a winter evening. All and all, a big thumb's up.

Excellent upscale low key restaurant with a short menu. Very accommodating to our interest in the wine selection process. Excellent service during the snowstorm with a parking space available for us!
