Tuesday Wine Dinner at Forage$90.00 per person

The food was delicious as always, we loved the unique dishes. The staff were amazing and very accommodating.
Not exaggerating -- our favorite place to eat in the entire greater Boston area!
The food at Forage is special. It’s handcrafted, includes lots of unusual berries, mushrooms and flavors and is vegetable forward. The quality is superb. And while things are unique they are not overtly odd. They are delicious. We went there last night for a wedding anniversary. We began with cottage cheese pancakes (outrageously good, with the crunch of fresh peas) and purple peppers stuffed with Asian accented eggplant. Divine. My husband had a hake dish that included a dollop of homemade mayonnaise very lightly perfumed with juniper. It was one of those things where you knew it tasted a tiny bit different in a yummy way but you had no idea what it was.
Service was warm, attentive and helpful. Forage serves unusual winds from small wineries and the ones we had were very good. This is the very definition of a neighborhood restaurant. Chef Stan and his team create the kind of warm feelings that extend outward in beautiful ripples…
Fantastic meatless meal with friendly service! Great progression of courses, concluding with one of the best desserts I’ve had.
We decided to splurge a bit as this was only our 2nd time out for dinner in a long time. We were both very happy with the delicious food and the attentive service. Of special note was the cottage cheese pancakes! We were tempted to order them again for dessert they were so good.
Looking forward to return soon and so thankful that Forage was able to weather the covid storm.
I tried Forage a couple days ago. I have some dietary restrictions and the staff went so far as to prepare the dishes on the tasting menu around those restrictions just for me. I haven't had this much care from a restaurant in the past, which is what motivated me to write this review.
Extremely good, interesting food. Delicious drinks. Definitely a good spot for a special occasion.
Ariel’s service was so wonderful, with us learning a great deal about the fabulous food and drinks/wine we ordered. As plant-based foodies, we were impressed with all the provided selections, and especially the 1st course of perfectly roasted and incredibly flavorful broccoli, cauliflower and a yummy sauce…and ending with a beautifully presented and light dessert that was creative and the ideal ending to our super-special meal. Thanks to the entire team who made our first (& def not last!) visit to Forage such an unforgettable experience. 😘
The good: Very nice service, interesting venue, cool cocktails, vegan options (including a nice rice pudding with rhubarb sorbet)
The bad: Vegan tasting menu was pretty disappointing! One of the courses was essentially just steamed broccoli and cauliflower with toasted almonds and cherries. Although the food was not bad, it was certainly not worth $60/pp. We really wanted to love this but left feeling hungry and bummed
Four of us went out and enjoyed the tasting menu. Initially, the service was a bit slow/so-so in terms of getting attention (20+ to get our first round of drinks from order and our waiter was not quite so attentive). However, once we put in the order for the tasting menu, both service and food stepped up and everything was so interesting and dilicious. One of the staff did an excellent job educating us on the uniqueness of the wine selection and how it paired with the meal (we did the wine pairing). Overall, a great dinner and evening at this special place!
Cozy neighborhood place. Pleasant, casual service. Knowledgeable wine person. Main courses very good. Appetizers reach for creativity but only achieve oddity. Wish they would just keep it real.
It was a delightful experience to dine at Forage and chat with the staff. I really enjoyed having quality food and wine in a relaxed environment.
Great meal with friends. Menu was varied and wait staff were very informed on plate composition and ingredients (some exotic to me). Cozy, low-stress environment.
Birthday dinner. Wonderful service and great food and wine!
Good food at exorbitant prices.
Always a lovely placed to go, incredible service. We go almost every year for my birthday and a few other special occasions and always feel inspired to try new cooking ideas at home and content.
Stan is the man – we had a great time at Forage for their Tuesday wine menu. Each item had a fun and unique pairing and the food was as delicious as it was unique (i.e. pickled flowers??). At each course we got the full story of the winemaker, the specific bottle, how that related to the food, etc. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!
The wine dinners are wonderful. Great pairings of unique and delicious wines with very, very, very innovative courses. I love going to FORAGE because I always have a very tasty meal with interesting ingredients prepared in delicious ways. This is our "go-to" restaurant when we want to have a great meal. And, the prices are very reasonable. So, a great "price to performance" ratio. Enjoy.
Fantastic wine dinner with great picks from sommelier and beautiful food -- farm to table.
We enjoyed the ambiance and quiet meals. Our party of 4 was first set of guests of a Tuesday.
We heard about good service and wine pairing before we went and was not disappointed. Our favorite was steak with Rose butter. I gave 3 starts for food because I had expected more momentum in a pre-designed menu. One plus was each dish has fresh ingredients .
Delicious food with very cool ingredients I'd never tried before. Definitely fun to taste new things. Staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining different dishes and drinks.
Vegetarian tasting menu. Everything was delicious, surprising, and inventive. Cocktails delicious. Service warm and cozy, as was the space on a weirdly chilly and rainy summer Friday evening. Has always been a top-tier recommendation before covid and that has not changed.
Great food, but stingy with the Glass of wine.
We had a really delicious dinner. The wine list is fabulous, and we loved eating outside.
They mostly serve locally harvested foods (as in nettles, muscles, radishes, etc) in very simple preparations. Prices are very high. The (temporary) outdoor seating is ok but the chairs are not comfy at all. If they will keep the outdoor seating post pandemic, maybe they could invest in furniture that is more comfortable and less cheap? Living t=in the neighborhood, I want them to survive as a restaurant and do well, but that may require that take their concept of simple local foods a bit less seriously and branch out in terms of their menu. As it stands now I do not feel any need to frequent their restaurant again in the next year or even two. It's expensive and not that special.
Forage makes every dinner feel like a special occasion. We were there for the Hungarian wine dinner. All of the pairings were spot on and the portions were generous. The labneh and the bluefish were favorites and we always love the different takes on their delicious chocolate nemesis. My favorite part of the wine dinners is always Stan's explanation of the wine and how he found it.
We sat indoors - tables were well spaced with air filters between each. Front and back door of the restaurant were open to provide additional air flow. All staff members were carefully masked as were patrons as they moved through the restaurant.
Our third visit. High end for us. They do a great job with local and seasonal ingredients. If you're into fiddleheads then this is the type of place you will enjoy. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. We got the chef's tasting menu. They asked about our dietary preferences and then tailored their choices to our dietary needs (no gluten, keto-friendly). The chef chose to include the lamb shank. It turned out to be gristly and not up to the standard we expect of this restaurant.
Their food, comprised of often-unusual ingredients, is the high point of Forage--extremely creative, exquisitely presented, and delicious. If you're at all curious about it, the servers (mostly) will regale you. Setting and ambiance adequate as a container for an otherwise singularly wonderful culinary experience--if you love excellent food, are curious, and open. I hate to write a great review like this since getting the word out may make reservations even harder to get. But what a great experience (consistently--since we go to Forage with some regularity)!
forage is a hidden gem. I have lived in this area since 1999 and only discovered it recently. Excellent service and food. Probably one of the best restaurants i have been to in several years in the boston area. Will definitely visit again and again. One challenge is parking...they should do valet especially for the winter months
Forage is an excellent restaurant. They have set up a cordoned off outdoor seating area that was a pleasant location on a warm spring evening. While the restaurant lacks parking, friendly staff have printed, easy-to-follow directions for nearby free on-street parking.
While our first time eating at Forage, it was apparent that the restaurant is all about seasonal produce. Fiddlehead ferns were featured last night (May 21, 2021) and were artfully prepared. One of us even had a cocktail which included fiddlehead-infused scotch!
We will definitely be going back!
So so good. Everyone there is wonderful and the food is amazing. We always have a good experience.
Wonderful food, wonderful service. Great place for dinner.
I love this place. A very special neighborhood restaurant. Creative menu, cocktails, and wine selection. A unique dining experience.
Innovative, thoughtful, tasty. Best wine pairings for courses at any restaurant I have ever been to. Always a delightful meal.
Food was very creative, more often than not delicious, and always generous servings provided. Chocolate dessert was especially pleasing to the group.
Nice food, good service, pleasant ambience, quiet enough for conversation.
Absolutely the best dining experience in the Boston area.
Forage was a cozy revelation. The food, beer, wine, and cocktails are excellent, as is the service.
For a restaurant as expensive as this one, I would expect a reasonably nice atmosphere and consistently good food. Instead, the restaurant was plain with no attempt to make it pleasant, as it appears. The bread and salads were great but the main course lacked anything special about it and left me feeling quite disappointed.
Seafood succotash was a sneak peek of summer in a bowl. Last summer's corn, delightful beans, light broth, generous squid, scallops, and mussels, topped with contrasting peppery arugula and sweet, briny crab. Such a delight! Uplifting. Great to see the Forage team as well. So kind and knowledgeable.
