We had an amazing time sampling Forage's tasting menu and the unique wine pairings. Despite being short-staffed, we had a well-paced meal full of special dishes. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We can't say enough positive things about our time at Forage.
The tasting menus with wine pairing are amazing!
If you are looking for something really unique, an off the beaten track restaurant, with delicious food that you could never make yourself, never mind know where to buy the ingredients this is the place for you! We shared four appetizers between the four of us for starters, then went on to enjoy quail and steak. There were many new tastes to try. I really liked seeing fiddleheads on the menu! The staff was very conscientious and corner table was private and cozy!
We went to Forage for a birthday and had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent, had the manager helping and chatting with us. Food was unique and the flavors really interesting. Will go back!
We've been to Forage four times. Every time the food and drinks have been amazing and we've received great service.
Mussels and skate were out of this world. Wine wecommendation by waiter was wight on!
The food was great. The service was friendly, and the vibe unpretentious.
Wine dinners and special events they throw are absolutely remarkable. Not to be missed! One of the best dining experiences in New England EASILY.
I had the greatest birthday dinner at Forage. We got the tasting menu and it was absolute perfection. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful. They did it right. Great flannels. Excellent visit.
The outdoor dining section was chilly, but the vegan tasting menu was delicious and so much fun to try!
I was looking forward to this dinner, but our food was very lackluster (especially since we paid ~$100 per person for prix fixe!). Our non-vegan party members definitely had a better meal than the vegan ones, so I would not recommend the vegan prix fixe (one course was bland brussel sprouts with ginger for the vegans, while the omnivores got mussels and really good looking bread)
The wine pairing was the highlight and the staff were great.
The wine and cheese pairing with the vegetarian tasting menu was a real value, some excellent and not generally available wines. In addition to the wines and cheese the other highlights were the salad and the desert.
Excellent service in a delightful spot. Very responsive to my request for gluten free dinner options. I'll be back.
Fabulous food and attentive service.
We shared a tasty roasted fennel salad, a delicious turnip steak and OK seafood stew. The service was prompt and friendly. Seating was reasonably comfortable but would have been a bit hard for a longer meal. The decor is eclectic and homey. Efforts to make the restaurant more COVID-safe were appreciated but the result was a rather cold draft, and the restaurant filled up with (necessarily) unmasked diners, so make your own judgment on your comfort level. Prices were somewhat high for the amount of food but understandable in the current context.
A delightful establishment that we're lucky to have. Exquisite food and drink that displays personality, thought, and attention to detail rarely seen in such charming surroundings.
The 4 course meal option on Tuesday was delicious! Our wait staff was very knowledgeable on the food and wine we were served. The ambiance was nice as well.
Amazing out of the way spot. The food and staff exceeded expectations. I will return.
Simply the best in every way. The people who forage, prepare, and present this nourishing and gourmet fare make it our family's favorite special place to celebrate.
Loved the Tuesday wine pairing dinner. The mushroom starter, the smoked salmon, and the flummery dessert were highlights!
We went for the Tuesday Wine Dinner. I have a number of allergies and the staff were very accommodating in that regard, even with the Pre Fixe menus. The food & wine were top notch. The staff were very nice and very knowledgeable about the food and wines that they were serving. We'll definitely be back soon!
Ordered the tasting menu and key proteins and produce were in both the appetizer and main. Felt like it could have been better planned and executed.
Just the loveliest evening. Amazing food, wine pairings thoughtful & delicious. True hospitality
My husband and I went out for our anniversary dinner. We sat indoors although there was an outdoor dining option. All staff had masks on and asked that patrons wear when not seated at the table. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious including bread and broccoli rabe as starter. My husband had fisherman’s stew and said it was wonderful. I had the roasted squash with pork loin. It was fairly good—not a fan of the mushrooms. Wine was crisp and floral but appeared to be small servings given a $15 per glass price. We ordered the peach cobbler with peach and olive oil sorbet which had crumble and nicely baked peaches. Overall a great dinner and lovely atmosphere.
Deeply knowledgeable staff cares about food and wine and the chef is imaginative without being precious. Ambiance of a cafe; 5-star food and wine!
Service here was great. The food was good, but did not quite match the prices.
Quirky but okay service.
One entree and one dessert weren’t edible.
Stuffed pepper app was a highlight.
A delightful covered and outdoor patio with heat lamps had been created, with inviting little lights. Staff was super attentive and accommodating. My friend did not like the way the eggplant was cooked and when asked how food was, and she said "okay", she was offered a replacement meal. The char fish and accompanying couscous salad was cooked to perfection and very good. We also got 2 small plate appetizers. The mussels were great, very tender and the squash and cashews added a flavorful twist. The brussels were great, crunchy and tasty but it was difficult to cut them off the stalk. The peach cobbler with sorbet was good. There was no cream available for the coffee, only milk. Parking is a challenge .
One of the best most creative meals I've had in a while.
Great for special occasions. Wonderful service and adventurous menu.
I went to Forage for wine with a friend for my birthday. The Iggy’s bread was INCREDIBLE!!! And the Olivares rosé was beautiful. The “condiments” that come with the bread were melodious to taste and I cannot wait to go back.
Nice location, very convenient and comfortable. People very friendly, supportive on every request, servicing with the right pace, feeling like you can keep your own, no rush, no wait. Food outstanding, recommendations to be followed, no bad surprises, only tasteful and well balanced, refined food.
Overall good, both meat and veg options. The bread was terrific;the vegan butter option was amazing - even better than the dairy butter.
Food and service were poor for the amount of money we paid.
Forage is consistently wonderful, and I think it's because of the excellent staff, who truly make their guests feel at home. The food and wine list helps!
This is a go to restaurant anytime I travel to Boston. The menu changes regularly based on in season ingredients, the service is excellent, and the staff are very knowledgeable about the food ingredients and preparation. The staff also provide a detailed description about the wines including their history. However the distinguishing characteristic of Forage is the tasting menu with omnivore, pescatarian, veggie and vegan menus to satisfy a diverse group of diners. Kudos to Forage and can’t wait to return to Boston to dine here again.
Amazing outdoor date night spot. Must speak quietly which is romantic. Top cocktail game. Vegetable-forward sophisticated contemporary menu.
I give them credit for trying to be unique and different but it just doesn’t work. We got the tasting menus and our first two courses were tomatoes different ways. Mussels with butternut squash and cashews do not go together. The cheese board had watermelon on it and it just got the crackers all wet and didn’t help the meh cheese (and only one type on the cheese plate). We had high hopes for dessert but alas, it also had tomatoes and a very overpowering anise ice cream. The flavors and textures of the meal just did not work together.
