I had eaten at Forage last summer and had a very mixed, if not unsatisfactory experience. My return was due to a gracious invite from the owner to come back and try it again. I'm glad I did, because this time I had an outstanding meal and service. A friend and I had the price fixed meal for two, which was more food than we could eat, and a nice variety of sides and extras. The wait staff was pleasant without being obtrusive. The atmosphere is small and cozy--perfect for a winter evening. All and all, a big thumb's up.
Phenomenal restaurant, super knowledgeable and friendly staff, amazing food, every bite. Highly recommend.
Love the use of foraged foods cooked to perfection!
I had two wines that were outstanding. A red "Forage Blend" and a Rhone. Those two are worth returning for.
Excellent upscale low key restaurant with a short menu. Very accommodating to our interest in the wine selection process. Excellent service during the snowstorm with a parking space available for us!
There was four of us we got the meals it was incredible.
I've been to Forage several times, and it's always a wonderful experience. The food is inventive and imaginative, much of it locally sourced, preparations always intriguing without being absurdly fussy. Service is excellent--one of the best restaurants in Cambridge.
First of all the help was very pleasant and knowledgeable. This, in particular was worth noting. The food was very good, especially the roasted beets and purple sticky rice that came with the chicken. Very unusual flavors and good combinations. The wine recommendation was very good and the cocktail, odd in its description was interesting in a positive way.
Great food, great drinks. Will definitely go again!
We love going to Forage and letting the chef "take care of us"... just trust that what we are treated to will be delicious and wonderful. The Tuesday night tasting menus with wine pairings are very creative and well designed. We also love the cozy sub-terrain warmth of the restaurant. It is perfect for a cold-winter, romantic date night.
Everything was outstanding including the service. We did the vegan and vegetarian tasting menu and every single dish was amazing. Even the bread to start was delicious. Drinks are unique and delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough. Definitely come with lots of time if you plan to do a tasting menu as it is 6 courses with breaks in between. Simply amazing.
Always a phenomenal experience! The staff is friendly and welcoming, the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is romantic and cozy. My boyfriend and I went on one of our first dates here and we always make it a point to go back when we’re in town! Forage is a very special place for us and we know it will be for all those who chose to dine here :)
Forage was overall great! We went on a busy night, and service was pretty slow (but quite friendly). Otherwise, the food was generally interesting, thoughtful, and delicious.
The apple dinner presented an interestingly conceived dinner with unusual and unexpected pairings. We especially enjoyed the smoked Northern Spy as an indicator of surprises to come. The pause between courses gave us some time to exchange thoughts about our food, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Very consistent, high quality, inventive with impeccable service. Always a great experience.
Highly enjoyable dining experience. We were last at this address under the previous incarnation. Forage is preferred as less pretentious. The decor is wonderfully calm, relaxing and the bread is excellent. The music is at the right volume for background if you need it, but not when you want to talk. Creative food, modest (minimally wasteful) portions and an excellent wine list. We'll be back.
Excellent food and service!
The food was good, just way overpriced for our party's opinion. Cocktails were decent as well.
Forage is just as you would expect. Forest to table food and excellent mixed drinks with exotic super local ingredients. Excellent.
As always, I was treated royally by Stan (the owner) and the amazing staff. They are attentive, engaging, and entirely knowledgeable about the food and the wine. The food never disappoints and is always amazing.
Incredible farm-to-table fare. And Stan's knowledge of small wine producers adds so much to the enjoyment of the wine and the food.
Delightful meal, great fresh farm/table food and charming engaged service!
Excellent daily menu of locally sourced fare. Excellent service and atmosphere.
Long wait for mediocre food.
Service was off; long wait for first course; when that finally arrived, a omnivore one was delivered instead of a vegetarian (for the wine tasting, set dinner, which two of us had ordered). Had to wait about an hour, total, although the wine "pairing" was delivered first, by a min. of 15 mins. for each course. Not exactly a pairing. Couple at table next to us left after drinks and waiting about 1/2 hr for first course; they discussed leaving with waiter who responded that he'd prioritize getting their dish out and abruptly left. They decided to leave. Our 7:00 PM reservation ended around 10:00, which was about an hour longer than a leisurely visit should have entailed. Food was very good with exception of first appetizer dish of turnips, which were under cooked. Wine pairings were excellent, other than the delivery.
The food is always creative, delicious AND wholesome. I am gluten sensitive and my daughter has a dairy allergy, but that is never a problem for the forage staff. I enjoy learning about the menu items and the wines from the staff who are always friendly and interesting.
Cosy spot especially for a cool evening. Will return for a wine dinner.
Forage is an absolute delight - located in the basement of a residential building off a quiet street in Cambridge, the entry way had a speakeasy flair to it (complete with velvet curtain separating the small coat area from the dining room/bar). Forage was very gracious and accommodating to our party of five which included two vegetarians, a diner with celiac disease, and several omnivores. Everyone in our group had plenty of delicious options to chose from (including a fantastic chickpea socca) and left full and happy.
Lovely space, intimate, and fun. Food was very good. Service was slow, but in a nice way - we did not feel rushed.
We recently visited Forage on a Saturday night. The food was outstanding. We were impressed by the taste of simple ingredients. I would recommend Forage to anyone looking for a tasty meal. The staff was attentive but not pushy. We had a great time.
Great options for carnivores and gluten-free vegans! Great server and an all-around great dining experience!
Wonderful food. Great staff.
The portions are too big and a bit underseasoned.
Food was outstanding. Best combination for a vegan and a meat eater we have ever been to.
Amazing!!!!
The ambiance was nice and quiet, and the owner was very courteous.
One of our guests was a local farmer and she said she found the restaurant to be a "very interesting" venture. Food was delicious and unusual, with refinements of flavor one expects from best restaurants.
Forage is consistently one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
Everything was excellent and despite staying well past closing there was no pressure on us to leave.
The service was friendly from the hostess, to the servers, to the food runners! The food was incredible and the portions were awesome! We got the 4 course vegan option and the vegan sausage which were ALL delicious. The cocktails were works of art and tasted great too! We were visiting from NYC to celebrate our 4 year anniversary and they made it very special for us. Couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate! Thank you!
