For years I have used Open Table for Dining while traveling (173 reservations) results have ranged from very good to outstanding. This is the first time I have experienced such a terrible result. Nothing was good at this restaurant. Felt it when we walked in and should have left but decided to stay and give it a chance. Big mistake. Server tried hard but even that was not so good. Cocktails were terrible (how hard is it to make a gin and tonic). Sent the first back but gave up on the second and did not drink it. Waited forever to get the drinks. Atmosphere is pathetic and borderline dirty. Bottle of wine was good, Menu looks good but the execution is poor and unappetizing. I am amazed at the ratings, was I in the same place??? We sat at the bar, no interaction the staff just stood and talked to each other. This would have been a bad experience for $50 but for $175 it was disgusting.
Food was delicious. Excellent use of spices. Exceeded all expectations.
This place is a must go to. The food is fabulous, we have had almost everything on the menu and it's all excellent. Staff is courteous, friendly, and professional.
Surprised at how tasty everything was but it was really really cold inside. Cellar like in more ways than one.. jambalaya good and chicken too.. if it’s warm nice n cosy otherwise ask to turn AC down
I love everything about this restaurant. Hats off to the chef. My friend and I love Jacquline. She’s my favorite server and I love her energy . I love the shrimp and grits. I will visit this place every Saturday if possible. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This place looks like a dingy basement. Not a nice, cool, eccentric find, but a spartan, unadorned, cave. Not even a man cave, more like a cave man cave. Our waitress, she was perfect. Couldn't ask for better. Food, sub par. cakes, just okay at $10 per slice. Coffee was weak and lukewarm. Food? Well, the hollandaise sauce on my benedict was pretty good, it is unfortunate the English muffin it topped was burned. But if you were looking for char, that was it, stronger even than the sauce. Collards, cooked to perfection and then ruined with over-vinegering. Finally, I must say, the Texas bacon was the best bacon I've had in my life. Suggestions if you want to visit? Order the bacon for take out with hollandaise sauce and find a park.
Love the food! Menu awesome! Service slow but we
Had a great time outdoors and the puppies weee happy in their stroller! Our Sever was so good, just things came out of the kitchen a bit slow! But we were in no hurry so it was perfect! Love the Escargot👏👏👏👏
I love this restaurant. A trip to Tallahassee is not complete with their French Toast
The cinnamon buns were delicious with cream cheese topping!
Service was excellent and the food was great. Incredible dessert menu and drink menu
They did not have my reservation. Neglected us for a long time. And we were swarmed by flies at our table when the food arrived. All in all, a disappointment.
Wasn’t expecting a brunch menu on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
This is our favorite restaurant in Tallahassee. When we visit our son we always make our way here!
Had several small plates. All were good nothing exceptional . Green tomatoes were the best. Pasta could have used more seasoning. Desserts wonderful. Service was attentive. Ambiance nice.
Could use more vegetarian dishes .
Our server, Priscilla, was excellent. She checked with us frequently to find out if there was anything we needed.
Very expensive!! Not really worth the price. Just okay.
The “mackin cheese” was great!
Best Long Island Iced Tea I’ve Had to date
Service was a little slow at the beginning, only because they were crowded but our waitress did a great job. Food was excellent. We all enjoyed our dishes.
Excellent food and service. Ambiance is more like a diner than a fine dining restaurant. Poor acoustics makes it very hard to converse. Nonetheless, a great restaurant overall.
Food was delicious. Service a bit rushed and sloppy. They brought dessert on top of uncleared dinner plates. Never brought the coffee we ordered. But friendly and kind.
Wonderful spot. Always love being there. Our daughter asked to eat there last night before she headed to college today. A special dinner (and dessert)!
Food was very good with only one exception. Grouper entree delicious, as was lamb plate and fried green tomato salad. Scallop plate was blah...not terrible, but little flavor. Service was fine, but unexceptional. Other waitresses seemed more enthusiastic/attentive than ours. We reserved through opentable and noted that it was our anniversary, but no one acknowledged that.
Tasty but the gem was dessert!
The food was inconsistent. Half was fabulous and half was awful. The service was passable. The atmosphere was fantastic.
Loved it! Delicious drinks beautiful food decadent dessert. MUST GO!!
The inside was dark and seemed a bit dingy; cushions in the booth were cracked. Food was pub level - oysters had more breading than oyster, crab cake (supposedly one of their signature dishes) was so salty I couldn’t eat it, could be imitation crab. Escargot was mixed with so many other ingredients it was hard to find the escargot!
It was really great!! I loved the atmosphere and the food.
Always delicious, great service and just a fun place to meet friends!
Hadn’t been in a while. I had the seared tuna steak and it was excellent!!! Will be back soon!
Three of us met for brunch. I had requested outdoor dining when I made the reservation.
Our server, Vivien, was excellent.
We all liked our entrees. We enjoyed an unhurried 2-hour meal, along with "bottomless" mimosas.
The outdoor tables and chairs are metal. The one criticism I have is our dishes and silverware were placed directly on the table, without even a place mat. A table cloth would really be a nice touch.
Food was exceptional, as always. Service was friendly, but not always as attentive as we would have liked. Perhaps he was very busy with other tables.
We enjoyed the overall experience, per usual.
Lovely setting, good food. We enjoyed eating outside under the fans.
We were looking for a fine dining experience while visiting Tallahassee and FGF filled the bill perfectly. The staff was knowledgeable about the chef’s menu for the evening, and were friendly and attentive. We passed on ordering an appetizer because FGF is known for it’s excellent bakery offerings. We did choose two different half salads - the house and the Greek - and they were both wonderful. Fresh greens, house made dressings and unique flavor pairings. Thanks to our server for recommending the half salad because the full serving would have been too much with the entrees we ordered. My husband chose the Grilled Tuna Piccata and I went with the Caramelized Salmon. The fish was prepared to perfection and the sides were very tasty and paired well with the protein. We chose two different wines by the glass from FGF’s diverse selection and were very happy with our selections. We finished off our evening sharing a generous slice of Baklava Cheesecake. Yummy!
Food was great service a little lacking .
We throughly enjoyed our meal at FGF. Ordered off the small plates menu and enjoyed every bite. Ordered two desserts and next time will just order one. Service was quick and well trained. Next time we will order after ordering cocktails as our food arrived before our drinks.
I walked up five minutes before my reservation. One lady was there giving instructions to the workers about getting her table in the right spot.
While I was standing there in front of the wooden stand a foursome came up and knew the worker. They didn’t have a reservation and he sent them downstairs to get a table. I was still standing there and had to to say excuse me I have a reservation. Oh I didn’t see you. But you saw the four people walk right past me because you knew one of them.
He lied that he didn’t see me because another worker walked by me several times and ignored me.
The service and the food is not the way it used to be. The two employees that were near me didn’t have any social skills
The French toast I ordered didn’t even have a taste to it. This was my second time I have eaten there in two weeks. Two weeks ago my omelet was soaked in grease from the cheese. This time the The group sitting near me were very loud and no one said anything to them. It wasn’t their private dining area and birthday party area. And others that are eating don’t want to hear their loud political conversations.
I gave the restaurant a second chance but this second experience won’t get me back again. FGF used to have a great staff and chef’s but it has gone away.
We had a languorous meal, and a 1/2 dozen tables occupied on a Wed. nite, so service was excellent, food beautifully prepared & cooked. Halfway thru meal, restaurant became like a sauna, making it more and more difficult to enjoy our time there. Their a/c needs to compensate better... can only imagine what it's like with a full space on a Friday or Saturday.
Wonderful food, great ambience, excellent service.
The experience never disappoints at FGF! We were promptly seated upon arrival and immediately greeted by our server. The tuna dip is our favorite! Overall, we always enjoy the atmosphere, food and service here!
