Thanks to Pier and Rebecca for making our experience amazing!
We were there for a birthday celebration.
We had another wonderful dinner here at Food 101. We ate earlier in the afternoon, so the ambiance was fairly quiet. The food and service were, as always, excellent. Our waiter was very attentive, and offered good suggestions about the menu. We shared the Charcuterie Board as an appetizer. My wife tried the Ahi Tuna au Poivre, while I had the Seared Scallops. The "pepperiness" of the au Poivre sauce, and the combination of the fennel, mushrooms and arugula with the scallops gave the dishes a very distinct flavor. Overall, a great experience, and we will return.
we went for brunch for first time. Wow, menu and food are outstanding. our server (Jamie) couldn't have been more attentive, knowledgeable, and patient with our taking time to savor appetizers then brunch. be back- couldnt have been more pleased, and we have high expectations. thanks food 101!
First time close to home. We loved it. We will be back
Very disappointing meal. Started off with mussels, which were completely flavorless. They were "beer steamed" but they tasted like they were steamed in salt water. Very sandy too. Then we shared the tuna and the crab stuffed shrimp. The portions were comically small. There was barely 3 oz. of chewy tuna and the shrimp contained 3 medium sized shrimp stuffed with a tablespoon of two of breading. These were barely appetizer portions and the two entrees came out to over $50! Do not recommend. Food is below average and extremely overpriced.
Have gone in the past for dinner and didn't have great experiences. LOVED it for business lunch though and will be back!
Easter Brunch
Everything was right!!!
Next time we will request a table away from the kitchen area - dishes making a terrible racket does nothing for the ambiance. Suggest they make an actual kitchen to alleviate the noise level of the dishes.
It started bad with our waiter taking our coffee order first, stopping by a second table, taking their coffee order (typical) but when another couple joined the 2nd table, our coffee (he came with 4 cups) were handed off and only creamer delivered to us, 6 more minutes for coffee to be delivered. Waiting for a refill of coffee, clearing of the table and getting the check was incredibly slow, and unexplainable with maybe 60% of the tables occupied. The food was above average, but the service, even from a floor manager, will keep me out of there
The food and service were excellent. It had been about 10 yrs since I had eaten at Food 101 and the quality has not changed. I would recommend to everyone.
Always a wonderful meal at Food 101. The menu changes seasonally, so you might always find something new and interesting. But, if ever in doubt, the fried chicken is NEVER disappointing. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
Moved away from the area, but revisited this gem for drinks and dinner. Food was cooked to perfection, a nostalgic rush of what it means to have a great chef in the kitchen. Most front of the house staff is different from two years ago, but friendly and great service. Worth the drive to come back for a visit, this place was a favorite when we lived several blocks away. Go visit - even if only at the bar - and you'll want to return.
Waitress was really great and attentive. Brussels sprout appetizer was yummy. Entree and salad food was a disappointment, how do you mess up both entrees.
Waitress was unprofessional. Ordered my NY Strip steak medium rare, but it came medium to well done. The entire meal seemed like it had been soaked in salt, and I like salt. Almost inedible. Cappuccino was not a real cappuccino but bad coffee with foam. Table was slanted and slippery and one of my guests' glass of water fell off onto the ground. Water and ice everywhere yet the waitress made little attempt to clean up the mess. Ordered tobasco with my meal (love tobasco om my steak) but the waitress brought it toward the end of the meal....you get the (bad) picture.
The food was excellent, yummy brunch with huge servings! Service was also very attentive.
Sunday brunch with the girls -- Staff was very attentive yet we were not rushed and the food was delicious. We had waffles, omelettes, deviled eggs and the horeseradish / bagel chips apps.
This was our first time eating at Food 101. We had dinner on a Friday night and the place was only about half full. The service was friendly and attentive, but for the most part the food was uninspiring (burnt entree) and overpriced. We won't return.
Brunch was delicious and the roomy booth was perfect for catching up with a good friend.
Nice venue for clients, had a special Short Rib Pimento Cheese sandwich and was outstanding.
Great meal; Great Service. Another wonderful experience at Food 101.
Nice bourbon list, but they didn't have the one I ordered.
Food and service was amazing! My colleague came from downtown and I traveled from north Gwinnett county - found this place on Opentable and decided to give it a go. So glad I did! Next time we hit Chastain, we will absolutely check out 101!
The food was very good, but it was quite loud and lacked the ambience we enjoy on a date night.
Menu had limited choices and the quality of the food was terrible. My salad had not one green leaf in it. Our chicken wings were incredibly dry. The burger was dry, the crab cakes that cost $28 were clearly not fresh and mushy. Wine was good, bread was great. The service was rushed and we were not informed of all the specials. Then to top it off, the manager came and lurked over our table and coughed and sneezed. When we left it smelled of smoke. Not our style of restaurant. We will not return.
The food was decent but not great. Wait Service was quick and not as friendly as it should have been. Issue with the beer selection. Was out of my 1st four options and didn’t seem to care. They were transitioning from draft to bottle beer so not much available.
It was wonderful! Awesome food-mussels Unbelievable! Sarah our server was amazing! Very attentive!
I made a reservation for Valentine's Day because the special menu looked interesting. But our experience was subpar at best. Although I noted on the reservation that my wife is gluten-free, the waiter acted surprised when I asked for a recommendation. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant and although other guests were offered their preference of tables, we were not. Our waiter was nice, but it took over 10 minutes for him to arrive at our table, because apparently the waitress who was supposed to be serving us forgot we were her table. Probably because they added this table in the middle of the restaurant for Valentines Day. But worst of all, the food is just not good. My crab cakes tasted like mush. The puree that came with her scallops tasted like cardboard. We later found out that the head chef has only been with the restaurant for 6 months and probably should have offered a limited menu for the holiday since he clearly was not accustomed to Preparing these meals. The restaurant has apparently been around for almost 20 years, but it sounds like they have gone through several chefs and if our one experience is indicative of the norm, I wholeheartedly would not recommend this restaurant to anybody.
Very disappointing. The waiter recommended the scallops. They were served on something that was ice cold. The scallops were not even warm. The plate was disappointing.
We were rushed through the meal. Almost had to hold onto our silverware to finish.
i love Steak 101 and their sister restaurant did not disappoint.
Charcuterie plate was very strange and only had two types of meat and the cheeses were unrecognizable. Food was also not very tasty and we couldn't finish our meals.
Maybe things weren't clicking this past Saturday night, but it was a less than enjoyable experience. After ordering wine for my date and a draft beer for me, I was told they had discontinued their draft beer. If you are going to make that move, I would assume you could update your menu. So after ordering THREE different bottled beers and being told "we are out of that beer" I gave up and ordered wine. Not a big deal, but this process took 15-20 minutes.
I really appreciate the small portion entree options.
Brunch is so much better.
The server was the best part of this restaurant experience the food quality was very low and the price was just more expensive than it should be.
Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious!
It is just a matter of time before this place becomes huge. It is a great spot for brunch.
After being seated we were told the restaurant was out of a number of things (Ahi Tuna , pork, Asparagus) so I ordered a filet only to have the waiter come back after about 15 minutes to say they were out of the filet. I ordered something else but he came back to say that they got a filet from their sister restaurant in the same center. We got there at 8:00 and finally got our meals at 9:20. Steak was smaller than listed on the menu and the baked potato was cold in spots. In spite of the food problems, the service was good and our waiter apologized for our wait. We were given comp drinks and appetizer and a discount on the steak. Still very disappointing for what used to be a very good restaurant. Food 101 concepts may have outpunted their coverage with the addition of their other restaurants.
Food 101 was off their game this evening. Our appetizer chips were well over cooked. My wife’s crab cakes were luke warm and swimming in too much sauce and my meat loaf was burned. They also ran out of the chocolate cake dessert. They have done much better than this. This dinner felt like they mailed it in.
I only gave the service a good because I had made reservations as it was our anniversary and we met for our first date at Food 101 one year ago. We arrived exactly on time, the hostess asked us if we had reservations, we did, and then she proceeded to tell us that the "restaurant was full and we would need to wait for a table". We went to the bar and ended up staying there as Brandon took care of us for both drinks and dinner.
