Very nice as always, but even more expensive for lunch than I remember. A special salad with salmon was $32, which seems excessive, even for there.
I enjoyed lunch with a good friend for a long catch up. We took our time and were not hurried by the wait staff. The food was delicious, pricey for lunch, but that was our choice to order salmon and scalone with espresso drinks, appetizers and dessert. Food was served hot and quickly by an attentive server.
Great food and excellent service.
We hadn't been to Fontana's in a number of years and yet it continues to provide excellent food in a very nice restaurant with excellent service. The Italian dishes are authentic and wonderful. The servers are pleasant, attentive and efficient without hovering. We dined after a marvelous performance of 9-5 at Foothill Theatre, arriving at the restaurant about an hour earlier than planned and no problem getting immediate seating. My wife's sister and her husband were with us and it was their first time at Fontana's. Her husband has Italian heritage and he was very pleased with the food. Go, Enjoy, go again.
We had a lovely fresh meal, prepared with finesse, before attending a concert. We split the artichoke appetizer. I had the gorgonzola salad with a delicious steak addition, and zabaglione for dessert. My friend had pasta carbonara and the sorbetto. We each have different food intolerances and the server was very helpful in helping up negotiate the menu.
Really mediocre Italian food esp for the price. Server was nice but main courses were ready way before we finished appetizers so it wasn’t as hot as I’d like— angel hair stuck together in a blob because it cooled down so much. Really nice, spacious, pretty restaurant though
came in 15 min before closing and staff treated us great :) Ordered the calamari as an appetizer which tasted fresh :) even the batter was light which is rare. For entrees we ordered a risotto and a prosciutto pizza which left me wanting more after each slice. Awesome experience will def come again.
I informed the hostess when we arrived at the restaurant that we were celebrating a birthday. I expected some sort of mention of it from our server. There was nothing at all. She couldn’t seem to get our orders straight, kept forgetting things. The food was so-so. And then to have to pay an extra tax for living expenses! I just don’t see that as the patron’s responsibility. I won’t be returning.
Foods and service was great. We will be back
Fontana's provides consistently good food with excellent service at a reasonable price. We often go there before Flint Center events. We appreciate the convenient location. Also, it is possible to have a conversation with others at the table without hearing conversation from other tables. That is a real plus in Silicon Valley.
Always dine at Fontana’s before going to Celebrity Forum. It’s the best food and service
Portions seemed smaller than prior visits, service was good, ambiance very nice
We all enjoyed a nice dinner and desert. Friendly service, and best of all, you can have a conversation!!!!
Our waitress was attentive and friendly.
The service was great, however the food was average and over priced.
Service was good for the first half of our meal and then the waiter disappeared. We liked most of our food, but two of us ordered the scallops and they had an off, fishy taste, like they'd started to go bad. The lasagna was good. We weren't unhappy, but for the price, there are better options.
The food was delicious and was enjoyed by all in the party. The service from the host the server was supperb.
We’ve been going to Fontana’s for years. I must say Our favorite dishes aren’t as good as they once were. The price has gone up and the quality down. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable. The atmosphere is inviting and warm. Just bring back the great chefs!
Everything was very nice at Fontana’s but we should have asked how much the special cost. We were surprised when we got the bill - the charge for spring pea ravioli and scallops was $38, which seemed very high for lunch.
Always a very good authentic Italian experience. A very nice Valentine's Day experience.
My wife and I are went for Valentine’s Day dinner. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Then there was a long gap in getting our drink / appetizer order before another long gap before getting our dinner order. There were long gaps in between getting our appetizer, dinner and desert. We were there for 2.5 hours in what could have easily been an 1.5 hour dinner. They were definitely slammed as all restaurants are on Valentine’s Day, but I couldn’t tell if they were understaffed or if it was just poor service. The ambience was great and the food was solid, just over priced, but that’s the Valentine’s Day tradition.
We enjoyed our meal and the service. Our only comment was the seating was a bit close to other diners. Since it was a week night and the place wasn't very crowded we were hoping to be seating in a quiet area. Unfortunately we were seating about a foot away from diners on our left and right (on our right was a group of people who talked loudly. So it was difficult to hear each other for our special occasion). There were whole sections that were empty during our time there so it would have been nice to be seated in a quieter area.
This is my mom's favorite restaurant, and we eat there every time I visit her. Service is always excellent, food is consistently wonderful, and the whole place has a great ambiance. Noise level is often a little high because it's busy. Get a booth toward the back if you can.
It was super Bowl Sunday. So it was more quiet than usual. food is always good.
I always enjoy going to Fontana's. Noise level is low, so you CAN carry on a conversation, service always excellent, and food has always been very good.
In summer you can have lunch outside, and also dine if it is warm. Ambiance is also very nice.
We love going to Fontana with family, kids and friends. Great location, great food and great ambiance
Great food, cocktails & dessert
Enjoyed the round table near the fireplace, although it was a bit close to the table near us
Service was very attentive
Hostess was very welcoming
Fontanas is one of our long time favorite places to visit. Never have we been disappointed in the meal or the service. In fact, the waitstaff is incredibly nice and they go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your visit. One of the few places that have Scalone on the menu - Fontanas is the best!
Glad i found it again - after a long time. Good food and quiet, so easy to have a conversation over lunch.
I cannot recommend Fontana's after my first dining experience. The place was quite busy but they were woefully understaffed. After being seated my wife and I waited over 15 minutes until the waitress came to our table. After ordering drinks it was another 15 minute wait. We order appetizers of which only one came before our entree which was another 30 minute wait. The second appetizer arrived with our entree which I refused. The lasagna was good but my wife's order of pasta with proscutto was quite inadequate as to taste and the lack of virtually any proscutto. We were never offered water or bread and butter until we asked and then the bread never arrived. Also, given the overall quality of the food and service it is very overpriced with nothing in the way of added value. Quite disappointing actually.
Probably the worst dining experience ever. Started out fine, waitress was pleasant and we ordered a fine bottle of wine, then the appetizers arrived (after an hour) and the calamari was worst ever... all fried bread crumbs and hardly a taste of calamari, and the mussels had no flavor what so ever, I swear they were sitting in dish water. The Caesar salads were inedible... the leaves were actually wilted and brown. After an hour and thirty minutes passed and our main courses still had not arrived, we told the waitress we were leaving other wise we would miss the show at the Flint Center. By the way, as we looked around, most of the other tables didn't have their food either. As we were leaving we told the receptionist about our experience, she offered us free desert coupons, we just laughed and said there is no way we would ever come back to this place.
We dined there before an event at Flint Center (along with many others). The service was terrible. They were not at all prepared to handle a crowd before a show. Several tables were complaining, as people were not being serviced, receiving the food they ordered, etc and we were all concerned about making it to our show. We did have a reservation. To top it off they messed up our bill at the end and delayed us further. The food was good, but nothing special.
We used to go to this restaurant a lot in the past and were always happy. Now we have moved further away but decided to go before an event at the Flint Center nearby.
The service was abysmal. We were ignored for about 15 minutes before we even got water. Then we had to flag a waiter down. It was 55 minutes before our food came. My husband's eggplant parmesan arrived cold, my gorgonzola salad had microscopic amounts of gorgonzola on it, my friend's pizza was both burned and soggy on the bottom. Our other friend had a decent meal. We had left plenty of time but all left with indigestion from the stress of being rushed. My husband insisted they remove one meal from the bill because it was so bad. They did. They were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed. As we left the restaurant, we saw a large number of plates on the counter waiting to be delivered. I have no idea if this is typical of how they operate now or whether they had a bad night. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants when we lived closer. Now I would not go back.
The night we went they where short staffed and our server was way stressed out. Nice but stressed. Food (pizza) ended up burnt so they took it off. Maybe another time when there're fully staffed and we're not pressed for time.
We had a 5:15 reservation so we could be at a show at Flint Center by 6:30. We were seated promptly, but it was obvious immediately that there was a serious staff shortage. We were seated for 15 minutes before our server arrived to take drink orders, so we decided to order our meals at the same time we ordered our drinks. It took another 15 minutes for the drinks to be delivered, and a full 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Bread and water were brought to the table a couple of minutes before the meals arrived. We both ordered eggplant parmesan. Neither meal was served hot. The Brussels sprouts were cold, and the eggplant was lukewarm. We decided to take most of it home so we could heat it up the next day. Because the meals took so long to arrive, we asked for the dessert menus before we finished the entrees. We ordered creme brûlée, which, again, took 15 minutes to arrive. It was the first time either of us had ever had cold creme brûlée. It must've come straight from the fridge and they forgot to heat it. I don't blame our server for any of this. She had a huge area to cover, and most of the customers were headed to the show at Flint Center. We saw her take numerous complaints from other customers, and we felt sorry for her because there was one lady who read her the riot act. The couple at the next table cancelled their entrees after waiting as long as we did for our food. We were able to make it to the show on time, but we won't dine at Fontana's again before a Flint Center event, even tho they're so close to each other.
Some good value wines with very good menu options and great service! We arrived just prior to a huge influx of diners before a local event center performance and were advised by our server!
Time has close to Close Down. The food was flat and the service was worse . Hard to imagine Charging $25 for spaghetti meatball
Fontana's is a wonderful place to enjoy a delicious dinner and fantastic service. We have been going to Fontana's at least twice per month for over ten years. The regular menu has a nice blend of steak, seafood, and pasta and there are always intriguing specials. Charlotte, the owner, has always been a delightful host and she has assembled an amazing staff, many of whom have worked alongside Charlotte for years. You don't always see that level of loyalty in the restaurant business. Great spot for regular weekday or weekend dinners or special occasions!
