Fonda - East Village
Great service and delicious food. Love the margaritas.
We had a nice meal here. The staff were very friendly and the cocktails were good. The guacamole is definitely worth trying!
Very nice staff- very accommodating to my party which included a toddler and a preteen.
Lovely friendsmas! Thanks for accomodating, food (especially the guac) and drinks (especially la piñata) were amazing!!
Horrible service. Not good for large groups or birthdays.
Overall great experience. Drink refills were slow at times but they’d bring multiple at a time if you requested it. Food was fantastic.
So fun! The food was amazing -- and the margaritas were strong! Went for bottomless brunch, but I definitely want to go back to try other things on the menu. The brunch selections were still great!
My husband arrived on time but I was late trying to get the kid to bed with the sitter there. When I arrived 30 minutes late I explained to the host and he was very understanding and sat us right away. The margaritas were really delicious and the guac was perfect. It took a bit to get our drinks because it was quite busy but that was the only hiccup. It's pretty loud because there were a lot of big groups there- it's not a quiet night out but the vibe is fun and the food is great.
Great food, great drinks, great service, definitely will visit again.
Amazing chips and guac! The food was fantastic even though they were relatively small plate. I got the Carne tostadas and had no complaints. The only issue for me was that one of the bartenders seemed to be a bit annoyed to be there while the other provided fantastic service to my friends and me. Overall, I had a great experience and would go back.
Service could have been better. Our water was always neglected and it took them forever to deliver one of our dishes. Food was amazing as always
This was one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved to Alphabet City in 2015, and I've kept coming ever since. I've only been for dinner, but the atmosphere is usually lively. The mezcal flight is great and the food is phenomenal. I'd recommend for anyone looking for fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price (for NYC).
Outstanding food. Great service from top to bottom. Best Mexican in NYC!
The tortilla soup is fantastic! Art meets ceramic bowl, beautiful presentation! We thoroughly enjoyed our entire meal! Very good service! Thank you Fonda!
The food is authentic and well-prepared. No matter what we have ordered, everyone is very pleased. Only drawback is the high volume of the music that inhibits conversation--we usually leave by 7:30 for a theatre curtain and by then, the noise level is extremely high. We would never go there past 7.
We had a delicious meal at Fonda! The guacamole was incredible - highly recommend. The drinks and food were fun and so yummy. Would absolutely recommend this great spot!
Ambiance of the restaurant is nice and service was good...but boring Mexican food....guacamole was good, nice and spicy but our entrees were nothing special.
We are coming back to Fonda in the east village location after 2 yrs. we felt the quality of food dropped. Did the chef change ?
Been here 5 times. Every time the staff was on top of their game. The cocktails are always creative and made with care. The food this time was the best we’ve had (grilled shrimp over green rice & chicken with beans and salsa. ) and it was good before. It is a little loud because everyone is having a good time.
Great, lively venue to share a good time with friends. We went all in from cocktails to dessert! My table ordered the skirt steak and it was on fire! And let's not dismiss the fish tacos and super fresh salads! Oh the guacamole, well, it was insanely delicious!
Rosie our server for the night, was on point with everything. Great service!
Great food. Great drinks. Excellent service! I wish the entree portion was a little big larger. But not a big deal!
Waiters were not knowledgeable. happy hour only at the bar. taco tuesday NOT ALL tacos involved, and ceviched was a bowl of diced tomatoes with a few shrimp on a place of more tortilla chips. that was sent back. Huge disappointment
Other diners were shouting and screaming during brunch. It is a small place. I was unable to have a conversation. The staff wanted me to handle it. I was told dinner is a bit quieter. It wasn't, the music made conversation impossible. I was told they are instructed to have it that loud. I can't eat it there again. This was my 4th try because the food is so good.
Great spot for brunch. Really appreciated the variety of drinks you could try for the bottomless option. The food was good and our server was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back.
Very surprised it's rated as one of the best Mexican in NY...really?!
Not impressed at all with food - fried fish taco was mostly mayo and other sauces and not much flavour of fish. The ceviche was very poor and again covered with lots of other stuff, such as nachos and mayo. Even the margarita was bad, so diluted and weak.
The service was very good though...but I was actually there for a tasty dinner which unfortunately didn't have. More a bar than a restaurant.
this was a great choice for a birthday celebration! I am quite pleased.
Excellent food. Excellent service
Great happy hour and baby friendly, if you’re in the corner of the bar the stroller fits great!
Best happy hour in the east village. Staff is nice and attentive but watch out for flautas, they’re spicy.
Poor service, rude and unaccommodating. Had to consistently ask different servers for the same thing because it wasn't brought to us. Ex. We all ordered drinks and received them except one person and we had to ask 3 different people over a span of 20 minutes where his drink was and they were obviously annoyed with our asking.
Great. Very great.
Guacamoles was great and the corn as well. The soft tortillas served with the guacamole is a great touch.
Awesome brunch with bottomless drinks. Food was very authentic and served well. This is our 2nd time here and we will be back every time we come to the City !!!
The food is delicious and for a laid back Mexican restaurant it cannot be beat.
Best guacamole, corn tortillas, carnitas tacos and maduros in the area. The staff is super nice.
busy and sometimes a bit loud and cramped
but some of the best mexican in nyc
2 locations un Manhattan
my go to for mexican!
All was delicious and great experience !!!
