The brunch menu is very limited and if you don’t like eggs then you probably won’t find a brunch entree here. I had the burrito and it was meh. Definitely not great and I only ate a few bites. They slather it with some type of sauce so it basically tastes like a soggy burrito I’m my opinion. The few bites I did have were only from the inside (eggs, potatoes and chorizo). My friend had the French toast and she also only had a few bites. She said it had a weird taste and it was too sweet. My other friend had the torta and she said it was “interesting” not wonderful but it was okay. The guacamole was good and the drinks were good as well. Overall not a place I’d recommend or go to again - for brunch anyway. Their menu is totally different for dinner so I may give them another shot.
Food was delicious and authentic. Everything tasted homemade and had a ton of flavor. Margaritas very well made. Guacamole was outstanding as were the filet tacos and enchiladas suizas. Service is polite and friendly without being too intrusive. All around great experience!
This was my second time having brunch here this month, both times with friends from out of town. The first time was great, but this time the food portions were half the size for the same cost. When I pointed it out and even showed pictures of last time, I was giving two excuses - one form our waiter and one from a cook. They said they would get a manager, but they never did and they didn't bring it up again. They just totally ignored it, and from that point forward the service was extremely slow in getting us drinks, bringing the bill and cashing out.
Waiter was very eager to help and his recommendations were good. However the drinks were VERY weak. I was actually convinced there wasn't any alcohol in my margarita. I'm a lightweight and can feel it after a glass of wine- I was stone cold sober after two margaritas.
I had Fonda bookmarked for the longest with the intention to try it out. I'm so glad I finally had the opportunity to do it. The food, the service, the ambiance were all top-notch. The food was so fresh and the flavors were so vibrant, your taste buds were doing a happy dance. I can still taste the flavors. I highly recommend the Red Snapper dish and the guacamole, but what my friend ordered (steak dish) was delicious as well. The service was superb. I see why everyone raves about Fonda!
Delish and everything we were looking for in a Sunday brunch for gal pals. The waitress was so nice and made sure we got the most out of our bottemless brunch. Food came out quickly even though they were quite busy and it was delicious! Loved the guac also and that rosarita - a must! :)
Fonda is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the City. Their food is both innovative and authentic and the portions are huge, which makes their prices a good value. I always take home enough food for another (equally delicious) meal, so next time I might actually choose to split an entree with a friend. Recommend is the Queso Fundido as an appetizer to share - it's outrageously delicious if you are cheese lover. Carnitas - a huge mound of crispy and tender roast pork - is also an excellence entree choice. To drink, I love the Hibiscus frozen margarita! Service is very friendly and attentive. A+
While my individual grades were good, overall our meal was overshadowed by the initial hostess meting. We arrived more than 20 minutes ahead of time and the restaurant was not yet open for brunch. We asked if we could wait at the outside tables and they said yes. I told them we want to be seated out there anyway. When the restaurant opened, people came in and stood in line to have their reservations taken as well as a party of three that was a walk in.
The hostess took them to our table and made my wife get out of their seats (I was in line) and rudely told them that we cannot sit there. When it was my turn the hostess was rude and said they were here before us and I told her my side and she ignored me and said that they can seat me inside if you want or not at all. If it wasn't for Mother's Day, I would have walked out after being treated like that as there are many other great restaurants in the neighborhood.
That said, our waitress was awesome and apologized to us and took very good care of us. The food was great and the bottomless brunch was worth it too.
So if you can not deal with the poor quality of the hostess and the lack of management process for reservations and since they didn't apologize but had someone drop off one little piece for cake for three people to share as "a gratuity", then go there for the food and the wait staff. If not, there are many other great places within a walking block all around Fonda.
