The food is truly authentic / “non-Americanized”. The drinks are delicious and the atmosphere is neighborhood-quaint. I will return many times!
Love this place! Our waiter was super on it with refilling our mimosas and everything came out super fast. My friend and I had a great time.
Great service, great food, warm and cozy. I went there for my birthday and absolutely loved it!♥️
My wife and I enjoyed the vegetarian dishes at Fonda. We ate there after a matinee in area. I'd go again if we we're in the neighborhood, but it wasn't special enough to go out of our way to eat there.
We went to Fonda on Sunday afternoon. Some friends have gone to Mexico and a person there recommended the restaurant. Some of us had the brunch with unlimited drinks for 90 min and others just had lunch with one drink. The menu is different if you have the unlimited drinks + main course ($35+tax) or the regular meal. We shared a delicious Guacamole with chips and then I had the carnitas which was pretty good. Other people had tacos that said that it was not something special (They were coming from a Food tour in Mexico) but for me the food was really good.
Service was good also and the server was all the time looking if we were happy and had all that we needed.
Great food, great service. I’ve visited Fonda at least 4 times and they’ve All been great dining experiences. The hibiscus margarita never disappoints! It’s a great local eatery with delicious food and nice atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
It took almost 1 hour for the food to come out of the kitchen, and it was very very salty, wrong texture, and cold. I could not eat the dish I ordered, so I had to send it back. This was my second time sending back the dish I ordered in 6 months. I wanted to try if they were okay this time, but no. Overall, the quality of the food was extremely poor. I used to love going to Fonda, but they are no longer watching the quality of their food, and the kitchen seems to run by people who do not know anything about Mexican food. My friend and I used to go at least twice a week to eat there since we live in the neighbourhood. This experience informed me I no longer wish to dine there. I cannot torelate it any more. It was very bad.
Awesome time, great food, great music, great service, great company. All and all Great time
My only real complaint is the noise level but that seems to be in all NYC restaurants these days. But as the crowd got louder ( screeching 20 something women) the music got louder.
The brunch menu is very limited and if you don’t like eggs then you probably won’t find a brunch entree here. I had the burrito and it was meh. Definitely not great and I only ate a few bites. They slather it with some type of sauce so it basically tastes like a soggy burrito I’m my opinion. The few bites I did have were only from the inside (eggs, potatoes and chorizo). My friend had the French toast and she also only had a few bites. She said it had a weird taste and it was too sweet. My other friend had the torta and she said it was “interesting” not wonderful but it was okay. The guacamole was good and the drinks were good as well. Overall not a place I’d recommend or go to again - for brunch anyway. Their menu is totally different for dinner so I may give them another shot.
