The food here was fresh and absolutely delicious. Cocktail was also yummy. The servers wore gloves and followed hygiene protocols given COVID19.

When you walk in and look at what people are eating you definitely want to eat there. We arrived around 5:00 PM and the tables were full and it was quite loud. We thought we might leave but we discussed the problem with the waiter and he put us in the back corner and lowered the music. By 5:30 most of the "brunchers" were gone and it would be quite a while before the East Village evening customers would arrive. We ate most of our meal with an acceptable decibel level. If too much noise is an issue 5:30 to probably 7 is a good time to experience the incredible food served at Fonda. The appetizers are especially delicious.

Poor service, they tried to kick us out repeat Eventbrite we were only there for less than an hour. The food was not great, guacamole was gross.

We came here for a birthday celebration and it turned out to be a terrible dining experience. The manager came over to our table and told one of my friend's he wouldn't serve her a glass of wine until she ate something, but made a pretty big scene about it in front of the rest of us and embarrassed her. When another person tried to talk to the manager about the situation he was completely rude to her and told her he didn't care if we ever came back to the restaurant. On top of it all one of us had a chicken bone still in our enchilada. Needless to say it was not the fun, birthday dinner I was hoping for and none of us will ever return.

The food at Fonda is consistently delicious with high quality and fresh ingredients. We are vegetarians and have too often been served dishes filled with mushy cheap filler, but at Fonda the enchiladas are full of fresh vegetables that have not been overcooked, and the spices and sauces are nicely judged. Highly recommended.
