I’ve been looking for good, authentic, Mexican food go awhile!! Fonda hit the spot! We tried multiple craft cocktails, the spicy guacamole, queso fondito, Carnitas and Rejenos, everything was delicious - would happily go again!! (Plus, homemade tortillas, yum!)
Let’s put it this way - after not dining for a looonnngggg time out - there’s no better place to go!!! There were four of us. Food - amazing. Drinks - ohhhh, La Piñata was such an excellent choice! Everything was fresh and served fast. We ended dinner with tres leches and only wished we could’ve stayed longer!!!
Best drinks and food. Always like to order there when feeling good authentic Mexican food.
Had brunch for two at 12:45 pm on a Sunday, restaurant was still fairly empty when we first arrived by by 1:30 was pretty full (within COVID capacity guidelines) - typical for brunch. Service was excellent - staff was very respectful and safe from a Covid standpoint and was very prompt and attentive. In fact, my boyfriend started to get up to use the bathroom without his mask on (without thinking) and before I could even say something to him a waiter was already on it which I very much appreciated!
Food was good, one item we had was awesome (Revueltos Estilo Veracruz) and another was fine but nothing to write home about (Burrito Texano.) As far as the included brunch drink options the Hibiscus Rosalita was my favorite.
Definitely will be back and would recommend!
Consistent quality. Been here 6x/yr since they opened. Good portions and always magnicent quality of thier proteins, plus perfection with their seasoning.
Waiters know the menu and are focused on good service.
You will pay for this, as there prices are commensurate to the quality.
Love love love their tacos! Service is great! Highly recommend bloody orange spicy margarita.
Unreal delicious!
Good food great experience
Food was outstanding! Stars of the meal were the fresh tortillas and the vegetable enchiladas. Will be coming back again and again.
Fonda is fantastic! The heaters set up outside are warm and the staff is incredibly attentive. Fantastic brunch deal too.
Fantastic meal, as always, in a cozy heated backyard patio. Everything from the margaritas to the guacamole to the enchiladas to the fish tacos is first rate. Fonda is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in New York City but don’t expect your usual Tex Mex burritos. This is refined cuisine, beautifully presented in an unpretentious way. The staff is helpful and friendly and I have never been disappointed in the many dozens of meals I have eaten here.
Wonderful outside seating setup out front and in backyard with lots of heat lamps! Outstanding service and food impeccable as always. Margaritas are always so good! Please go support this restaurant!
Great service, great food. We brought our toddler and they were accommodating and helpful.
Really hope this place lasts the distance through the pandemic as my husband and I absolutely love it. We bring every visitor we’ve ever had here. We came here on the day we got married, we came here for New Years Day brunch in 2020, then for New Years Eve dinner going into 2021. It never disappoints and at the moment they have a lovely outdoor dining set up that I hope they’ll keep once everything gets back to normal!
Just one of our favorite Brooklyn restaurants
Fonda never disappoints! This places is wonderful and has accommodated Covid restrictions so you feel safe to enjoy yourself.
The drinks are tasty and inventive, even if a bit pricey. The food is always top notch. I am always reminded of some of the wonderful restaurant we dined in while in Mexico City.
Try the croquets!
It was ok - but in the age of Covid ok is great
Went to brunch with my best friend and we did outdoor dining. The food was really good, and the frozen brunch margaritas were made really well. We had to wait longer than I would have liked before the waiter took our order, but also understandable in a pandemic. The food, service, and overall experience was good. Would definitely recommend this place to friends, and will be returning!
As always, delicious food and drinks. You can't go wrong!
Best Mexican cuisine state-side, yet! Everything was delicious.
We were disappointed with Fonda. It had previously been better and more worth the money (for example, $24 for three small tacos and small side salad). This time the service was slow and lacking: we waited forever for our food, and it all came at once, even though we ordered apps and mains. My friend order skirt steak medium rare and it was nearly well done. Good margaritas though.
Great food- really thought out lovely presentation!
It was fantastic. Probably the best tacos we’ve had in Brooklyn. All of the food was impressive. The service was outstanding. Definitely be going back for more.
Last minute we had to add two guests to the reservation and they happily helped us out. Food was spot on. Service was excellent
Food and margaritas were very good. Generous portion of guacamole that comes with tortilla and chips, must’ve been made of four whole avocados which I appreciate! Tacos are a trio of three small tortillas but are well filled and delicious. Restaurant had a nice vibe overall. Service was very attentive.
We arrived right on time and the hostess told us we were “too early” and we would have to wait even though there was an unoccupied table in front of us. Fifteen minutes later we were seated in the back next to a kitchen door that was opened every few minutes with a super bright light. No one came to take our order (not even drinks) for ten minutes. We had a gift card and left a credit card for the remainder which the server forgot to use. He said “you didn’t tell me” and proceeded to rip up the gift card in front of us in a huff. Honestly, I will never come back. All the servers seemed miserable and it was a terrible experience overall. I’m disappointed in everything.
Incredible as always.
The food is always delicious here at Fonda, but the margaritas are not as refined and delicious as they should be for the price. We were seated more than 15 minutes after our reservation. Our server misheard our order (it was loud in the restaurant), not taking note that we ordered guacamole as an appetizer. Our mains came first. When we addressed it, the server argued that we never placed the order for guacamole instead of simply fixing the situation.
Yes, with the caveat that if you want to have a quiet conversation, go somewhere else. The food is good but the bill adds up fast.
This was our third time and probably last. Food was ok, waiter was not pleasant at all.
Always great
This is my second time visiting a Fonda in NYC. There was a mix up with our reservation, but the host quickly ensured that we were given a table, and came to confirm that he had found our information in the system (& that we did in fact have a reservation). The service was excellent, the food was fantastic, and everyone in the restaurant was given a glass of bubbly at the end of their meal to celebrate the New Year - an excellent touch! I already have & will continue to recommend Fonda to others.
Amazing food! Great service.
Went here for my daughter’s birthday. The place was already packed at 6:00pm on a Saturday night but our table was ready for us.
The busboy handed us our menus, but no waiter ever showed up to take our order. We got up to grab someone to ask if the waiter could come over, which was kind of a pain to have to do on a special night’s celebration dinner.
The food took a while to come (maybe because we had ordered appetizers, idk). The guacamole was great and the fish tacos were too. The margaritas were perfect but it would’ve been nice if the glass was not half-full of ice. At $16-$18/drink, you don’t want to pay for ice cubes!
Overall a nice experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place for a fun meal.
Terrific brunch, freshly made tortillas, fantastic coffee. Great time!
We went to Fonda as a recommendation from a friend and I am so glad we did! All of our cocktails and entrees were amazing. The guacamole.. a must! Would absolutely go back if I am ever in the area again.
We had a very disappointing experience at Fonda, one of my neighborhood restaurants. I arrived with two friends for a 7.15 reservation. The food arrived quickly and we ate quickly, then my friends decided to have one more glass of wine. The minute the wine was on the table, the waiter put the bill down in the middle of the table-not good form. When I moved it over to the wall so we wouldn't be staring at it, he came over and put it back down in the middle of the table and continued to come over every few minutes to try to take it back, even though I explained that my friend still had a glass of wine in front of her and we hadn't put our cards down yet. I'm 8 months pregnant and my friend is a new mom-we were both looking forward to a nice evening out. The waiter/manager was so obnoxious about pressuring us to leave, we ended up barely finishing the wine. We were in and out in under two hours-not lingering for hours. It was an awful and unpleasant experience and one I won't be repeating. Shame the food is good and I live around the corner.
Beautiful, authentic food, great vibe. One of my fave go-to spots for margaritas and mexican food.
High quality food in a cozy setting with excellent service. The chicken mole enchiladas were amazing!
Excelente lugar para comida mexicana.
