Went there for Father’s Day. Good service and solid brunch. Was very pleased and would go back there for brunch again.
Fond is part of an impressive restaurant and neighborhood renaissance in South Phlly. Where once you could only get a cheese steak, you can now choose from a variety of really good places. Fond is one of those. It's a storefront place with a nice vibe. The service was very good and the waitress was knowledgeable about the wine list. My friend and I split a delicious ceviche (a special) and the tuna tartare, and then also split the scallops and the poached bronzino. It was all nicely prepared and presented and very good. Overall, this was a very good meal, very good service and a positive experience. It's a bit noisy, but no big deal. Definitely worth it.
Special menu that did not disappoint. A+ service in a great atmosphere.
Excellent service,food and ambiance..
Lovely dining experience... So good that our dinner guest from out of town went back for dinner the next night!
Another fabulous meal at Fond! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and did the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing. So delicious! Tuna Tartare - so fresh, the Wild Boar Pate - amazing flavors, and the Seared Fois Gras was the best I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection and served with mascarpone and berries. The pork belly was crisp on the outside and tender meat. But the best surprise of all was the delicious scallop. So sweet and tender! Dessert was yummy and all of the wines paired so nicely with each dish. This is one of my favorite restaurants!
Good terrific but much much too loud. This might keep me from returning.
Overall everything was good. Have always liked this restaurant since it first opened up the street many years ago. This time a couple small disappointments: our beef was overcooked even though we both specifically requested "blue", cold inside. Wine by the glass--pinot noir, selection was not great, overpriced--they only had one and it was way to light (like colored water). Everything else was good, and next time I will just order differently.
A wonderful meal in a lovely setting. We shared the tuna crudo as an appetizer and it was perhaps one of the most perfect mixtures of flavors ever! The main courses were equally delicious and perfect portions. I had the chocolate mousse for desert to finish things off. Our bottle of wine was reasonably priced and very tasty. Overall, an excellent experience that was well worth it!
Fabulous dinner try the bronzino and s hand crafted cocktail
We stopped for dinner after my wife picked me up at the airport. Food was very creative and very good. Service was attentive but not intrusive - as in just about perfect. Would recommend it and plan to return.
First off, the staff was extremely friendly and on point with every detail. We also loved the music playing. Secondly, we all chose the 5 course tasting menu, which was amazing. We could all choose different appetizers but ended up all agreeing to go for the same entrees. Our favorite appetizers were the West Coast oysters, Tuna crudo, wild boar pate, and octopus. For entrees we went with the Branzino and Scallops. The Branzino was really good but the Scallops were amazing...perfectly seared. Finally, as always, there’s a great wine selection for which the staff always knows how to pair perfectly with your meal. Well done!
Went for my sister's birthday. Service was wonderful, ambience delightful. Food was superb. I had the branzino as did my sister and it was excellent. Appetizers were creative and very enjoyable and the desserts wre marvelous. 5 stars across the board. Highly recommended.
Visited Fond for a Mom's Day brunch with my father-in-law. I thought it wold be a bit more upscale, but there were folks there in baseball hats and tank tops. Also it was very noisy. My FIL had the greek omelet and said that he's had better at Penrose diner. I had eggs and pork belly. Eggs were fine; the pork belly - although well-carmelized on one side - was otherwise gelatinous and inedible. On the plus side, the bloody marys were excellent.
First time dining here. Will definitely come back. Our server, Adam was attentive and courteous. Top notch all around.
Amazing as usual...even for cocktail hour. Our bar tender was amazing g as well.
delicious, great service and a great evening. staff was really gracious and welcoming. even though we were the last table of the night, we never felt like they wanted to hustle us out.
It was phenomenal, the staff was pleasant, bartender knew how 2 make a drink!!
Fond is consistantly one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. There is nobody in the city that makes fois gras better than Lee. You should go just for that!! All menu items are creative and delicious and the service is warm, friendly and professional. Fond is our favorite on Passyunk Avenue.
My boyfriend stopped in here for dinner before we went to a concert. The food was amazing, and we had a really good time as we made new friends as well!! Our service was pretty good, and the food came out in a timely manner. The cocktails are DELICIOUS!
Service was great. Food was delicious. Portion size is good if you are not a huge eater. Very cute atmosphere.
Wonderful evening with exceptional food, truly memorable. Loved the octopus/eggplant and the fluke ceviche appetizers.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Fond. It was my boyfriend's birthday and to celebrate they gave us an extra small plate and our after dinner amaro on the house! They made us feel special, never rushed and let us enjoy the experience. The food was interesting and different without being pretentious - it's best to think of Fond as serving elegant, elevated comfort food. Our server was friendly, drinks came out quickly and food was well timed. Fond exemplifies the best of what neighborhood, small owner restaurants can be.
Four of us went to Fond on a Thursday evening. The place was bustling and the food was awesome. Looking forward to our next visit back.
I had a great time with my BFFs..I will definitely be back
Had Sunday brunch. Very good. Great atmosphere and location.
We had to wait an hour past our reservation for a table. Food was great!
Fond has always delivered on the promise of delicious inventive dishes but our recent meal exceeded our high expectations. It is wonderful that the chef and staff manage to maintain such a level of excellence over the years.
Quiet and good food. Great for my first date.
Went here with a friend. The duck hearts were a little more charred to my liking. The duck leg was tender, but unfortunately the sauce was far too salty. I tried my friend's skate and it was delicious. Decent wine selection. I would eat here again, but I would find a different entre.
Excellent food and very attentive service. Worth a visit (or two!)
Special burbon dinner
Went here with a group of friends for Brunch and was highly impressed. I liked it so much I'm going to return for dinner with another group of friends a couple of weeks. The shrimp/crab & grits was delicious and so were the breaded pastries. My husband had the pork belly for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys. Overall this was an excellent brunch option. It's fit for foodies. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation.
loud, louder, LOUDEST!!!! Way too loud. Food and service good.
Simply outstanding; From the service to the wine, to the delicious food. I can’t wait to go back.
Everything was Incredible! The service, food and atmosphere! Highly Recommend
We have visited several times over the last 7 years or so, because of their "fabulous food".
I have not had a meal that was disappointing. Fish, meat or vegetables all deliciously prepared. Service was great. My one negative comment is that they have too many tables for the space which is small. They should get help to use the space differently ( use of a portable table that can be brought in or out) for example. With 5 people at a corner between back wall and window, we were cramped. Luckily a child and one thin woman could take the corner spot.
We will come again because of the food which is one of the best in Philadelphia.
Hubby and I have been meaning to try Fond for years! We have been missing out! Wonderful experience, with helpful and friendly servers. The food was amazing, as was the wine our server recommended.
I may avoid dining here in the wintery months...as it is a small place with no vestibule. When the front door opens the wind blows right through. Or next time bring a wrap!
Delightful in every way. Responded to my dietary restrictions with the highest skill, professionalism and delicious creativity. Superb waiter had perfect timing and manner.
Amazing food in a great ambiance! The bartender Carnie is fabulous and ridiculously talented!
