Great brunch choice. Creative menu well prepared and with fresh ingredients.
The servers individually were nice but the overall service was not attentive to the level you'd expect for what you are paying. Food was good but we were not blown away. It was my husband's birthday and we didn't feel as though we have been treated for a special occasion. There would be long periods of time where we weren't asked if we wanted another drink, and finally when we did they sat on the bar for a very long time. It seems if you were ordering bottles or doing the Tasting menu then extra attention was given.
We did the tasting menu, great service, great food... awesome night out!
Delicious food, nicely presented. Generous portions. Nice wines, knowledgeable waitstaff. Expensive but worth it.
Cozy ambiance with great service and food.
the food is exquisite, the service perfectly paced, friendly without being intrusive. Simple but elegant room with the background music at a level where you can actually have a quiet conversation. A perfect evening!
Delicious, creative and beautifully prepared food. Lovely , intimate ambiance and excellent, discrete and friendly service.
Very good but wasn’t wowed like I had hoped. Fabulous service!
Really enjoyed brunch, great menu options , delicious coffee and drinks. Everything was delicious!
Great food, lovely night out.
We loved this intimate restaurant and bar for its delicious, creative food and the fun, friendly service. Can’t wait to return and try different cocktails and menu items.
Still wonderful! Venison country pate was particularly toothsome as was the "lighter than air" chicken liver mousse. Fish dishes were spot on and the pork belly was delicious as usual (although, I'm not crazy about the Okinawan sweet potato side - a bit too heavy in my opinion)
We did the tasting menu and really enjoyed
The only drawback was the tables were too close together. It was tight maneuvering around.
We loved it! Great food. Great service from the second we walked in. Loved the drink options as well. Highly recommend.
Once again, Lee Styer and his staff crested both a wonderful meal and a wonderful experience. Carney’s “bartenders choice” cocktail was amazing. The monk fush was perfect! Thanks for a great night!
Excellent high quality food. Great experience. Will definitely go back to this restaurant.
Went for brunch with a group of friends and what an unexpected surprise! The room we were seated in was fabulous; adjacent to the kitchen so we felt as if we were at home. Our meals were all delicious and the service was so friendly and easy going again we felt part of the family. I’ll definitely return to try dinner!
Outstanding experience. Food was incredible.
I came here for brunch and the food and drinks were fine for the price.
The problem with the experience is that there was a large pipe dripping condensation onto every table in it's path. My party brought it to the server's attention and so did the table behind us. He insisted there was absolutely nothing that could be done and carried on, uncaring about the fact that two of his tables were being rained on (and doing a less than job at serving for the remainder of our meal). The restaurant was not full, but it did not occur to him to move any tables permanently or even temporarily while the mess was cleaned up.
It was fine. Food was good. I live in the neighborhood and most likely won't be back. Also probably won't tell friends not to go as I assume the patrons at every meal don't get dripped on uncomfortably.
Not crowded our evening. Fantastic, attentive service. We went with tasters’ menu with one extra dish from the entrees. Every dish was exquisite. We each had a cocktail and a glass of wine suggested by one of the staff to complement the food. We sat by an open window on a cool early fall night. A perfect anniversary dinner for the two of us.
Brought family and friends, visiting for the first time in 12-20 years. It was our first time. I chose Fond because the reviews sounded similar to my recent Paris dining experiences in small outstanding restaurants/bistros (with top chefs). I called in advance to inquire if they could accommodate a vegetarian, since so many of their signature dishes were not plant-based and we wanted the 7-course tasting menu. Without hesitation, they said “of course!” When we arrived, our group of 6 lucked out and were given the private table, next to the open kitchen. Wow! What an amazing experience, the tasting menu. Long-time Philadelphians in our group, who travel abroad frequently but who had never been to Fond, couldn’t believe they were in Philly. Welcome to Passyunk! Our vegetarian had never had such a resplendent array of dishes, so beautifully presented. He often remarked that the dishes were so artfully presented that he couldn’t eat it. But of course, he savored each dish on his menu with gusto, as we did ours, including seared fois gras (xtra cost worth every penny), rillette, pork belly, etc. The chef and staff were also extremely accommodating during the service and made a dish substitution for 3 of our diners, who preferred other options. One diner frequently commented that he had to try to replicate the dish! The ambiance couldn’t have been better. The private space, the open kitchen, the attentive and wonderfully friendly service, made Fond’s amazingly creative cuisine a truly special dining experience. I often have tasting menus. Fond’s portions and menu were perfect. For those thinking Passyunk might be a trek, we easily walked down to Fond from Race Street/Center City. Another group drove and found parking close by on a Friday night (7pm). Can’t say enough about Fond. 4 bells; a gold standard experience, as another reviewer commented. Warning: the bread is great but don’t overdo it like I did.
Amazing as always.
These guys are the gold standard in guest attentiveness.
Amazing drinks and service. The food is wonderful and the entire vibe is friendly and welcoming. Put this restaurant on your top 20 list in Phila.
I love this place, it’s one of my favorite, consistently great restaurants when I’m in Philadelphia.
Family got together for Jewish New Year and a great meal
If by new American style you mean French.......then.....nailed it. Good little spot. Great ambiance. Seared Foie Gras was amazing. Drink and wine list are small but spot on. Entrees were above average, but just missed the mark. For example...Pork belly was seared too much, but had good flavor. Desert was mehhhhh.
loved our experience at Fond! Adam was really knowledgeable about flavor notes and pairings. The food was out of this world! If you want to carry from joy get the lump crab vermicelli, and the seared foie.
Truly wonderful food. Loved the duck hearts and corn rissotto. All the staff was very welcoming and knowlegable. Can not wait to return
The server was friendly and attentive. We loved the five course tasting menu which included hamachi, liver mousse, grilled scallop, pork belly with congee and two small desserts. The portion size was generous and every dish was carefully made. It was quiet but also not very crowded.
Great food & service. Thoroughly enjoyable. We'll definitely go back.
Great food. Exceptional service.
We loved Fond. The food was wonderful. The chicken liver mousse was outstanding. Ask for Adam to wait on you.
Awesome...atmosphere, food and service all top notch. Highly recommended.
My companion and I had a fabulous experience at Fond. Our server was exceptionally knowledgeable, and he was attentive without ever becoming either intrusive or obsequious. We had a great wine selection, fabulous oysters and excellent pate' to begin our meal, followed by exceptional entrees, Wahoo and prime rib of beef. Neither inexpensive, nor outrageous, it was perhaps my best dining experience in a year as a resident of Philadelphia.
Service was outstanding, but the meat dishes on the menu - the original one we were served and the substitute one brought to us after we complained - were basically inedible. Too bad, because the rest of the food on the tasting menu was quite good.
The service was impeccable and the meal divine! We were heading to a concert after dinner but wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy this beautiful restaurant.
Unique menu items that were delicious!
The food was amazing. It was rich and interesting and everything I wanted out of a meal. I am so glad that I went.
