Vibrant flavors and warm service are the cornerstones of Fond, a new American-style restaurant from Chef-owners Lee Styer and Jessie Prawlucki, a husband-and-wife team. Located along Philadelphia’s popular East Passyunk Avenue, Fond is at once a sophisticated and comfortable neighborhood spot, appropriate for a variety of occasions, from a casual night out, to drinks at the bar, or a celebratory dinner.

Fond’s interior features natural tones and elements, including a 12-seat live-edge wood bar, where guests may enjoy a selection of beers, well-crafted cocktails and a thoughtfully curated wine list. The 36-seat dining room with its bright display of greenery throughout and oversized windows overlooking the neighborhood’s ‘Singing Fountain’ enhance the restaurant’s comfortable, welcoming ambiance. During warmer months, ample sidewalk seating is available for guests to enjoy food and drink al fresco.

My husband and I first went to Fond after getting married at City Hall in January 2013, and we've been back for our anniversary every year since. It is the perfect romantic & special little neighborhood spot with the most divine food, sweetest atmosphere, prettiest & coziest dining room with lots of window seats, and the nicest staff. We tried the tasting menus with wine pairing this year, every bite and every sip was amazing. I always recommend Fond highly when asked where to go for a nice dinner.

When you reserve for a group of six you are lucky if you are seated in the rear room in the kitchen area. Although it is a little hectic, the noise level is lower and conversation is made easier. You also have the feel of a private room.

The food was excellent although some diners wish the waiter had indicated that the shrimp dish was very spivey. The chicken dish was outstanding.

Service was very friendly and professional. Please note that if you bring your own wine there is a $15 per bottle corkage fee (except for Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Please also note that valet parking is available for all of the restaurants in the immediate area on the triangle in front of the restaurant. Just follow the signs.

Nice place but for the money spent, the food was nothing out of the ordinary for Philadelphia. All the plates were small. (The shrimp entree, which costs $30, was 4 shrimp.) Oh, and do not try to take a vegetarian there. There was not one meatless item on the menu.

just an all around wonderful restaurant. the food is simple but perfectly prepared and has just that little twist that makes it special. the service couldn't be nicer, attentive but not intrusive.
I have loved this restaurant from its early beginnings and it has remained in my top 5 list even with all the new additions to the restaurant scene each year.

When you finally realize that the restaurant in your neighborhood is one of the best around, you just don't want to leave. Knowledgable servers, nice chef's table, imaginative cuisine. Fond has it all.

Pond was recommended by a friend and business associate. I originally made a reservation for 2 before another couple asked to join us and the restaurant was able to accommodate our request on short notice. Pond is a small restaurant along Passyunk Avenue. While seating is a bit tight, it was not uncomfortable and the noise level did not prevent us from conversing at our table. Service was top-notch, but not overbearing. There were only a couple of additions to the menu shown online, which is somewhat limited. An amuse bouche (small glass of mushroom soup) warmed up our palates before we dove into four appetizers that we shared around the table (oysters, wild boar pate, lobster risotto and pork rillettes), all of which were small, but very well done. I was dying to try the skate wing for my main course and it did not disappoint, nor did the cod and swordfish ordered by my wife and friends. Portion sizes were perfect. Three desserts were shared, all of which were excellent. We are all looking forward to a return visit to Pond in the near future, although we hope to see seasonal menu changes to keep things interesting. Food and service definitely a 9+ on a scale of 10 with ambiance a solid 8.

I love Fond, I have revisited multiple times. The Foie Gras appetizer is a favorite and I love to pair it with a beef entree. With their fresh ingredients menu options vary.

Order the 5 course with the wine flight. Its fantastic. Just beware the chef is very heavy handed with the salt!

The night before we left Philadelphia we were looking for something special, and we definitely found it at Fond. I came for the skate wing, but the spaetzle and turnip accompaniments were amazing. My husband also raved about his chicken with German potato salad. The cocktails were generous pours, and chicken liver mousse and endive salad starters were tasty large portions. Service was unhurried and pleasant. Except for the rain, it was a perfect evening!

It's rare that you find a restaurant were the food is outstanding and the portions aren't miniscule. Also, everyone working in the place seemed genuinely happy.

We really enjoyed the tasting menu and selecting items off of the standard menu... foie gras and skate wing were the highlights, and the dessert a bonafide treat
