Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Washington DC Ratings and Reviews
Fogo de Chao is where you go when you want limitless quantities of high-quality meat. The atmosphere is like an upscale dining hall, but if you can get past that, the food is quite good. There's the entirely gluten-free "market table" (salad bar) and then there are the green and red, "more meat"/"stop with the meat please" tokens. You can order other items, but we didn't. There is also a Scotch cart we didn't hail.
The best meat choices were the sirloin, lemon steak, and cheese-crusted pork. The filet was kind of dry, but it's so easy to move on to something else, I could forgive it.
I had only two complaints: 1. I noted in my reservation it was my son's birthday. The table next to ours got a festive birthday dessert, but none for us (it was ok, though, we were stuffed). 2. After my first serving of lemon steak, I couldn't find it again, and they acted as if I were crazy. Maybe I misheard?
FdC isn't my idea of fine dining, but my son loves it and we had a wonderful evening.
What happened to this place? Seems Fogo used to be a more upscale restaurant. Half the guests were dressed like they were at Applebee's. When we got there we walked past two guys in the waiting area that I assumed by their attire and smell were Fogo dishwashers who just got off their shift. They reeked of weed (whole waiting area smelled like skunk). They ended up dining a couple tables away from us. The food was mediocre - some of the beef cuts were tender and delicious but much of the meat was tough and bland.
Yum, we 1st came here 8 years ago with the family. Of course this time around it cost a whole lot more because the kids were now that much older and were also of drinking age!
Never the less it was worth it. With a son in NJ us living in Virginia and our daughter who resides in Australia it certainly was a special occasion.
This was a great dining experience for us. We enjoyed the variety of meats (chicken, sausage, steak, lamb, pork chop) and the seasonings that were used on them. The salad bar is huge! The wait staff was busy, but came by often. The noise level was higher than I expected, but it was still easy to talk and interact with those at the dinner table. They even packed up dessert to go for us. I would recommend this place and go back again (even if it wasn't a special occasion).
Food was good, but they were very busy had us in the upstairs dining room... less attention from the wait staff... even for a party of 10! Took a long time to get the bill, then finally had to go give the bill with my cc to the manager so we could get out. Normally I really enjoy Fogo....
Fogo de Chao is certainly for folks with an appetite. The restaurant has an excellent salad bar. And the meats are very tasty and nicely prepared. Service is excellent - you will not go away hungry. My sole fault with the restaurant is that both the bar and the dining area were exceptionally noisy, to the point where we had to shout to speak to each other. Other than that, a fine restaurant.
We've eaten at this location many times. I was surprised at the lack of service on this occasion. It was a Friday night the restaurant was not crowded at all, and the servers did not bring us bread until halfway through our meal after pointing it out twice, and the same with the table sides. No one checked on us much throughout our meal. Was really surprised. We've been at both the DC and Baltimore location countless times and have had much better service.
A very nice restaurant with excellent service a little pricey for what you get but the food was excellent the drinks were very good a little too much ice in the mix drink. The food was good when you pay that price it's hard to eat your money's worth but never the last was a very enjoyable experience our entire group had a good meal good time and really good service the manager on that night was wonderful shared life stories and was very personal with our entire table definitely made our experience that much better. And we will definitely share this restaurant with our friends
