Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Very hard to speak to old friends because the 4 Waiters serving the different meats were always interupting our table of 4’s conversation. This became extremly annoying. I also didnt care for having to go to the Smorga Bob’s salad bar, I’d much rather be served my whole meal sitting at my table.
We requested drink refills many times and the drinks never arrived without asking over & over. It’s possibly the waiters did not understand English very well. Even a mgr. Forgot to get my coffee when i brought it to her attention that i was having problems getting a drink.
I eat out at nice restaurants often and IMO there are many better restarants all over Scottsdale. If your looking to enjor the company your sharing dinner with this place is not for you because a sentence is hard to finish between the meat guys.
We are regulars at Fogo de Chao’s Addison, TX (Dallas) location and have visited numerous other locations in the chain. Unfortunately, our visit to the Scottsdale location was atypical. In general, the salad bar, while fresh, lacked the variety and presentation of other locations. The meat items were initially presented more done than we prefer. The filet mignon skewer presented was burnt; but, they were serving it anyway. Fortunately, the next filet skewer was better. A couple of other meat skewers were very tough. Service was ok; but, not the level were used to at other locations.
I made the reservation for an office New Year party and baby shower for one of my staff. I asked to be placed in a quiet corner so we could have privacy and talk. The hostess wanted to sit us in front of the entrance. I explained my request and we were allow to sit in a back section.
The service was possibly the worse service I have ever had in a restaurant. No explanation of how to order, what to expect etc and with no menus. We had never been here before and no one really explained anything other than go get salad and servers will bring meat. We did not find out till everyone was done that there were sauces, sides and other meat options. I asked for lamb chops after no one came by with this option, then had to wait 20 minutes. No one even asked for a drink order. Mashed potatoes were served at beginning of meal and then replenished again when we were all done - freezing cold potatoes are gross. The cuts of meat are cheap, do not expect steak house quality. Expect buffet type meat - poor quality. Even the thinly shaved beef was tough and fatty. No wonder the meat is served so thin, a thick piece would be hard to chew.
We had 11 people in our party and all said this was a horrible restaurant and none of us would ever go back.
I had read all the reviews and was very excited about dining there. Our hostess was wonderful. The minute our water came over a hint of what was coming was quite evident. He was arrogant , not happy to be there and acted as our waiter he was gracing us with his appearance. A list of meats was presented only after repeated requests, our drinks were delayed at least 20 minutes, we had to ask for breads and sides multiple times, when my drink was getting low, I was asked if I wanted another and when I said no it was removed before I was finished while I was still drinking it. We were never asked by him if there were any questions or any meats we did not receive( ribs). The people that brought the meats we great and if not for them we would have left no tip. Our New Years Eve 7:30 dinner reservations were ruined by a waiter who thought we were there for him not him there to enhance our evening.
Overall the experience was very good. Service was great. Music a bit too loud throughout the dining room. The majority of the skewers were delicious but the chicken was very dry and so was the pork.
It was consistently that way when dining on New Year’s Eve.
We enjoyed our dining experience very much. We thought that maybe they would offer less expensive cuts of meat first, then the nicer cuts after we were full but that wasn't the case at all. We also thought we would have to wait between offerings but again we were mistaken. The Brazillian cheese bread was amazing as was the service. We will definitely be dining again for another special occasion.
The service was spot on and without a doubt the best service you could ask for. The food, from the salad bar to the meats were prepared and cooked to perfection. We ate for hours!!!! Because it was Christmas Day (thank you for seating on Christmas) the price was the same throughout the day and it was worth every penny. Each and every staff member were so pleasant and made our experience above our expectations. Management was touching every table and checked on us throughout our stay. We were traveling for Christmas and we want to thank you for making our "away from home" Christmas dinner spectacular!
My fiancée, son and I went here for dinner on Christmas Day. The food was good and the meat a little overdone, but well-seared and served hot. The servers were outstanding! but the atmosphere is lacking. The place was too brightly lit and the tables and chairs placed so close togather it reminded me of a big cafeteria. My adult son had been ill and only ate a fraction of what he normally would. He had quite a bit of food left on his plates, especially the meat, and could not finish. I knew it would get thrown in the garbage, so I explained his situation and requested if there was some way they could take it in the back and package it so he could enjoy it when he was feeling better. I realize that was probably against the rules, however, I was hoping for a little professional courtesy. At $53 each, the fact that his leftover food was going to be thrown out was upsetting. (He only ate a couple bites of meat and a small amount of the food on his “sides” plate~the least they could’ve done was offer to charge him the Market price, at $23 less.) Also, the price of a 6-oz. bottle of Coke was $3.50 and he had two before we thought to ask and were told no free refills on soft drinks. So the total for his meager meal without tax/tip was $60! Also, no one explained there was rice, mashed potatoes, bean soup, and other hot food on the back bar behind the salads/cold items. They did bring a dish of mashed potatoes to the table which I thought came from the kitchen, and we didn’t discover the hot sides until we were leaving. Should we return again, I would just do the Market Place area. It had a decent selection of cold gourmet foods and I especially loved the cheeses, however, I would have liked to try the hot food also. Although other good buffets at the same price ($30) would also include all of the entrees, meats and desserts. If anyone could even handle dessert after trying to eat all the food that is offered, it is not included in the full meal price.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, unfortunately not so anymore. Went for lunch on Christmas day and was very disappointed. The service was terrible. Waited too long for meat to come to our table, waited for our check for over 10 minutes. The salad bar was fabulous, however the meat was not. Most cuts that I ate were tough. Even the Filet Mignon was tough. I don’t mind spending $117 for a meal if it’s fabulous, this meal was far from it.
Very Very Disappointed.
We came for Christmas with 2 friends. It was great. I was able to see my 4 favourite staff, Marco, Carina, Chris, and Norma whom I have not seen for quite a while. Such a great opportunity to eat my favourite cuts of meat as well as catch up with the staff . Everyone had a fantastic meal. Thank you Fogo.
We dined here right before Christmas with our family. Make sure you are hungry. Meats were all very good. Even though we turned our signals over to Red from Green I'm guessing green means go and red means stop they kept bringing a selection so I felt like we got rushed through our meal. Then I saw why....as we watched an entire football team come in to dine. After that we did not see another wait staff and had to ask several times to get our check. Now that I think about it we probably could have walked out they were so overwhelmed with 90 football players Marching In . So it's basically a cold Buffet cold salmon cold shrimp cold vegetables. The only other warm thing they serve with the meat looked like instant mashed potatoes . We were not impressed with that. So a family of four paid over $300 for dinner . so I will say that it is a very pricey place and something you do once for the experience. Having to tip over $60 based on the price seemed overwhelming .
We were so disappointed- had not been a n a while and things have changed. First the restaurant is empty and they seat us in the farthest back table with my 90 year old mom needing to walk so far and then back for salad. The salad bar is now 1/2 it’s size with nothing like it use to have. The meat was fatty and tuff. Maybe one or 2 pieces were actually able to eat all of. Won’t go back - rather buy one good piece of meat at that price point They didn’t have 2 wines I picked.
This is one great place to have a Sunday Brunch. My husband loves their Market Table, and I come for their Lamb Chops. We always have very good service, thanks to Marco, Chris and Carina. They know what we like, and our drinks and Lamb Chops are on the table promptly. It is a joy to come here hungry and leave satiated and feeling cared for. Thank you guys.
We are regulars! This place has great food and service. Marco is amazing as he ensures each table is having an awesome experience. We will continue to celebrate special occasions here with friends and family . Good food and Good service are hard to find and we found it at Fogo De Chao Scottsdale.
I have been to many Brazilian steak houses and unfortunately this was the worst. Overly bright lights, rushed and confused service, compounded with sound so loud you couldn’t hear the person next to you.
Here were my observations
While salad bars are pretty common with Brazilian steak houses, this one was disappointing. Caesar salad was bad. I have seen grocery store salad bars that were better.
We started off with one waiter, then an expediter moved him to a different section and awkwardly tried to transition to another. He was abrasive and not concerned about the customer. We were happy with the original person and communicated as much, but still ended up with someone else. Not good. It felt like buying a set of tires and being switched to a different brand.
The noise level was incredibly loud and the entire place felt like dining in a cafeteria. Banging plates constantly.
Lighting was way too much. Too bright, too cafeteria.
We were constantly asked how is everything. Not once, not twice, but every interaction. It seemed like the manager was trying to keep his job, as this was multiple servers, multiple times
The price. Dear Lord...for the price you pay, you could go to Ruth’s Chris Steak House and get so much better. Way overpriced. Lamb was ok, filet was awful, chicken was dry , and the sausage simply wasn’t very good.
Damage for this experience was over 230 dollars for two people, not including tip. Seriously . For this amount of money, go a few doors down to Paul Martin’s for a nice meal, attentive service and a price far below this tourist trap.
