Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Had a great birthday experience celebrating a surprise for my wife, but the wait staff at this particular location barely attended to our table. They sat us at a new table when they discovered my party had joined a few members but barely came back to ask for drink requests, refill water nor ask if any special occasion was being celebrated. I had to inform them towards the end that it was a birthday we were celebrating, for which they suggested the delicious chocolate cake dessert. The food is always amazing here, but for the price, the service level is just not there. I will go back to Fogo de Chao, but probably not to this location.
High expectaions not met. Less than courteous bartender started birthday celebration, which the hostess noted but no mention by waiter to our honored guest. For the price tag, too many cheap sirloin offerings, only once was ribeye offered, which was not the case at Fogo in Minneapolis or San Diego. Salad bar could be better managed by bringing out fresh bowl of Caesar to replace almost empty, rather than take bowls to leave bare ice. (Restaurant management 101). Had to ask staff from next section to bus our table, as ours basically disappeared. Our out of town guests were gracious but this location didn’t live up to our hype for this special occasion.
I would love to think that our visit to Fogo de Chao was just an off night for the restaurant. The evening started out OK, we ordered drinks in the bar and then were seated promptly. We do give a thumbs up for the specialty cocktails. Our waiter, Phil, introduced himself & explained the process. We served ourselves at the market bar (there were many items - charcuterie, smoked salmon, salads, cheese), it was fine, nothing to shout about. Then, we turned our medallions over to green, showing that we were ready for the meat. After twenty minutes, our question was - "Where's the meat?" We saw no gauchos anywhere. Finally, the gauchos began dribbling out of the kitchen. In several cases the meat was sadly overcooked, and we wanted RARE! There was also a definite odd after taste with the meat selections, this includes the sirloin, filet mignon and the lamb. The one meat item that was a hit was the little sausages. Unfortunately, they only came around one time. The pork was incredibly dry, as were the ribs. Phil, our waiter, pretty much disappeared for the evening. It was an expensive and underwhelming experience.
We've been here before and had a great experience, this day was so-so. The service for drinks was very spotty and we went without refills for 20+ minutes at one time. Sides items were slow and we had two servings of bread and bananas before any mashed potatoes were available. We had hoped to get regular filet or bacon wrapped filet come by our table once but it didn't, even after the manager asked if there was anything we would like and mentioned it. Not the worst visit, but not the best. Maybe a better location to visit during non-peak hours.
Came for usual Sunday Brunch and to celebrate our 29th Anniversary. Chris, Carina, and Marco made us feel so welcome. The food was great as usual, wish we could have eaten more! We were offered a free dessert to share plus coffee. Way to go, Chris, Carina and Marco, you really made us feel special. Thank you, Fogo.
Excellent... service, food, flavor, and atmosphere was as expected. At a high level! The overall flavor of the meats are unique to the Brazilian culture. Be sure to ask your server(s) to recommend the unique meat sauces. Even the meat without the sauces are excellent alone.
Highly recommend Fogo de Chao. Will definitely return.
We went to this restaurant for a birthday celebration. I honestly cannot imagine ever returning. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, in what looked like a banquet area. There was no decor, no ambience, no charm, not even a plant. We were seated and within seconds were greeted by a very nice server. He explained the routine and we were immediately whisked to the salad bar. There was absolutely nothing fresh on it, everything was mixed with mayo or oil. The Caesar salad had bottled dressing on it. There was plenty of meat brought to the tables. It was good but not what we expected for the price. The server came to the table when we were done to ask whose birthday it was. He told us to choose a desert from the menu for the birthday person. We did and they charged us $10. It just wasn’t what we expected, especially for the $400 not including tip for the 4 of us
We went on business. Check reviews online and was not disappointed. Everything was great once the meat starting going around. I guess there must’ve been a rush just prior to our arrival, but once they resumed the flow, you are not lacking for meat purveyors. The house specialties were great. The waiter and I disagreed on the Parmesan pork. I guess not all things taste great with cheese. Other than that one-off, all the meat was great and they were accommodating to those in our party who preferred their meat medium well or well. A great place for a a nice meal when you’re in the area.
This was the first time I've eaten here. The food is really good and the service is awesome. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and the meat servers were very quick and efficient. If you leave hungry you clearly did something wrong as my plate was never empty. It is expensive but worth the price of admission. It is a bit noisy but if you are a people watcher you'll be right at home. I gladly recommend this place to anyone who wants something a bit different or is celebrating any occasion where crowds are not a problem.
The food was great and the waiters were prompt and friendly. It was both of our first times and I enjoyed it for the most part. My only complaint was that I took my partner there for his 51st birthday and when confirming the reservation the woman stated they would bring him a special dessert. They unfortunately did not do anything, bring him a dessert or say Happy Birthday to him so I was pretty disappointed. Although he didn't know about it so he wasn't expecting anything. I wanted to treat him to a nice special evening and I was sadly let down. We both enjoyed the food though.
We have dined at Fogo Scottsdale a few times and this time exceeded our expectation. The service was tremendous (thanks to James) and the others. The salad bar was terrific and it’s hard not to over indulge. The Brazilian style meat was excellent and the addition of aged ribeye meat off the bone was great. The last time we came to Fogo we said we wouldn’t go back because of the poor service and lack of attention to our green medallion but the discount coupon drew us back; we are glad we gave it another chance. I had the filet and it was melt in your mouth good, the aged beef off the bone was really a great addition, and the beef rib tasted a bit fatty but really delicious. The parmesan crusted pork was also surprisingly good; I had seconds. We like coming to Fogo Scottsdale once in awhile to get our fix of carnage and this trip definitely gets high marks. Tip - save the fried plantains for the end of the meal and if you have room, make them your dessert. You will be glad you did.
Meat, meat, and more meat! Lots and lots of it! My husband loves this place because he can eat as much as he wants. I love the experience of eating here! We always feel so "attended to" from water glasses to side dishes to the skewers of meat that travel around the restaurant.
The Market Table was underwhelming. The website describes a much different experience. We sat with our markers on green waiting for someone to stop several times. We were sitting next to a large party who seemed to be getting most of the attention. There were several cuts of meat we didn't even get to try. We would see them come out of the kitchen but again we were passed by several times. We spent $300 and left unsatisfied. The service other than us missing out on meat options was good. Everyone was friendly and the restaurant was clean.
