Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
IF ONLY I COULD HAVE BEAUTIFUL MEN SERVING ME SKEWERS OF MEAT EVERY DAY.
I've heard of Fogo de Chao for ages, but never had the opportunity to go. In fact, I've dated two separate men who always promised to take me, but never did --- so when Center City Restaurant Week rolled around, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I called up all my girlfriends, made reservations, and starved myself in preparation for this glorious experience.
That's exactly what Fogo de Chao delivered - a dining EXPERIENCE; the food equivalent of Disney world but instead of costumed characters, it's glowing men and women, and their respective large sticks of various delicious meat. Restaurant Week is the way to go! For $35, we got endless access to the market bar and the charcuterie board of my dreams - fresh chunks of sliced cheeses, mozzarella balls, and prosciutto.
This is followed, of course, by all you care to eat meat. Simply flip the magical coaster to green for "go" and within seconds you'll have folks buzzing about ready to slice you a fresh cut of their respective meats. Everything I tried was tender, beautifully seasoned, and cooked to absolute perfection. The sirloin was my favorite.
in the $35 restaurant week package is your choice of dessert: Key Lime Pie, Cheesecake, or Chocolate Mousse Cake. My friend and I split the Cheesecake and Chocolate Mousse Cake. Both were good, but just average in comparison to everything else we ate that night.
Service was fantastic given the fact it was restaurant week and packed with folks. You really don't even notice the skewered men strolling about, I swear they just magically fall from the heavens. The place wasn't overly dressy, but it's definitely on the more upscale side. I came in black jeans and decent top, but I definitely saw lots of folks in denim.
I'd suggest making a reservation and eating light on the day you plan to come because you'll want to make room for the endless food thrown your way. You've been warned.
Where do i begin? I booked this restaurant during "restaurant week". On the day of my reservation i called and was rudely greeted and put on hold by Jessica. When she returned to the phone call Iasked that 1 more seat be added and Jessica said that was fine. She also informed that fogo de chao did bot participate in restaurant week and that the website had made a mistake. I told her that i was unaware of this however, my family and i would still like to keep our reservation. Due to traffic, and lack of parking availability i was approximately 15 minutes late. I called and informed the JESSICA that i was running a little late and she explained that the dining room closes at 2:30 exact and that i no longer had a reservation. Disappointed, my family and i began the 7 block walk back to our car. I called my sister and informed her that our table was no longer available and the dining room would re open at 5:30. Surprisingly, my sister infored me that she was in the restaurant and currently being seated. Well, now my family and I have to walk all the way back AGAIN, (in 16 degree weather). When we entered the restaurant we were immediately seated and we began to enjoy our meal. The waitress Crystal was pleasantly accomidating and exceptionally nice! However, when she went on break, her fill in, (not sure of her name) was a little rude. It seemed as if she constantly rushed us and insisted on clearing the table.... frequently. So frequent that plates we were still eating off of were taken on more than occasion. My soda which was NOT empty was cleared from the table! (Soda is an additional cost) When she came around about the 5th time we were finishing up for the evening, and i happen to notice a gnat crawling on my food. I informed her and her response was "well you had it long enough "! (Excuse me!!!) My thoughts are well the salad bar has been open all day, so are gnats over there as well! My experience was NOT enjoyable and I will not returning EVER!
I went to Fogo de Chao for restaurant week and it was very crowded when we walked in Sunday evening for our reservation at 7pm. We were 10 minutes early and were given a buzzer to wait for a table to open (isn't that the point of a reservation?) Anyways, it was very busy and super crowded, but we were seated by 7pm. But making it all worth the $35, the food and the amount of food given to you! Some restaurants are not worth the restaurant week prices, but Fogo de Chao is definitely worth it!!!
So despite it being busy and the wait staff very nice it literally took us 30 mins to get our check because they someone messed it up and had several drinks we didn’t order. Plus on top of that they had to go back after another 15 mins of waiting to get my credit card back.
Again food and staff very courteous, checkout was a nightmare. I assumed they wanted us in and out since there was a wait but clearly their checkout process was something else
We love Fogo de Chao. This was, as always, a wonderful experience, with superb grilled meats and sides. Our ONLY beef was that the martini's were room temperature and the red wine too warm. But, the service was exceptional. Our server, Katiuska, was superb!!
I was thinking about having a family night out, where the environment and food would be perfect. I ran down a list in my mind of all places that fit the bill, and that place was FDC. After an excellent experience, FDC will be our go-to place for a great night out.
We used to love Fogo. It was one of our favorite places and we would eat there several times a year. However I’ve noticed that it has started to go down hill. The first thing I noticed was the smell of dirty dish rags when I sat at the table. The salad bar isn’t as fresh and exciting as it used to be. The biscuits (which used to be reason enough to go) were hard and dry. The meat servers used to be pleasant and attentive. They used to learn what temperature you preferred your meat and adjust accordingly when they came back around. As well as serve so much you had to flip your card to stop several times to catch up. They seemed bothered that we wanted our meat medium well (we were with our children and they don’t like their meat raw) and didn’t come back around to our table until our waiter harassed them several times. Two pieces of my meat had hair on it. My husband had to go back to the salad bar to get more food because the meat service was so poor. Our reservation was for 5 pm, well before the restaurant was crowded. Our waiter was however very good. He tried to get meat served to our table and was very attentive. I was sad to see the decline in one of our most favorite spots.
This place is fantastic! Food was delicious, service was excellent! It was my boyfriend birthday and one of the manager went out of her way and brought us a delicious piece of cake with a candle! It was perfect! I would definitely recommend because we will be coming back!
The food was really good but we went for New Years Eve and were disappointed that they didn't do anything special to ring in the new year. The server didn't offer us Champagne, which we totally would have bought a bottle, and in fact didn't even check in to make sure we had a fresh round of drinks before midnight to do a toast. I would go back for dinner, but definitely would not recommend for New Years Eve.
I have dined at this location a few times and have had great service until this night. I had made reservations for 10pm for a special date night. Upon arrival I was told I needed to wait until they had a table available and she could not provide me with an estimate time. I ask the hostess upfront if that was the procedure when you make reservations, to which she replied, what do you want me to do? I can’t do anything about it. Then ask me if I wanted to speak to a manager. I replied, I was asking if this was the normal procedure when someone makes reservations Her attitude was not very welcoming. I was well aware that this would be a busy night (NYE) but the hostess attitude was not welcoming. I then watched her give 2 other customers the same attitude. I am very shock at my experience this evening.
