Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
To start with I have been to Fogo de Chao in many cities through out the US and have always had a terrific experience. Of the large churrascaria chains I have usually found them to be the most reliable and highest quality. The experience at Las Vegas was not up to those standards by a long shot. The first thing I noticed was the rather skimpy offerings at the salad/antipasto bar. Unless they have scaled back both the quantity and quality of the menu of this portion of the experience chain wide, this was not the usual I've come to expect, strike 1. Secondly, the sides of cheesey rolls, polenta, bananas(plantains) and mashed potatoes, were brought to the table immediately, while we were at the salad bar, and proceeded to get cold. The rolls were over baked, the polenta was fine, the bananas were a slushy mess, and the potatoes had the consistency of dried boxed potato flakes and not much more flavor, strike 2. Finally the meats, were only of fair quality this night, often charred on the outside and yet rare in the middle, the usual flavorful rubs were replaced by being over-salted. The house specialty picanha, was only brought after being requested and again no real flavor other than salt. The gauchos were very rushed due to the busy restaurant and were serving much larger portions of the individual cuts than normal. Some might like that aspect but I found it a bit too much. Even my favorite, lombo (parmesan crusted pork) was strangely dripping in cheese sauce rather than then usual crusting of parmesan. So, the reson you come to Fogo in the first place, the meats were, well...Strike 3! I have enjoyed Fogo other places and will return, but until they get the Vegas one fixed, my recommendation is look elsewhere.
The food was tasty and good and I left satisfied. This was a busy night, so the "salad bar" area was lacking many food items. The meat selections came in waves instead of a constant flow. Some selections only came by once. Our server did a great job as I realize some things are out of his control. We celebrated my Mother's 78th birthday and she really enjoyed herself. It was ok for handicapped/wheelchair access, although too busy for access to the salad bar area. $45 corkage fee - damn really? It was a good meal, but I could not get over the feeling I was in a cattle car the entire evening and will look to other locations for a 10+ person celebration.
Great customer service, however, since I’m a bit forced to compare it with another popular Brazilian chain...the food isn’t as good, especially for the price. So the major upside is that there isn’t a long wait if you didn’t make reservations and the food is ok. Most of the steak were dry or we had to cut out a lot of fat. The only one I actually liked was the garlic sirloin. The service is outstanding. But for the price, I would rather go to a full, high end buffet or that other we won’t name Brazilian chain.
We went on Thanksgiving for the first time. We have tried other Churrascaria restaurants in the area and we enjoy that style of eating. All of the meats were excellent, however we had several servers pass us by even though our markers were turned to green. We had to flag down the leg of lamb. The cost for dinner was comparable to similar restaurants, but the cocktails were horribly over priced. I had a glass of wine, one that I buy by the bottle often, and it cost the same as the bottle costs me at the store. I know there is an upcharge, but that was the most I have ever seen. Another server brought around a pineapple rum drink, served in a small Sherry style glass, no more than 2 ounces. They were $12.50 each! So, go there and eat the meat and enjoy the Saks 2 bar, drink water.
The presentation and service are great. For $55 per person, we were very disappointed in the quality of the meats and choices. They offered grilled chicken legs, pork sausage, tough beef and lamb. When their steak knife is barely adequate to cut the beef & lamb, something is wrong.
Service rushed us like thete was a line out the door. Not! Service let you think that some handouts were free. Not! Never knew who our WAITER was until the bill arrived. 1 out of 4 thought the meal was excellent until the bill arrived. Not planning to visit this tourist trap again.
The best of the Fogos in Las Vegas. I take my friends to this restaurant and the service is great, food is amazing and the ambiance is friendly. Located right off the strip, it's a great place to go if you like meat and want to fill up on protein. They have a great salad bar, but you don't go there for the salad.
