Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
Average experience. Not really worth the extra money and drive from Overland Park. There was food (large chunks) on the floor in front of our table, we were in the very back room in a corner and felt like meat service wasn’t very often (we only tried about 4 diff things). Food was good, but honestly not better than the location of another Brazilian place in OP. Probably won’t return. Nothing more special than our local Brazilian.
We were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away when we arrived, even though we had gotten our reservation time wrong and arrived almost an hour early. Food was excellent - although I would have liked the grilled vegetables more if they were not chilled. Service was great and the atmosphere was lively and cozy.
Waited over half hour before we got served any meat and then it was soo dry and bland, salad bar was so underwhelming. Then served one small plate of potatoes for a table of four that took a long time to come out as well! Went on rw which was probably the reason it was so backed up, but awful for what u pay for, I would recommend going to Em Chamas instead for better quality, ambiance, and service!
We didn't get seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time. When I tried to inquire about how much longer just to have an idea, the hostess was very rude said she couldn't tell me a time and just to wait. I kept trying to ask if it was going to be 5, 10, 15, 60 minutes wait just to know and she just kept giving me the same answer. It took me over five minutes of inquiring to finally learn that we were the next on the list, which is all I wanted to know. After that within five minutes, we were seated. She was very unfriendly and I am not a rude person as I have worked in the business and I know it can be chaotic at times and you get further with honey than vinegar! About a year ago, I went to the restaurant to buy 2 $100.00 gift cards and had to deal with the same hostess and she was just as rude. She certainly shouldn't be the face of the restaurant if she does not like to answer questions. The dining experience was simply awful. We were at our table from around 8:30 to 11:00 pm and we only had four gauchos approached us with meats the entire duration. Even though everyone in our table kept the tokens facing on the green side the entire time, so basically we paid to sample four different types of meat when the server told us we would have 12 different cuts of meats. The meats that we did get to try, were either way too salty or lacked flavor. All we got to try was top sirloin which was very salty, chicken breast which was hard and dry and I couldn't even chew, lamb meat which was ok and some mini chicken drumsticks which lacked flavor. The drinks were nothing special either. I understand it was restaurant week and it was busy but that doesn't mean we should be robbed of the amount of food and service we get. I was quite embarrassed to have suggested this restaurant to my group of friends. I certainly will not be going back.
Food and service were good. Salad bar was not as good as it has been in previous visits. Not sure if the restaurant skimped out because it was during Restaurant Week? Just wasn't as good as we all remembered. Meat selections were tasty and plentiful. Very attentive Gauchos. Wait staff was attentive but seemed stretched a little thin for the crowded restaurant.
Service was horrible for entire time. They did not honor our reservation time. They actually say people who did not have a reservation before they set my party. Once we did get seated, our server only checked on us once. The meat selections didn’t not come to our table often, even after requesting certain meats. Waitress dropped a plate on the customer behind us head so that was distracting for 30 minutes. The way the management handled the accident was less than acceptable. I overheard the conversations and was not pleased with how the handled the injured customer. I have been a long term customer for May years and have eaten there at least once a month. I will not be going back!!!!
I made a reservation and the time given was for 10:30pm 1/19/18. Showed up on time and the first gentleman greeted my party and I which was 4 people total so it wasn't a huge party; with "we're closed for the night". We then told him we had a reservation and he proceeds to say he will get his manager. The manager shows up and says the same thing even after we show him the reservation confirmation. The manager then says we are more than welcomed to eat there still but that the meat selection will not be complete, since they have ran out of some meats because they couldn't get a hold of the distributor to order more meat. This is during restaurant week which is not a new thing. He follows it up saying the salad bar is fully stocked. We were not there for salad, we wanted to have meat. The manager did not offer any vouchers or offer to reschedule our party a different day during restaurant week. All that was said was "sorry". It seemed like he and the staff just wanted to go home. I understand that it's restaurant week and it's very busy but why would you not order more than enough food and why would you allow reservations to be made at 10:30pm and not be willing to honor it. Extremely disappointed by how the situation was handled.
Because it was restaurant week, the meat choices were limited. The cuts served were tough. The potato dish was warm, not hot upon arrival to the table. The dessert was good, cheesecake.
It was our first time there and we were really excited but the service experience left us thinking we would not return.
Everyone was amazing except forvthe hostess. She was rude and hateful. I understand it was resturant week, and we were early for our reservations at 9pm. When we checked in she had informed us that it shouldn't be quite the time of our reservation that we get a table. It was 15 minutes after our 9pm reservation time that our table was called. We only had 5 including a high chair. This hostess sat walk-ins before us several times. I hsve worked in the food business and your reservations should come first. Our waitress was amazing, busers, managers everyone. But she made our first time there to where we will not be going back. I absolutely hate it that we will not be back. I wish something would be corrected aboit this situation. If she wouldn't have lied to us about being seated it wouldn't have turned into a big deal. Her attitude needs to be put in check.
Went for a birthday party. We made a reservation for seven people we waited 20 minutes after our reservation time, then when we asked about our table they said it wasn’t going to be ready now because we had brought seven people and we only had a made a reservation for ʹ which was not true. We showed them a reservation for seven people and they still didn’t seat us.
Went during restaurant week and it was very busy for a Wednesday night. Tables are close together but your meal starts with a beautiful buffet salad bar so you have to figure out how to weave thru and back. They bring your side dishes to the table and then meat just keeps being brought astound the restaurant on spits with them carving of what you want. Our sides were cold and they appeared to be a little short staffed because things they said they would bring didn't show up, water wasn't refilled, etc. That said, the food was delicious and it's a fun change. We know we got a deal for restaurant week but will only come back for a special occasion.
We had a reservation for 8:30 on Tuesday, we decided to leave at 9:15 after our reservation was not honored. I would love to write a review about Fogo but unfortunately can only comment on the absolutely horrible service we received from the staff, from raising their voice towards us when asking a question at our initial check in at 8:20 to completely ignoring us 30 minutes in. It was obviously quite busy, but still that is no reason to treat your would be guests like trash. In closing, we have never been treated so poorly, never been in before and do not plan to come in the future.
Great experience. Out server Lorenna was so good, she was on top of everything. If she ever saw us reach for a bottle of wine, she was there to pour it. The food was excellent and well timed, we were able to have all of the meats at any given moment and the salad bar was amazing!
I went for restaurant week and was sadly disappointed. Some items were good, but there were inconsistencies. My chicken drumstick was really dry, meanwhile, my friend received one off a different skewer and said hers was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed my bottom sirloin, but my other friend thought hers was dry. I found the leg of lamb very bland and unexciting. Much of the food was good, but the were items that I didn't enjoy. We also never saw the ribs that were advertised for restaurant week come around to our table. The service was pretty slow and they failed to mention that soft drinks were $3.75, and they charged that much for each refill. I probably will not go back again. I've been to other Brazilian steakhouses that were much better in pricing, service, and quality.
The food was ok, but for the price I expected something more. The service was comparable to a fast food restaurant, or worse. I won't be back. Waited 25 minutes for dessert after ordering it twice with 2 different waiters. Value was horrible. Definitely not worth the cost, even the reduced restaurant week price.
I've been wanting to come for the longest time.....but I have a hard time justifying $50 or more per person for one meal. I came for the Restaurant Week special. Now I'm hooked....it was everything I had hoped and more. Great service. Everyone so polite and attentive. The salad bar is spectacular. But the meat served is the crown jewel. Mouthwatering. Perfect. My mouth is watering right nowthinking and writing about it. Cannot wait to return. Probably my all timenumber one favorite place to eat.
When we booked the reservation for lunch n it indicated $15/person for lunch and when we got there, they had the sign at the door saying that it based on the dinner prices only. My favorite was only chicken wrapped in bacon and ribeyes. The rest of the meat were really chewy couldn't cut it with the knife. The salad bar was disappointed too. My water glass had a lipstick print on and when i asked the server to switch the glass for me, he wasn't happy and didn't even apologize for it. And we still ended up leave 20% tip. And that was the first time trying out Fogo for my husband and I and i don't think we will come back again. Overall, ours "lunch" with the "dinner" price not worth it.
Although it was restaraunt week, I expected way more from this place than I received. We were sat 40 minutes after our reservation. Once we were seated, we were put in a corner right next to huge windows. Both of us had to wear our coats the whole dining experience and with it being so crowded our ability to switch tables wasn’t there. The salad bar was good, but all we really got to eat. Our sides were brought out 30 minutes before we received meat making them ice cold considering our table situation. We were offered carved meat twice in the hour and a half we managed to stay as were most people in our section. When we finally found someone to get our check, they sloppily boxed our desserts and sent us on our way. I’m disappointed in the whole experience and hope they choose quality over quantity in regards this event next year.
Had a reservation at 8:30pm, but weren't seated until 9pm. Our table was skipped many times with the meat options. We weren't served regularly until several tables in our section complained. The meat was cold. We asked for our dessert to go, but they brought it to us on plates. Waited another 15 mins to get it to go. We asked for our check when we ordered our dessert, but ending up waiting 30 minutes before we were able to pay and leave.
Great food, great service! People, restaurant week is a fundraiser for community gardens, calm down! Enjoy your extremely discounted meal and chill out!!! You're not food critics and of course you're not getting the tip top service that you normally would for the $100+ you'd normally pay! Treat your servers well and remember this week is hell for them! Be kind!
We have dined here before and have had lovely experiences, but we came for Kansas City Restaurant Week ($33 a head) and it was like making reservations was completely unnecessary. I used this app to make 7:30 reservation for 4 a WEEK in advance and we waited well over 45 minutes for our table while others were sat immediately? The salad bar was much more limited than usual. I understand that this promo brings the crowds but either be prepared to don't participate. If this was our first time going here we would not be back.
KC Restaurant Week - it was slammed. Our primary waiter would have been one of those guys that is awesome on a normal night but his level of OCD was just fried. I could only imagine that the kitchen was just mass chaos. But he did his best to make it up and we were the group to completely understand. We are all regulars, so we knew this less than stellar visit was not the norm and we definitely weren’t going to hold it against them.
