Fog Harbor Fish House Ratings and Reviews
Decided to try Fog Harbor Fish after reading positive reviews, despite of my first instinct of avoiding it due to its touristy location. After eating there I wished I had gone with my first instinct! Ordered the cioppino, which was not good—looked like thick spaghetti sauce rather than a soup, and had mainly mussels, a couple clams, 1 small shrimp, and 1/2 of a scallop. My friend had fish and chips which were average. The best part of the meal was the fried scallop appetizer, which was delicious. Our waiter was not knowledgeable & did not know when we asked if the dungeness crab was local.
Living in SF for the past 15 years we as locals stay away from pier 39 and fisherman’s wharf like it’s contaminated with plague. It’s known for its junk stores and tourist rip off overpriced garbage food.
I now know that I have been missing out on one of the best seafood restaurants I have even eaten at.
This place has it all a fireplace lounge before you even walk in the place. Beautiful views of the bay and an accomdating and knowledgeable staff
Jessica was our server and her recommendations were on point. The shellfish tower was not only fresh and appetizing and mussel fries were out of this world amazing. Blue cheese garlic bread need I say more? And the garlic crab and swordfish steak were equally delish. Will be back soon!
The “whole crab” was AMAZING! At first I ordered “half crab” but the crab itself was tiny in comparison to the whole crab so I changed my order and it was larger and so delicious! The “garlic butter” was soooo over the top atom bomb strong! I would NOT suggest it if you plan on kissing or being intimate because it will cause your partner to pass out!!! lol! Also, I don’t think it was real butter. It was more like olive oil with garlic.
Our server made it perfect. He was so accomodating & friendly. He knew what he was doing & hopefully when we come back he is our server again. I feel bad i don’t remember his name. I think it was Jim? Not sure but thank you so much for making our visit a wonderful experience
It was my birtday and had dinner with my family. There was a happy birthday message on the tablecoth, and a set of crayons and a colouring book for my son. We were looked after with meticulous care, the food was divine, coctail was refreahing, view amazing.
While visiting San Francisco during our recent cruise 🚢My husband and I while walking Fisherman’s Wharf came across the Fog Harbor Fish Restaurant The environment Could be better tablecloths and water views However it took 10 minuets to get a glass of water that wasn’t clean and another 10 minutes to have our order taken My Fish and chips was enateable there was so much salt on it I actually had to take the fish apart to be able to eat and the frys were also covered in too much salt The food on the ship was better We won’t be back
We chose Fog Harbor Fish house as our final destination for our California Anniversary trip, and we were not disappointed! After a day of site seeing, we were able to "go as we were" and enjoy an incredible dinner. We had the Shellfish Platter for 2, and Blue Cheese bread; both were superb! I believe because we made reservations ahead of time, we were able to get seating with a view of the Bay. Highly recommend this place!
Delicious food, excellent service, and an outstanding bay view make for an enjoyable lunch at Fog Harbor Fish House. Prices are a bit high, but my family enjoyed the house & wedge salads, as well as crab cake appetizer, and chicken penne entree. One hour validated parking is also nice, as it saves diners $9.00. I will definitely return to this Pier 39 restaurant.
I had looked forward to this meal for many days. The crab legs entree was delicious, but.... The clam chowder starter was a very small cup of what tastes mostly like potato and leek soup. Barely a hint of fish or clam taste. The ice cream dessert was a scoop of ice cream put in a clear small plain drinking glass with a spoon stuck in it. No presentation, nothing. Understood then why the set menu of these 3 dishes was so reasonably priced, I was basically paying high price for crab legs and getting two plain low quality side dishes for free.
Food was great, as was the service. We were celebrating our wedding Anniversary and we have nothing aganist children, but there was a baby screaming and crying non stop for at least a half hour! This is not the place to bring fussy children especially when you have adults that are willing to pay a high price for a nice romantic meal.
With the many positive reviews, we had higher expectations. Our server treated us like we were on an assembly line, however, we did notice another server who was awesome with his tables. The food was just average - the crispy scallop appetizers were ok, but the crab cake appetizer was deep fried like what you would find at a diner. It doesn't say deep fried on the menu and I should have asked. The lazy cioppino was average, as was the cracked crab. Very much enjoyed the Lagunitas IPA. Wouldn't rush back - there are too many better options in SF.
The restaurant, food, and service were all spot on. The menu choices were great, and the atmosphere was too. I had the Swordfish and my Wife had the Pacific Sole, both of which were very good. We had a couple of annoyingly loud, vulgar people seated behind us, but that's not the restaurant's fault.
We were there for a special occasion - when I booked I noted that my fiancé and I were getting married the next day and my godparents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary! They placed a special flower arrangement on the table and our lovely server asked about our occasion(s) and congratulated us. They also sat us in a window seat with a great view of the seals, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, which was much appreciated. Also, my godmother has a shellfish allergy which the server and kitchen was very careful to accommodate. Finally, the food was very good - fresh fish, great oysters, giant Crab Louie salad, nice wine. Very good experience!
My guest and I had a nice lunch at the FH. Seated at the perfect table near the back on the windows facing the GG Bridge. Enjoyed the chowder but beware that it is very rich. Ate half of mine so I would still have room for rest of meal. Excellent sourdough bread. My guest had the Crab Louis. Huge plate of lettuce and other veggies. Nice amount of crabmeat. I got a half of dungeness crab. Some work to get the meat out but tasty. Their double IPA on draft excellent.
We had such an amazing dinner. I said it was our anniversary when we booked so they made sure we had a really nice table overlooking the bay and wrote Happy Anniversary on the table. Our waiter Curtis was very knowledgeable and attentive. Would definitely go back.
This was my first time here and have to say it's a standout. I will definitely come back. I'm glad I went and got a reservation as the wait time was quite long. If you have to wait at least there's a nice lounge with a fireplace or get some drinks inside at the bar.
