Flour+Water was phenomenal. I went for my birthday with a friend, and was totally blown away by the experience. The food is delicious, of course. The service was also outstanding. Having been in the food service industry in a past life, I was very impressed by the level of communication and care that the Flour+Water servers possessed. We had one minor mix-up where they gave us the wrong pasta. Before I could even say anything to one of the servers who was walking toward me, she paused and said, “I know, this is not your pasta. We are really sorry about that, but please enjoy it on us. Does anyone have any food allergies?” She already knew without me even having to say anything, literally within seconds! Such great service.

Overall a real treat, and am excited to dine here again!

The food and service was excellent!

The lighting was very dark, too dark for us (we were near the back and had to use our cell phones to read the menus). The music was too loud for intimate conversation.

Nice wine list.

Service was super rushed for no reason we were the last group probably seated and no one was waiting for a table. They kept coming to take our plates away before we were finished eating and food was served before we even got water wine or bread

We did 2 pasta tastings (1 vegetarian). The food was all very good. I'd have to say that the first pasta dish, beet chitarra with dungeness crab, romanesco & tarragon, was my favorite of the night, followed closely by the broccoli cappellacci dei briganti with baby kale &
broccoli relish (on the vegetarian menu).

Our wait staff was all so nice and attentive. I think we will be back at Flour + Water in the near future!

Flour and Water! What happened to you guys? Been dining with you since you first opened back in 2009, and have been my go to for pasta on a regular basis. This was my first New Year’s Eve dinner with you guys and was quite excited to take my date for her first time to F&W, and looking forward to this special night at one of my favorite restaurants and starting the New Year off with a bang!

First, I was a little disappointed with our table location being that I made reservations 30 days in advance and thought that 7:45 reservation would get me a good seat in the house. We were seated right in front of the expediting/server station and our table for two was pretty much attached to the table for two to the other side of us. This made for an unpleasant dining experience with servers and food constantly bustling back and forth on one side, and feeling like we were in the same dinner conversation with the couple next to us on the other side. I feel like I could be the wedding planner for the couple next to us as I know every detail of what and how they want their wedding to be in the upcoming year!(totes to them btw)

Second, the $125 tasting menu was overpriced for the quality and service I received that night. You would think for NYE F&W would come out with their best. The courses were good but lack the quality I usually get from my regular dinners there. Service was mediocre at best, waited a good 20-25 minutes between our first course and second course. Then we got our fourth course soon after we received our third and felt rushed to eat both before our final course arrived. Overall F&W, I was disappointed with the NYE experience that you put out for me. You are one of my favorite restaurants and I know you can do so much better than this. I can only hope my next experience with you will regain my confidence otherwise I will have to let you go...

A lovely evening and the pasta was on par with the house-made pastas you find at restaurants in Italy. The only negative: the restaurant is small and reservations seems to fill quickly, so it took us a couple of weeks to secure a reservation at a desirable time.

I continue to love the food (which is fantastic) but feel like the service has gone down in recent years. Our hostess was friendly but our waitress was extremely aloof and tried to convince us not to order specific dishes because it would be a long wait - in the end it turned out to be a normal wait time and we were happy to try and have conversation while we waited. Unfortunately the music was so loud we could hardly hear our friends across the table. The food is amazing but it's almost not worth it to spend the money for this type of service.
