Terrible service- our order was screwed up and only 3 of our 4 appetizers made it. Only 3 of our 4 pizzas were likewise brought. What came was brought piecemeal so that some at our table were eating while others looked on... Finally, my plate was whisked away before i was finished...
Extremely disappointed with our experience. It took over an hour from first to second of 5 courses to be brought. When it did come it was cold and bland. Courses were very similar in taste and presentation. I’ve gotten more attention at McDonald’s. Paid for my friends dinners because I chose the restaurant and was too embarrassed to let them pay that much for such a disappointing experience. Additionally, the music was blaring, which could have been overlooked if we were satisfied with the food and service. We will not be back.
We've been here many times but first time bringing my in laws. They weren't impressed because our prix fixed menu took 3 hours even with us coaxing the staff saying it's past 10pm on a Sunday. Our waiter forgot about us and it took 15-20 minutes between courses towards the middle. We saw several tables come and go before we even finished dinner. Also, the majority of the food we got was overly seasoned and we asked them to not add as much salt/cheese on top. It's sad to bring my in laws to one of my favorite go to spots and disappointing them.
Had a good time. One serious problem is it is so dark you need a flashlight to see the color and texture of your food. Really a problem since a big part of dining is also visual. I don't know if this may have been a temporary problem given we came right around the end of daylight savings, but was really a problem.
I was in town from Denver and had planned to dine here. My expectations were exceeded and I definately recommend the pasta tasting menu. The flavors were phenomenal, I loved the casual but extremely knowledgeable service. And amazing pairings with the tasting menu as well, I left wanting more!
The restaurant is a lot louder now - they blare music. I am 34 and love to go out, but it's too loud now - it's like they're trying to make it a club. Also the type of music was not suitable for parent age diners.

VERY DISAPPOINTING, given it is so hard to get reservations, Menu is confusing as everyone at the table needs to do tasting or no one gets to do it. SERVICE is the worst I have ever experienced. Waited 45 min before order was taken, another 30 minutes before food was served. their system of having no one waiter and it is a group effort creates chaos and confusion with wait staff. Not sure if I caught everything that was ordered due to the timing, frustration, lack of attentiveness. When it requested that food be brought since we waited almost 1 1/2 hrs, the waitress suggested it was my problem with timing, Go figure! Food was very good, not great! flavors were confusing much like the service. Yes, it is popular, and will continue to draw crowds as the hype supersedes the food. It is restaurant trying too hard not to have attitude and in its effort is being driven by attitude and not service. Fits perfectly into the NEW SF: attitude, crowds, hype, good enough food, trendy ambiance.
It was my first time here in probably 3 years and it was honestly a bit of a disappointment. The negatives: Service wasn't great - it felt like two people were serving us, they didn't take the initiative in bringing us our leftovers/flowers stored with them which resulted in us standing awkwardly at the front of the restaurant for a while. The pasta, which I assume was homemade, tasted like it had dried out before cooking.
That said, the occasion was an anniversary dinner and the ambiance was wonderful for that! Also, the pizza was delicious, and they were kind enough to give us a taste of their fancy butter :)
The service was astounding with everyone supporting and providing help, but the food itself was unimpressive. And the wine selection by the glass was average ; had to order 3 different ones to finally land a somewhat decent wine. I came in thinking this would be the best place in SF, but maybe I set my expectations too high. At least this is out of my checklist. It's sister restaurant is awesome though.
