About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
At Florio's Italian, We believe that the key to a great meal is using fresh ingredients, traditional southern Italian recipes, and a passion for cooking. Our journey began in 1987 in a small Italian restaurant on Sheffield & Armitage in Chicago, cooking recipes my sister and I learned growing up Italian from my mother who learned from her mother and my dad's mother one was from Bari and the other from Cosenza. Today, Florio's Italian continues to bring the flavors of these two regions of Italy to your plate.

We look forward to serving you soon!

The food was good and hot. We had a bottle of Riesling with the fried calamari, veal parmigiana, tiramisu, and della torta. The only thing we didn't really care for was the fried calamari - it was on the rubbery side with little breading. Also, the plate was mostly "tentacles", which is perhaps what most people prefer but we're not a fan. Our server Joshua M was outstanding! We would highly commend a visit!

Service started out great, but as the restaurant filled up, the staff became overwhelmed. We had to wait a very long time to get our check. That being said, I always give a new restaurant a break on service as they work out the kinks. However, the food should be very good from the first day, and our meals were uninspired and below average. The menu misrepresented my meal (Florios Special chicken) and missed the mark on flavor. Two of us shared a salad, and each had an entree (chicken for me, pasta with meatballs and sausage for my companion), no drinks, and the bill was $89.

We were excited to try this new Italian restaurant, and what better day than on Mother's Day. We made reservation since we knew it would be hard to get a table on Mother's Day. As we walked in we were greeted by the host. The vibe was nice and it was not too busy or crowded. Forgive the play by play, but sometimes that helps in decision making when wanting to try a restaurant. We were sat at our table. We were greeted by our server within about 3-4 minutes. He went over the specials and took our drink orders, which we only asked for water, as we hadn't taken a peek at the drink menu. From the moment we sat down (ordered water through the server as well), to when the servers assistant finally brought water, it was about 10 minutes. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer and the server let us know that it is a couple of pieces in the order and asked if we we were ok with one or wanted another order or something else, so we ordered two. The appetizer came out about 5 minutes after we ordered, and at that time we asked for a cocktail and a couple non-alcoholic drinks, of which the server let us know they were having issues with the soda gun, but he would ask the bar if they 're gun was working. Back to the appetizer, it was one slice of sourdough bread (crostini) cut in half. One half had tomato and a piece of mozzarella, and the other half had burrata and toasted pine nuts. The crostini was so hard to even cut in half, that when I bit it, it actually cut the inside of my cheek. The price though for one order of bruschetta is $18! $18 for one slice of bread with minimal amount of tomato, mozzarella, burrata and pine nuts, is a bit ridiculous. Dinner was served after like 30 min, and restaurant was not full. Overall, the food was bland and luke warm. Lastly, the server - He was friendly, but awkward and very forgetful, seemed overwhelmed with only 3 tables. When he delivered our dinner plates is when I had to ask about the drinks he was going to check with the bar.

Nice place! We ordered several different food options to include the orrechetti, lasagna, stuffed shells, linguini clams, chicken picatta, spada (grilled swordfish) and most were OK. Chicken was a bit overcooked and dry, stuffed shells were a let down but everything else was really tasty. The service here was ABSOLUTELY phenomenal so I did appreciate that. If you’re looking for a suggestion the lasagna and linguini clams were to die for!

Disappointing. Food was served cool, cold in the center. Sauce was bland and served cool, not hot. We only ate 25% of our meals. Server was great, very apologetic and eager to make things right. However, there was a lot to overcome. The dining room is beautiful, but the tables too close together.

Canned sauce at best, pasta tasted like from a Box. Need a cocktail menu, have to share a plate of oil and parmesan cheese with the table, gross. Warm food, wait staff cleared our table of everything, including waters while we waited for the bill. Tables are one on top of each other, no way to have conversations. Better value for better food, and better service at Da Bafones.

It was delicious. The server was great. We did have to wait almost an hour for our table with the reservation because people just sat after eating. They need to make it 90 minute time for tables. The live music was good just loud since we were right by him. I would go back

We finally have a restaurant in the area that serves good food, has good service, and you are able to have a good conversation. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. The noise level was excellent which many restaurants don’t have. I had the chicken piccata. The chicken was tender, the potatoes were delicious, and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. The portions of food and drink were generous. I definitely will be returning.
