We saw this restaurant listed in a "10 best of miami beach" article. It must have been outdated or the restaurant bribed the author. The hotel where the restaurant is housed is beautiful in all the ways one would expect of a nice Miami Beach hotel. We ordered the jambalaya for two persons ($55), and though the pan that was brought to our table was impressive looking, the carpet of rice was chewy (perhaps it's supposed to be), and the chicken and shrimp had very little flavor. The andouille sausage, fortunately, offered something in the way of (charred) taste. The profitability margins on that dish must be huge. The real downer was the bill. After we paid, it struck as that the total was way too high. I asked to view the bill again, thinking they must have forgotten to delete a side item that they'd forgotten to bring us (fortunately). No. It was the 18% gratuity (on a party of TWO? Seriously?), in addition to our $25 tip. I expressed shock, and the waiter said he forgot to tell us -- that he always makes it a point to point this out to guests. I had them remove our tip, of course. Slimy way to do business. Maybe it's on the menu, and we just missed it.

Great kitchen, terrible service. Our baby octopus with watermelon Brule was delicious, as was my jambalaya. The service was non-existent. I actually had to get up to find someone to give us water even hough the place was empty.

Enjoyed our meals at the FC. We stayed at the St. James so it was very convenient to go downstairs to the restuarant for lunch ,dinner and drinks. The meals were tasty but a bit on the small size. The staff was very friendly and service good.

Innovative food in great setting! Lunch in the patio was fantastic. Kids loved the desserts. Serbice was great too!

The service was very slow and uneven. Sometimes drinks had a garnish, sometimes not. We were hungry when we arrived and asked for some bread right away while we looked at the menu. The hostess promised right away, as did the waiter and manager. Fifteen minutes later, corn muffins arrived. Food was uneven. Salmon sliders were good, but a shrimp appetizer was glutinous and unappealing. The "hot" soup arrived barely warm. A very disappointing lunch experience.

Food was excellent but the timing was a disaster. Party of 4 and the entrees came out spaced 20 minutes apart. The sides appeared after the entrees were eaten. What saved this place was the excellent quality of the food and the sweet nature of our server, not to mention our easy going nature. They were very good about compensating us with a glass of free wine and not charging for the sides!

I had reservations at 9:45 on a Monday. We get to the restaurant only to find out we were the only people there. Having been traveling all day we decided to eat there even though we were the only people. We felt as the servers were annoyed that we decided to stay. The whole time we felt rushed. The food part: ordered an appetizer.....30 mins later the waiters comes up and says " oh btw we are out of octopus forgot to tell you but your food is almost out". So it took 30 mins to let us they were out of octopus . My dinner wasn't that good, fish was small and the rice was undercooked . Deffenitly not worth 4 stars....very disappointed .

went there this past saturday night with friends and pretty much everything was off. first, the restaurant was closed for a private event so they routed us to another dining area within the hotel. then the place was completely empty. despite the fact that it was empty, we stayed. and then our food took waaaay too long to come (how that happens in an empty restaurant is beyond me). and then the portions were tiny...and of course, expensive. the only reason we came to this restaurant were the good reviews. i feel like they failed me this time around. that baby octopus appetizer...really? two redeeming things - the empanadas and the drinks. but that's about it.

The menu was very innovative. My husband had char grilled octopus and I had a seafood sausage appetizer. Both were very good. On to more seafood! Had grilled cobia with corn and tomatillo sauce and poached grouper for our entrees. Fish was absolutely wonderful - fresh and cooked perfectly.

We went to the Florida Cookery for Mother's Day brunch. The food was decent, but nothing was amazing or fantastic. I can't complain, but there was no "WOW" factor either. Brunch included an omelet station, salmon, lamb, bacon, eggs, sausage, fries, pasta salad, baked chicken, veggies, Caesar salad, and a few other items. I thought it was strange that they chose to serve lamb at the carving station, as opposed to beef or pork. The desserts were not memorable at all. Brunch did include one complimentary mimosa or bellini, which was nice. The baked chicken looked underdone...very pink, so I was afraid to eat it. I've had much better brunches in the South Beach area but this wasn't bad for $49.00 pp (plus tax and 18% gratuity added).

Really, this was the best thing we ate. My friend and I ate here for out last night in Florida and it was a perfectly fine meal. We are both very food oriented and somewhat picky and were a little disappointed about some of our choices but overall the food is better than most we had in Miami beach. I agree with others that it costs a lot for the quality but I think that's about the location rather than the food itself. Our waiter was very attentive, the pool area is actually quite nice and we had a great time.

The adventure started off by trying to find the rest. When we called the rest, they said it was located on 15th street so we went up & down 15th street to find it, turns out they were on Collins. Once we went inside, someone asked us to go upstairs which we did. When we went up, there was no one. Finally went inside the kitchen. The waiter told us that lunch is served downstairs. So, we walked down. The waiter took our order on time and the food came out fairly quickly. After we were done eating, the waiter disappeared and the plates weren't taken off the table nor did anyone come to ask us if we needed any more drinks or dessert. No one came for the check either. After we asked for the check, it came about an hour later. Won't go back.

I really enjoyed Florida Cookery, outside patio seating is nice. I think for lunch or brunch would be nice as well. We did have dinner and i was really surprised and excited to try the different appetizers. We had the three different meat empanadas which included alligator, AMAZING! We also had the pork cheek with plantains...all very good. Service was also very good, Joel was attentive and enjoyed chatting with him.

The evening was dreadful. I requested a regular menu on New Year's Eve when I made the reservations and again when I confirmed, but was seated with the set menu. The menu was blasé and not very Florida with some black-eyed peas thrown on a plate and 1/2 bite of lobster claw on the surf and turf. (The filet was good.) The waiter had difficulty understanding what we wanted as well as explaining what the restaurant offered, so it was not until I returned to write this review that I understood that the $30.00 beverage package included all premium drinks and not just house wines. The restaurant was loud and the service inconsistent. One minute plates coming too fast, the next, water glasses not filled. We left early to go elsewhere.

Looking for a good place to dine (food is the most important criteria for us), and this was recommended by NYTimes but did not appear on any top ten lists for Miami. For a $200 dinner + wine for two, you can do much better than this in Miami (if not in Miami Beach).

The ingredients are good. But, the food is underwhelming. The grouper appetizer had ingredients that didn't appear to be going well together. The Ceviche was the most yummy of all dishes. The 2012 Wind Gap pinot was not preserved well (a bit sour). The main waiter was friendly and we had a great time talking to him, but didn't not know much about the food or wine. We were served also by multiple people (at least three) which was odd.

This is was by far some of the worst service I ever had in Miami (despite the manager apologizing!) .. We basically had to stop servers as they were walking by to order as no one ever came to our table. When we finally ordered drinks, my friends ordered strawberry mojitos and 20 minutes later (after asking about our drinks) the manager finally delivered the raspberry mojitos our waiter ordered. We had to wait for everything despite the place only being moderately filled. It felt like no one had any control of when food would come out of the kitchen or what would show up. Overall the food was good (except the paella) but didn't make up for poor service and really long waits for everything!
