Start out your meal with one of the many appetizers like the fennel and mushroom salad or the calamari. The restaurant serves homemade pasta and offers fresh seafood options like the capellini and crab and the linguini ai frutti di mare fradiavolo. Florentino’s Restaurant also offers vegetarian options like the pasta con gorgonzola so there’s sure to be something for everyone on the menu at this Newtown, Pennsylvania restaurant.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Florentino's on Saturday night. Fortunately, we had a reservation because the restaurant is relatively small, and books up on weekends. My scallop and black pasta entree was fantastic, and my wife's fish entree was perfectly prepared. Great food along with BYOB makes Florentino's one of our favorite restaurants.
Very accommodating. Great fresh food.
Food was excellent! We had a party of four and we all enjoyed out entrees and dessert. The noise level was so high it was hard to carry on a conversation. Part of it is the layout of the restaurant. We would return but only on a less crowded weekday night.
Quint atmosphere and very good food. Everything was fresh and home made. Place is small so definitely need a reservation on busy nights. Can be loud but a very nice little spot.
Our salads were very good. We ordered one with goat cheese & roasted peppers and one with spinach & Gorgonzola. The Corvino entree was delicious and the veal Marsala was very good!
Reliable Spot for very good Italian Food! Small, intimate place, so make a reservation. We've been going here for years and it never disappoints. We just had the mussels appetizer (which was a bit skimpy on the mussels) but very tasty. My wife had the Salmon, I had Veal Medallions with Shrimp in a White Wine Sauce.
It was a very nice evening.
Food was excellent!
Lovely, small restaurant in the heart of Newtown Borough. Great specials. BYOB.
Outstanding food and ambiance. This will become a regular stop!
Just had dinner on Saturday night and the scallops were delicious. Best meal I’ve had in a while. Can’t wait to go back soon .
When we entered the restaurant we were seated right away, and the 2 servers quickly got us some water an opened our wine. While we were enjoying appetizers, one of the servers came over and shushed us. Our group was laughing, but not saying or doing anything inappropriate. Another table kept giving us the evil eye from across the room and their server came over to our table and asked us to be quite. Our server was very embarrassed by this, but this did not leave us with a good impression and ruined the rest of the dinner. None of us will be returning. I highly suggest that if you want to enjoy your dinner with good conversation that you go somewhere else.
Very cozy and friendly place. Food was good, but pricey. Service could be faster. It was a big birthday party that day, so it was extremely noisy. I will try ones again.
This is a lovely BYOB spot in Newtown with consistently great food and service.
Good food, but limited menu (especially appetizers).
Service was excellent and so was food. It was all fresh and delicious!
The chicken Florentino is delicious and is also a huge serving with a very generous potion of side vegetables and mashed potatoes. Stop by Triple Spirits down the block for a cocktail before or after dinner.
This place is nothing special. Chairs are ripped and service is ehhh.
Far too noisy and food just ok
The food was exceptional, and the service was even more amazing. Anything on the menu can be customized to whatever you want, and the chef cooks exactly what you ordered, and even beyond the quality you would expect. Great restaurant, and one that once you visit it once, it will be one that you will be going back to!
Great food and service was excellent also.
Eggplant parm..... that's what you need to know!!!👍😊
Dined on a Thursday night when there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant, so can't confirm complaints about noise or crowdedness as reported by others. Service was great. Waitress was friendly and attentive. We had a great meal - mussels alla pomarola appetizer was excellent. Mussels were fresh and in a light, very flavorful tomato sauce, too good to be wasted so used bread to sop up every morsel. Also recommend the Chicken Florentino. Will definitely be going back.
It's gotten really loud in the confined space, and the waitress that we had, who must have been new, was completely ignorant as to how to serve, handing hot dishes, etc. across the table for us to pass instead of walking over to the other side of the table and placing them in front of the patron. Their pastas are good, but their sauces over meat dishes are too heavy.
Florentino’s’s never disappoints. Food is the message here and it’s fine Italian. The chef specializes in fish and this is apparent on the extensive menu.
Wait service completely knowledgeable and helpful, friendly. Can be quite busy on weekends, reserve. Lunch or dinner-either is enjoyable. Parking always has been easy for us on the street, or around in back. BYOB
And we live six minutes away!
We went to Florentino’s regularly when we lived in the area and now we return for special occasions. We are always glad we did. It does cost $3 plus, but the garlic wheat bread is worth it. If you like ice cream, a stop a few shops down at the Zebra Striped Whale Cafe is a must after dinner. The location in downtown, historic Newtown Borough is fantastic. Ask for a table by the window by the street. It has the feel of being in a quaint village in a city.
The lasagna and eggplant parm are the best things there.
The food was very good. Unfortunately, my wife found a paper piece of an old menu in her platter. Also , we were promised additional bread several times but it didn’t show up until after my wife and I finished our meals. Prices were reasonable. It was a non-memorable meal and there are better options in Newtown for Italian fare
Consistantly good service and food . Menu could be a little more varied but still a great place to eat .
We enjoyed our dinner. The food was vey satisfactory. Our servers were pleasant. There was a misunderstanding about one order, but it was remedied.
Always a great meal here. Enjoyed the Eggplant Parmigiana and a salad portions are large so be hungry and the restaurant has such a great location. There’s a craft cocktail bar just a few blocks away to start the night and all sorts of night life after dinner. Service is excellent.
The food is excellent, and the service is exceptional! I highly recommend!
GREAT FOOD EXCELLENT SERVICE BYOB PERFECT. THEN WALKED OVER TO SEE THE PLAY.
good food, poor service, portions smaller than ever...
Had a great time! Food was excellent and service was great.
Service was excellent and timely. Food was very good. We both had specials. Used a Groupons to reduce the cost.
Food was excellent as always but service was terrible. Waited for for desert menu then finally gave up after 20 min then asked for check which took another 20 min. Finally just gave card to another waiter. Eggplant parm is worth trip back. Hopefully they are on top of it next time.
Nice place in Newtown, just needs to change their menu once in a while!
Reserved through Open Table, included the fact I had a Groupon to use. Received a confirmation phone call asking that when I use the Groupon, could I pay the balance in cash.....something about credit card surcharges.
The food was ok. The service was not strong. We were not greeted in a friendly manner and it took a long time to get a wine chiller and bread even though we were asked multiple times. They even ask if you want house bread or garlic bread as if they’re both complimentary, but there’s a charge for the garlic bread. Shady.
After dinner, I tried to use my Groupon. Waiter wouldn’t take it. The ‘manager’ at first refused it. I insisted she accept it considering I am honoring all of the fine print. It’s a very small place. My issue became an issue for all the neighboring tables....I felt like I was the problem. What was supposed to be a relaxing evening out turned into a frustrating and unpleasant one. That changed as soon as we left......
Went for Bucks County restaurant week and each got the 35 dollar menu. We we're quickly seated and our wine was opened and poured. The waitress went over our menu options. They forgot to bring out the first course antipasto, and honestly they could have skipped it. It was about 6 olives and a few slices of grocery store cheese which we had to split. The second course cesear salad was ok, nothing special. The linguine Al frutti di mare fradiavolo was good, and salvaged the experience a bit, although some of the seafood seemed overdone. Also the upcharged for bread. Overall I felt like they were determined to make as much money as possible off of you, instead of showing off their restaurant. Will most likely not be returning.
First, wait staff was extremely attentive. Atmosphere was just ok, tables close together in a row. Food was okay too. I had lobster ravioli and if there was any lobster in it I sure couldn’t find it. My wife had eggplant palm which she liked a lot. Prices were about average for an Italian restaurant in the area, but the food didn’t stand up to the price.
