Flora Street Cafe
As always, we very much enjoyed our dinner here. There were two new dishes on the menu - softshell crab and halibut in a blanc mole. Both were fantastic. Service was great - just the right amount of attention from Kevin, who was terrific waiter.
Obviously I had heard about Stephen Pyles for a while. I will be honest, I had high expectations. I’m not sure why. Our table ordered oysters, bbq flat bread and I ordered mussels. Everything we got for appetizers was cold. The cheese wasn’t even melty anymore. The oysters were ok, but my bread was very burnt. A very simple detail that was lacking. We did try desserts which is apparently what they are know for. They were good, there is no doubt about that. Overall, I left very underwhelmed.
Our food didn't come out for at last 45 minutes, and the explanation and apology were inadequate. The manager should have comped at least something as a token of good will.
I office in the building about the restaurant, but it's getting harder and harder to justify coming back.
Great food, great service, a Dallas Treasure. Stephan Pyle does an outstanding job. His Brunch is fantastic. Dinner is great.Have been multiple times. One of our favorite restaurants.
Perfect spot for a special night out. We started with the TEXAS WAGYU TARTARE, GREEN TOMATO, HUITLACOCHE, TRUFFLES, PARMESAN, EGG YOLK, KENNEBEC POTATO CHIPS. The components are mixed together and then eaten with the potato chips. For an entree, I ordered the TEXAS WAGYU STUFFED QUAIL, BUTTERNUT SQUASH, APPLES, TRUFFLES, RATTLESNAKE BEANS, CRAWFISH XOl. The butternut squash was cut into dainty cubes that almost melted in my mouth. The dollops of Rattlesnake beans were extremely tasty. This dish was a great choice. Next time, I want to try the LOBSTER TAMALE PIE, STURGEON CAVIAR, ANCHO GLASS. It looked beautiful!
We did the pre-theater menu, which is a great way to do this fabulous restaurant if you have to be mindful of your budget. You have two options each for appetizer, entree, and dessert. My tomato/burrata salad was flavorful, the creamy cheese melding withe the strawberry vinaigrette. The wagyu hanger steak was perfectly cooked and complemented by a smear of balsamic reduction and a pool of celeriac purée. To finish I had the pistachio mousse, a heavenly concoction with just a hint of tartness. My guest had the winter root soup/salmon/chocolate mousse, and raves about his choices as well. On the pre-theater menu wine pairing is available for a very reasonable $20. The ambience here is elegant and serene, with a fascinating kinetic sculpture that that is reminiscent of a jellyfish floating through the ocean. Service was excellent, friendly and professional, but unobtrusive. A memorable experience and a real treat.
Great Lunch place! Great service and fantastic food, especially the Pistachio dessert.
Had brisket hash for brunch, seemed like nothing on the plate was prepared fresh...hash was cold, brisket was super dry, etc. That said, I still want to try FSC for dinner before I give up on it, altogether.
Went for brunch. Menu sounded great but most of it was bland. No flavor on the fig flatbread, no flavor on the lobster club. The duck was the only thing that actually had flavor.
Got us in and out before a show with great good, wine and service. I like this place.
This restaurant was just perfect. The simplicity and in direct contrast sophistication is a beautiful dance that they do well. Go!
We arrived straight from the airport, underdressed not realizing check-in at our hotel was later in the afternoon. Staff welcomed us early, waiter was very attentive, and the food was everything we wanted it to be 👌
Lovely atmosphere to gather with friends for a delicious lunch served by an excellent wait staff. Only down side was that they were out of an item on the menu that of my guest ordered.
Food was delicious. Our server, Kevin, was attentive and easygoing.
Once again, Mr Pyles offered up an amazingly tempting menu making it difficult to make choices for dinner! I finally decided on the beef tartar followed by the salmon. Both were melt in your mouth delicious, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. I also had a great surprise in finding out that long time Dallas foodie, Paul Pannell, joined the team at Flora Street!!
Hts off once again to Stephen and his staff!
As always, everything was Great! Date night for wife and I, and Flora was our choice of cuisine......thanks to all the staff for another great evening!
This is the best restaurant in Dallas!
The staff (especially Kevin) & the food could not be better!
Terrific everything at Flora Street Cafe
Very nice time once again. Chef Cody is the best and Stephan Pyles has done a great job with the menu.
The entire staff did a good job taking care of us.
We came here for our wedding anniversary. Everything was stellar from the amuse bouche to the tiny complimentary dessert bites at the end. Chef Pyles even came by our table to check on us. Elegant and profoundly delicious!
Stephen Pyles remains the best chef in Dallas. He has a touch and unique palate that remains creative and interesting and entertaining to me since I first had his food at Routh Street. Well worth my time and money every time
Food was cold
The new lunch menu had multiple items that looked incredible. I’ll be back to work my way through the menu.
Not having had brunch at Flora St cafe I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was every bit as wonderful as anything associated with Stephen Pyles always is with prices that make it one of the best deals around. My friend and I decided to split 2 dishes- the brisket with poached egg on a muffin and absolutely glorious pancakes with house made whipped cream, cinnamon and sugar and oh yes, the pancakes were loaded with blueberries in and around the pancakes which were buttery deliciousness. Definitely an OMG- pancakes were like dessert. Definitely a bargain for that kind of magic!
Any time I’m in the area I will definitely hit this again on my way to DMA, the Nasher or any other event in the arts vicinity!
We just visited Dallas for the first time and reserved a table at Flora Street Cafe as after dinner we were heading off to the Dallas Black Dance Theater, just down the street. The dinner, service and atmosphere were spectacular! I particularly enjoyed the experience of the appetizer of the Lobster Tamale Pie with the ancho glass that one cracks with a spoon in order to access the lobster tamale pie. It was so elegantly presented. I also loved the passion fruit sorbet!
Outstanding and impeccable service and food.
We have dined there many times, but the last two times, the quality of the food was mediocre at best.
Great theater menu
Lunch date with hubby before Hamilton the musical.
This place used to be good but our last experience was the worst. I called in and checked on availability of vegetarian food tasting which advertised on their website and the lady who answered the phone confirmed on it. However, when we got there to celebrate my wife’s birthday we were told they don’t have it anymore. After talking with manager, he said he’ll ask chef and do it. However, food came out to be very mediocre and uncooked. Upon bringing this to attention, we were told next time to email manager prior to coming. Did I mention, for dinner time we were the only 2 people there. It was completely empty. This is unacceptable from a well known restaurant. Why advertise and confirm on phone when in reality once customer walks in you can’t serve. Our waiter was very good and he mentioned there’s some issues happening between inside kitchen and outside kitchen chefs and that’s partly the reason. Cocktails were good.
The food as always was delicious, but there was a noticeable drop off in the quality and attentiveness of the service. What made this particularly troubling is that we had the same waiter we have had on previous occasions. The meal took over two hours, our waiter was often not seen, and even the coffee was not refilled. Flora Street won’t be around very long if this is the quality of service it provides.
There was a fire in the kitchen so we only got apps and desert which they did not charge for. What they should have done was give us a free dinner for three for next time at those prices
Service (Tim) was wonderful. Food was creative and delicious. We appreciated the chef’s personal visit to our table!
Beautiful restaurant. Food and service were great.
So glad Stephen Pyles has decided to partner with Tim Byres to re-invent Flora Street into a more accessible/affordable restaurant. Brunch is a great start as the menu is varied and interesting and the execution excellent. Brunch pricing is very similar to other places with much more pedestrian offerings. If the dinner menu is as affordable this will turn from an infrequent/special occasion place to a regular dining stop. Excellent, thoughtful and down to earth service as well. You won't be disappointed.
Amazing food , excellent service ! Much more recommend the restaurant to everyone!!!
Light open airy space with an incrediblly wonderful aroma that greats you as you enter (spices, wooodsmoke, meat). The food was incredible. Will definitely eat there again.
Lovely. Just lovely. Food, service and ambiance were fantastic.
