Flora Street Cafe
Another wonderful and memorable evening at Flora St. Cafe. The restaurant always beats all of our expectations and are willing to cater to all of our dietary restrictions
This was our second time to FSC. The first was exemplary. This one was not. Front of the house was same great service. Back of the house struggled with timeliness and quality. Both were erratic. We will try again but, for the price, will expect exemplary.
It was great! This was their first Sunday brunch and it was a big hit! The food was delicious. I had the Caesar salad with salmon and my friend had the pulled pork eggs benedict. We loved it. Mimosas were very good. And we shared the donuts for dessert. The decor in the dining room is gorgeous! And the setting in the Arts District is stunning.
It turns out we were there for their inaugural brunch service. The food was as good as always for chef Stephan’s restaurants, and the service was well informed and fun.
Flora Street may be the best restaurant in Dallas. The food is innovative. The presentation is exceptional. We like to sit at the kitchen bar and watch them prepare food. It was nice to see Stephen Pyle at the restaurant. The service is always exceptional. Overall a great evening.
Flora Street is bright and airy, lots of windows. The food unusual and quite good. We enjoyed each course, one of us sticking with the small plates and the other adding an entree. Service was excellent.
Worth every penny. The food at Flora Street is delicious and the service was on point. Mr. Pyles visited every table that night to say hello which was nice. We had dinner early since we were headed to the theatre. Our waiter was super attentive and cognizant of our time so we weren't late for the play. I started with the lobster tamale pie which is absolutely decadent and delicious...even better than the tamale tart from his past restaurant as this version didn't have a crust. I like that he updated this. We both had the poached halibut. It was cooked perfectly, crispy skin and tender fish. Only one tiny thing...I could do with less sweetness of the coconut. Don't get me wrong, it's delicious and not heavy...just a preference for me. The veggies were my favorite. My guest had the lemon-thyme curd, passion fruit sorbet for dessert. I had a bite and OMG that custard/sorbet and pistachio crust/cookie were amazing! We had a nice bottle of Sancerre with our meal and it was very reasonable priced. My only reason for not rating the ambiance higher...the restaurant was not busy and it was spring break but we were still seated by the back door. I didn't understand why but didn't make a fuss. Also, that thing that drops up and down from the ceiling that looks like an upside down flowy lamp shade is very distracting when you're facing it while dining. But, the restaurant itself is beautiful. Not too formal, not too casual, great lighting and the open kitchen is great.
Chad our server was excellent, the food outstanding and the venue superb! My wife and I had a lovely romantic dinner. Highly recommend!
Our waiter, Harold, was outstanding. He was calm and explained the menu items clearly.
Wonderful restaurant and the staff is flawless Stephan Pyles is a Genius!
Service and tastes were quite good. A bit underwhelmed by portion sizes as compared to other haute cuisine restaurants we've visited (Besh's and all of Emeril's shops in New Orleans, Callichio's and Giada's shops in LV, and many more less famous folks in DC, Charleston, NOLA, etc). And the vegetarian option they came up with for my wife was fairly uninspired- simply subbed out a cauliflower steak for a protien at the same menu price. Why not put together a "sides" plate instead? Or have ONE veggie entree on the menu? Our first visit here (fall) went much better on both points.
The food is excellent, the service is very professional but there were two distractions that were negatives. We found the music level so high we were continually asking each other to repeat their comments and the jelly fish art work above the bar was very distracting to those guests that faced the bar.
Fun birthday night!
Great experience here. The music was as eclectic as the food 80s, 90s, opera?? Go rare on the steak though if you like rare.
Great lunchtime service. We enjoyed our server’s recommendations to get the experience of the Southwest flavors. Plenty of time to enjoy the well prepared food and be back at work on time. Pampered experience. Delicious food.
We’ve wanted to go here for a while, and it was well worth the wait. We enjoyed the chef’s menu with wine pairing, and we were not disappointed! The food was amazing, the pairings were spot on, and the service delightful. I love being introduced to new wine and wine regions, and our sommelier delivered. Such a wonderful experience. We can’t wait to share it with friends!
Wouldn’t recommend the wine pairings. They include a few Texas wines and other odd wines from areas not known for good production. The waiter was great and switched out our waygu pairing - originally paired with a TX wine that wasn’t very good.
I discovered glass shards in my dessert and when I pointed it out to the waiter I was told it wasn’t glass it was from nitrogen that got crystalized. I found more later and it was definitely glass.
From when we sat down til our lunch entre was served was over 55 min . Could not get the attention of waiters nearby most walking around with eyes on the floor. we were served by 2 different waiters who seemed to hand us off but didnt communicate with one another. When we were served, the waiters were very pleasant but did not apologize. Food was very good but 1:30 for lunch was out of line. The restaurant at lunch seemed understaffed.
My friend is vegetarian and you had no menu for that and the cauliflower steak that was brought out I’ve seen done better and at far lower prices.
Beautiful place; exceptional service. Food was weird...portions too small; exotic preparations for appetizers that rendered them odd. Pricey; left hungry after finishing every morsel of served food.
Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, the food was outstanding, and the overall experience was second to none. Be sure to leave plenty of time for your meal (>2 hours), so that you can enjoy every minute.
Pricey, but a great special occasion treat. Staff is attentive, the food original AND tasty. And, if you like complete transparency you can see everything that is happening in the open kitchen.
Incredible room with Pyles signature attention to food quality, service and ambiance. Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Voila
We celebrated Valentines at lunch instead of dinner, easier while our daughter is in school. We so enjoyed the environment and the service, and can’t wait to go back! It felt like a special occasion even though it wasn’t at dinner time.
Wife’s b-day. Great, as usual.
Waiter was helpful in telling us what we could get quickly before theater, but we did have some time lapses in service because he seemed to be serving all over the restaurant.
Everyone seemed happy with their food. Lobster tamale, salmon, tuna carpaccio, potato chips, all good.
After living in Uptown (Dallas) for five years then moving out-of-state we recently made our annual visit back to this area. The first reservation we made was at Flora Street Cafe--very much akin to reconnecting with a cherished friend. We adore the tasting menu with wine pairings. How else to partake in such a gustatory tour de force as created by Chef Pyles?!? It truly is our foremost dining experience of the year (we were able to spoil ourselves more frequently at the Flora Street Cafe when we lived in Dallas and one of the top experiences we miss). The experience is perfection from the moment we enter: engaging, knowledgeable service; a conducive, pleasurable ambiance; the inspired, creative tasting menu; a sommelier who was joy to interact with, and such meaningful 'presents' when we left. We're already counting the days until we visit once again!
Cool and elegant decor, super attentive staff. Get the lobster tamale, it was incredible. A little pricey, but well worth it for a special occasion.
A beautiful dinner for my wife’s birthday...service was impeccable
Winter root veg soup was outstanding as was the ceviche with salmon and scallops.
Elegant surroundings and food presentation. Great attention to detail. Will be back soon to savor the tasting menu!!
We didn’t like our server 😔 but first time I found something bad with this restaurant. I love love Flora Street Cafe but today wasn’t great as usual.
Food was excellent as always although the ceviche mixta was not as good as other ceviche dishes I had had at other Stephan Pyles’s restaurants. The fish was heavy and the ice with it was an odd combination. The lamb belly was excellent!
The food was truly an amazing gastronomic experience. The service though left a bad taste in my mouth...it wasn’t anywhere near as good as my last visit to the restaurant. It took 30 minutes to just get the menus. When we finally received the appetizers, the waiter was clearly in a hurry and acted like he wanted to be somewhere else pronto. At the end the guests at each table next to us received a gift from the chef, as I had on my previous visit, but for whatever reason we weren’t offered one.
Took the girl I’m dating there for our second date, and it was the best decision ever!
Wonderful time. Food was artfully presented and perfect. Dining room was understated yet elegant. Service was top-notch. Very happy.
Excellent service and attention to detail. Outstanding food.
Service and food were outstanding. Rarely is food this entertaining.
I have loved all of Stephen Pyle's venues over the years, but this one beats them all. I've read recently that Flora Street Cafe is the only true 5-star restaurant in the DFW area, and I definitely agree. Yes, it even beats The French Room, people, because every aspect of Flora Stree Cafe is 5-stars.
At the top of the list is its absolutely delicious food with its attention to detail - every morsel, from the main entree to the garnishes are delectable and noteworthy.
The service is impeccable. Regardless of the number of people in your party, each place is served at the same time, with a group of individual servers, one for each diner at the table. The wait staff is courteous, knowledgeable and competent.
The ambiance is perfect. Beautiful decor and a relaxed yet upbeat atmosphere is evident the moment one walks through the door and is graciously greeted by the maitre d'. But I think most notably, the noise level is low, pleasant and conducive for conversation, a commodity not easily found these days.
And every time I've dined there, Stephen Pyle has come to our table to greet us, ask how things are, and thank us for dining at Flora Street.
Truly and totally 5-stars!
Love coming here-lunch and dinner are both fabulous!
