From the husband-and-wife team of mixologist Liz Pearce and chef Jonathan Meyer comes a new global-rustic restaurant in River North: Flora Fauna. Inspired by the Chicago duo’s intensive travels and cooking stints across Latin America, South America and Southeast Asia, Flora Fauna features the flavors and old world techniques they honed while doing tasting tours in Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Hong Kong and more. Together, the pair has come up with both kitchen and bar menus that boast a variety of international influences, bringing the tropics to the heart of Chicago. The staff is extremely friendly and the food was excellent. This is a great place to get food and drinks before a night out or it could just be the night out!

The brunch menu was small but everything we ordered was very good. Cute inside. Pork shank bowl was fabulous and the loaded sweet potato fries were very good.

We were probably fortunate that we had dinner on a Sunday evening because the restaurant was not very crowded which made the experience that much better. It was very quiet and romantic and the food was top notch. We were able to bring our own bottle of wine which was a plus and all of the recommendations were spot on! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
