Flint Ratings and Reviews
Always a nice place for a business lunch. The atmosphere is relaxing. We just so happened to have a waitress in training, and I would suggest her feedback be to slow down and provide adequate attention to her customers and not rush off to help others before her current customers were done. She did not ask if we would like dessert or a coffee and when she brought my ticket she didn't leave a pen for me to sign. It was a pleasant surprise to be able to see the Chicago Bulls departing their bus to stay at the Colcord.
Only issue was we had reservations for 10am, we’re seated immediately, but it took 10+ minutes to all get our drinks (variety of milk, coffee and bar drinks) and we didn’t get our food until after 11am. The food was good and the portion sizes were decent. Our kids got pancakes and French toast and they got huge portions. The omelets were decent sized. Everything was delicious.
I made a reservation for brunch the previous day to follow our family pics being done nearby. When we arrived, I stood at the hostess stand several minutes before being helped. One hostess was setting a table & saw me. The other, I'm not sure. She finally came over, horribly unfriendly, asked if I had been helped (obviously I hadn't), & then said she would get our table ready. I'm not sure why it wasn't ready since the reservation had been made the day before (note: table was not dirty, just not set). I'm not sure on the time we waited for her to set the table, but it was long enough for us to get on Openable & see who else had brunch openings. My husband was ready to leave & I said let's give 2 more mins. Our res was for 11:15, it was now 11:28. During this time, I witnessed a family speak to the manager about waiting at the table for 25 minutes still with menus. We were finally seated 3 mins later in an area by the bar that was quieter, which was nice, but it was freezing due to being close to doors going to the outdoor patio & the cold outside. Our waiter was good but got busy with the bar. Other waitresses helped out though. Espresso machine was broke. Took over 20 min to get food. My husband & I ordered the SXSW but I modified mine without the fried tomatoes/hollandaise & added a side salad with dressing on side. The "poached" eggs arrived soft boiled, practically hard boiled. The english muffin, if toasted at all, was soft and cold & did not seem toasted. Guac & sauce sparse. While the flavor was okay despite everything, my husband said "this is just visually unappealing" & I agree. My daughter's pancakes were good however. Dressing & maple syrup was forgotten and had to be requested. I'm still not sure the salad wasn't already lightly dressed despite asking for it on side. We waited a long time for water refills. If you're staying here & short on time, it's an option, but there are a ton of really good brunch places nearby. Go to one of them instead.
I found this restaurant on Open Table and decided to try it when we passed through OKC. We had a wonderful meal. There was a basketball game later that evening, so it was pretty busy. Our food was wonderful. I had the pot roast and my companion had the shrimp and grits. We enjoyed every bite! I had a great Manhattan and the wine choices were interesting as well. Our service was professional and attentive without being intrusive. It was a great experience.
Dining room was very cold. The women at our table were wearing coats, and the men had their arms crossed to keep warm. They didn’t ask whether we preferred a booth (comfy for 4) or a table (tight fit for 4), but seated us at a table even though there were plenty of booths available.
My husband, son, daughter-in-law and I went to the Flint to celebrate our wedding anniversaries. Since both of ours are so close, we try to do this every year. We had a wonderful time. The food was awesome, the service outstanding and the ambiance was comforting and relaxing. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. I haven't been to the brunch yet, but my daughter informs me it is top notch.
Another perfect experience at my favorite restaurant! The sweet potato fries are the best and fried green tomatoes appetizer is something I’ll definitely be ordering again. The risotto never disappoints, I usually order whatever comes with that -this time it was the trout and it was amazing too! You can’t beat the service or the coffees & mimosas during the day. Flint is my first choice for any occasion!
Waitress was very prompt and nice she also gave great food recomendations. I asked for a well done steak but it was bruned well done does not mean brunt. The cake and pie were very tasty but the pie should come with ice cream. I would recommend Flint but not a well done steak.
Excellent food, and environment. Our waitress who we have had for a second time was not great. She did not write down our orders at both visits and our food was wrong. We had brunch mimosas and we were told they were cheaper than what was charged. This server was also training, therefore instilling poor customer service to their trainee. Our drinks were often unfilled, and we had to make request for more coffee, water, and mimosas to the point we had to go to the bar to even get a second drink. When brought management, our order was resolved and was provided discounts. Yet, our server did not feel the need to apologize for poor service, and our incorrect order. We at the table have all served tables and know what is required of a server and generally overcompensate servers for what they do. Yet, when given this type of service is difficult to justify more than 15%. Also, we were not ID’d for our drinks, we are in our early 20’s, we are at age but for the safety of their restaurant, all should be ID’d by the off chance people are underage or someone is working undercover.
Unfortunately the service was poor in such a nice venue. Took 20 minutes for the staff to figure out who had our table in the section. Then got food missing 3 ingredients, sides and avocado. Took 10 minutes and half an eaten meal before my ingredients were corrected. Then gave me a check before I could ask for dessert. Paid bill and left.
Excellent food. The pot roast was better than moms and that is quite a complement. The veggies with the pot roast were cooked to perfection. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was topped with an interesting finishing. Daniel our server was knowledgeable and did a fine job.
Menu has changed significantly and not in a good way. The waiter was trying so hard to be "posh" that it was super irritating. He didn't know a lot about the food and I had to correct him. They are still very expensive but the food is not of an elevated quality like it was a few months ago. The bartender was not adept at making cocktails either. Used to be one of my favorite restaurants and now I won't be returning.
Outstanding food, I had the spinach and peach salad followed by the best shrimp, andouille, and grits I've ever had (I'm from New Orleans), with a lovely tomato base. Savannah, our server, was a charmer and had excellent meal suggestions for each of us. I liked it so much that I went back the next evening for the same meal!
The food here is so good, but the service is not acceptable. First, we waited for our wine for an hour (the manager had the key to the wine cellar and was no where to be found). Our waitperson just disappeared. We let them know we had an 8pm curtain. We got there at 6:15pm and our food arrived at 7:30pm. All the apologies in the world would have made us feel better. The service has always been a bit slow, but this was outrageous. We will never come back.
We had dinner before the philharmonic and then went for dessert after. Most Flint and Colcord staff members were very congenial and helpful. The hostess was a bit snippy, which somewhat surprised us. As for food, one of us is vegetarian (the marinated cauliflower was amazing!) and one was gluten free (the steak was fantastic). Unfortunately, none of the desserts were gluten free so we just had coffee and left. It would be great to see nicer restaurants, such as Flint, to move into the 21st century with more contemporary food options. More and more people are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. It's hard to eat out -- even when there is only one option, it becomes redundant so we don't go to the same restaurant as often.
Everything was great except they overcooked the fried chicken tenders. At one point I had to get up from the table and locate a waiter which was ridiculous. I also had to order an expresso twice. The rest of the meal and service were great, and the atmosphere and decor are super cool.
