Based on reviews on the Open Table website, and on the fact that the location was not far off of our travel path, we chose the Public House in Flint Hill, VA as our dinner dining option while on the way home from Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive. We drove up to a wonderfully decorated property with well kept grounds - providing a great view from the restaurant inside. We were seated immediately by the hostess and our server provided attentive, friendly service at a good pace throughout our meal. We sat in a well padded booth next to the Christmas tree, with windows looking out on the front nearby. Our appetizer was prepared promptly and tasted great. My sons had shrimp scampi and pasta alfredo, I had chardonnay chicken and my husband had the beef brisket. Each of us was thrilled with the flavor of our meal. The wine pairings suggested by our server complemented our food very well. The creme brulee and the mousse desserts were quite delicious. Overall, we were very pleased with the Public House offerings, and have deemed this place " A KEEPER" for future dining options! Well done, Public House staff, we will return! Flint Hill is a beautiful part of Virginia especially in the fall, but there aren't a lot of quality dining choices nearby. The Publick House is worth a visit - it's as pretty and welcoming as a fine restaurant, but reasonably priced with down-home selections like pork ribs (full or half-rack) and steak. The ice tea with locally made Copper Ridge rye is a terrific cocktail. You can eat in the bar or in the more elegant dining room, but don't have to dress up. Jeans work fine here, even on Saturday night.

Great place, I'm ok with the modern decor...liked the old farmy look better...but the food is delicious and the back patio is wonderful in spring!

Great as alway's. The big bonus for dog owners is that you can take your extended family and enjoy a beautiful back yard setting. Food is prepared to order and outstanding. Dog menu as well. Staff always polite and spot on.

This restaurant, out in rural Virginia, is excellent. If you are in the concentric circle of Castleton Festival, Sperryville, Little Washington, consider the short drive to Flint Hill. The Public House, on Zachary Taylor Highway, won't disappoint. They serve anchovies on their Caesar salad, like a Caesar should have, so heads up. Our server was Tabby, very attentive.

Flint Hill Public House was recommended to us by the inn that my husband and I were staying at over the weekend. After hearing mixed reviews from other guests we decided to take a shot and give it a try. The dining room was beautifully decorated and we were seated promptly upon arrival. Our waitress was knowledgeable and able to make suggestions at our request. My husband and I ended up choosing the crab cakes and catfish per her recommendation. Unfortunately both entrees were quite a let down. The catfish was raw in the center and the crab cakes were runny and served with almost raw red potatoes. I love potatoes, so trust that this was not a deal breaker for me, but the crab cakes left left much to be desired. My husband and I both have many years of experience in the fine dining industry, so we are not ones to complain unless something is truly undercooked. Upon informing the waitress of our problem with the catfish, she returned to say the chef was sorry and that the cut was rather large and must have been the reason for the poor prep of the dish. At no point did the chef offer to further cook the dish or offer a dessert to make up for the poorly cooked dish. My husband and I were not looking for a free meal by any means, but when a chef acknowledges the reality of a problem and nothing is done that is a true breakdown in customer service. We will not be returning on our next visit to the area.

We ate here on Saturday May 2. It was delightful. The beautiful weather and the outside seating added to our enjoyment of our wonderful sandwiches. I had the BBQ pork which was tasty and tangy. My friends had other sandwiches that were equally delightful. We all enjoyed a piece of the coconut cake baked by a neighborhood local. It was moist with just the right amount of sweetness.

Good home cooked food. The brisket was tasty and tender although there was a big piece of fat on my plate. Smashed potatoes were awesome. The tequila chicken was good with just enough heat to remind you that it was Mexican food. It was supposed to ebserved over a salsa verde risotto . I saw e salsa verde but not the risotto. The corn salsa was refrigerator cold and served over the chicken so it immediately cold off he chicken.

FHPH is a great little restaurant out in the beautiful country. The staff, to include the manager and head chef, are accommodating and extremely personable. It is about a 25 minute drive from Warrenton, VA. We have been there three times in the last three weeks! Brunch is awesome. This last visit was for Steak night. Super reasonable prices for the specials. And I like that they offer a large selction of VA wines on the wine list.

So...this place is amazing. We went there for Sunday brunch on the way to a nearby winery. This is my second trip to Flint Hill Public House for brunch. I have enjoyed both visits. I liked what I ate both times. Reasonable prices and adequate portions. First time we sat inside and this time outside. There was a jazz player and the weather was perfect. It was a clean and bright otudoor eating area and the grounds were impeccable.
