Flinders Lane - Stamford
Cuisines of Southeast Asia with subtle mediterranean influences and pub inspired grilled meats. No fussing, no over thinking, just bold, streamlined food made with the best ingredients available and a laser focus on flavor.
Was there on Saint Patrick's for dinner. The drinks were good. Had the flatbread and dumplings for starters. Both excellent. Split a Surf & Turf. Steak was well prepared. Could have used a couple more shrimp for a dish that was $38. Grilled asparagus outstanding. Had the pudding to close. Quite good. Our server was quite helpful and on top of everything.
Awesome exprience all around. Best fries anywhere.
I have been to this restaurant numerous times and the food, drinks and service is impeccable!!!
Love this place!!
Great food and great wine
Went for Sunday brunch. Wasn’t too busy and atmosphere was relaxed. Our food was excellent. Didn’t have drinks but might come back for some of the specialities. Service was just OK but overall it was a good experience. You
Was a bit disappointed that we made a reservation and didn’t sit down to eat until an hour after said reservation. The service was great and attentive. I would only go back for happy hour to see how that is vs a sit down dinner
Really poor service from guy at front door. Despite reserving and being on time, we were told to go to bar even though there were some tables open. 20 mins later, had to chase him and he eventually shows us to the worst table he could find, acting all fed up. Our server was great, very friendly but one of the dishes was really bad (the veg red curry) but at least they took it off the bill.
All told, not great, probably won’t return
Creative and delicious drinks!
Beautiful Desserts. Delicious entrees!
Love this place! We come here often. Food and drinks are always great. Sometimes service can be on the slow side, but we always enjoy our experience overall.
The food was mediocre
Shishito Peppers (v)- seven spice | sea salt - average
Chicken Lemongrass Dumpling - soy ginger broth | micro cilantro | crispy garlic - was tasty
braised beef | flaky pie crust | served with chips & salad - was unflavored hamburger meat pot pie
beer battered cod | fresh cut fries | tartar sauce - was single piece of thick unflavord batter (not crisp) covering unflavored fish
Waitress totally (bare - condiments, napkins, water glass, and all!) cleared the table while we were still seated and in the process of paying the bill.
Perhaps birthing pains - may improve with time.
A great change of pace for a different menu. The drinks were good as was the service. Food is a bit pricey for what it is, but was enjoyable nonetheless.
Wonderful service & eager to make sure customers are happy!
This dinner was a date night with my wife and the experience was great.
We had been to this restaurant before, over a year ago, and were surprised how much it changed. The layout and ambiance are much better now. At our previous dinner here we enjoyed dishes that had kangaroo meat and a stew with rabbit meat. We were confused when we no longer saw those items, but our server informed us that their menu changes occasionally for the different seasons.
We were there during Restaurant Week, so we had the pleasure of ordering from the special menu. My wife ordered the wagyu beef burger, which was excellent. I had the meat pie, which was also good. The desserts were delicious; though be warned that the passion fruit sauce on the meringue one is very tart.
Definitely one of the better restaurants in Stamford.
Well prepped, nicely presented. Service was casual but appropriate. Dining room modestly appointed.
Truffle mac and cheese - delicious
Drinks - delicious
Surf and turf - delicious
Chicken and fries - delicious
Pavlova - delicious
Max - handsome
Service - perfect
This is my favorite place in Stamford! Food, service, and ambiance are always great. Their cocktails and wine selection are even better. The Milo brownie is back which I love. Can't wait to come back.
The Lamb chops entree with bordelaise sauce and brussel sprouts was delicious! Great recommendation by the waiter named Nick!
Great food but they dropped from their menu the best in the old menu which was the seared Branzino. Bring it back.
A little bit of Australia in Stamford CT. Friendly and professional staff. Great interiors. The dumplings, sausage rolls, flat bread, and Australian lamb steamed buns are all amazing. Highly recommend the meat pies and any other special pie that the chef creates. The kangaroo burger, fish and chips, chicken parmesan, and the Mac and cheese with truffle are all simply outstanding. Creative cocktail menu as well, and excellent wine list.
Great place to get a drink with friends. Menus is pretty unique as well.
Some exceptional courses in an eclectic menu that Australian-influenced and has Asian touches - akin to modern Ametican cuisine, with inventiveness. My chicken and lemongrass dumplings were outstanding, as was the braised lamb shank. My partner liked the black truffle Mac and Cheese and the Branzino special. The brownie desert was inventive and delicious, and they did a good variation on the famous Australian Pavlova desert. The location is on be called restaurant row in Stanford. The modern space has an industrial chic feel. Good food simply prepared, attentive wait staff, reasonably priced wines, and full of people on a Saturday night but not noisy. What’s not to like?
Been there twice. First time was an excellent experience with an interesting menu and great food. We were hoping this would be a new favorite place, but unfortunately like many other reviews here they are very inconsistent. On our second visit, the menu was little more than a bar menu with burgers and salads. The food we got was salty and over cooked. The service was inattentive. Their wine menu was also limited (no ausie wines?). We won’t be back. They need to decide if they are a bar or a restaurant.
Our waitress Natasha was very knowledgeable and made some wonderful suggestions for our meal. The Sloop juice bomb, a beer, was delicious if you like a tangy, not too bitter IPA. The Aussie full breakfast was a hit, loved the buttered mushrooms and the bacon was perfect. Follow your brunch with an irish coffee, they hand whip the cream for the top. It made for a cozy Saturday afternoon.
Excellent as usual
I expected the food to be better for the price. The ambience is good and the live jazz was nice for the holidays but the food was bland and nothing special given the prices.
Great food. Interesting menu. Server was not great. Enjoyed the experience though!
Enjoyed our dinner and drinks - everything was good and service was attentive. Cocktails were the highlight. Will be back soon.
Well run Aussie restaurant, great service , nice tasty food . Value is ok ,touch expensive
Great service and food. Our server Devun was exceptionally. A 20% gratuity was added without our knowledge. I wished they had mentioned, we were in a rush and left an additional 20%. We contacted the restaurant the next day and they immediately credited the extra tip.
I really wanted to like this place, the ambiance has a cool vibe and the music was good, but the service was not great and they forgot the entree of the two people that we were with so that was a little awkward. It was a salad.....
This was my third dining experience at Flinders. I would suggest it without hesitation but go early in the week so that the noise level will not make conversation difficult. The food is well prepared. One guest at our table ordered the kangaroo loin and found it a bit dry but said the sauce made a big difference. The kangaroo burger is quite tasty and the appetizer of chicken dumplings certainly satisfied my love of ginger.
Service was exceptional. There were four of us and we each ordered something different. No complaints. Food was tasty and quite good. Dessert was interesting. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
The food was very good, but it arrived after a very long wait even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy.
Chris (Owner) and Mary (Server) did a great job of making us feel at home. Food was excellent, we tried a bottle of Sparkling Shiraz which was surprisingly good. Dessert was off the charts.
This place can encompass multiple occasions. Great good and great drinks with a very knowledgeable staff.
Sausage rolls. Kangaroo burger with the best fries ever. Buttered mushroom toast with feta and a fried egg. Pavlova for dessert. Brunch done right. Just love this place.
Absolutely fabulous. Interiors. Music in the background. Service. Food. All exceptional. The veal meatballs, lamb and manchego croquettes, chicken and lemongrass dumplings, fish and chips, and chicken were all outstanding. The desserts are killer. One of the best restaurants in Stamford. The owner, Chris, is friendly and professional. He makes everyone feel as if they are home. Well done team at Flinders Lane.
Kangaroo was on menu - recommended for being super tender (was not), tasty (was overcooked so you couldn't tell. Prices on high side for what you got. Brussel Sprouts over grilled and yet tough - worst I've ever had.
We had a lovely meal here for our first time. Max the manager was really nice, helpful and made our visit particularly fun. Food was very good- especially loved the watermelon salad. Swordfish was very good. We will definitely return and explore more menu items.
Our first experience with Australian cuisine. Nice place. We even had Vegemite !
