I love flights. The food concept is great. I have been there 3 times. 1st time for lunch was a home run. 2nd time for dinner was fun but the server was overwhelmed. One order was forgotten altogether.
Yesterday the restaurant filled up and it appeared to be only one server. We felt bad for her. I observed two tables get up and walk out because they were tired of waiting.
Clearly everyone wants Flights to be successful but they need to hire more people or it will be out of business.
I made a reservation for 9 people for dinner. I arrived to be told that there were no tables in the main restaurant. I was told that I could go into the lounge with a couch and chairs using a coffee table to eat on! I had one child and several older people so that wasn’t an option. I had to look throughout the main dining room for an option for us. Something the hostess should have done in the first place. The beer flights were ridiculous...no selection! The food was good...the service wasn’t so much! I probably won’t go back. There are a lot of other options to choose in this area.
The restaurant took our reservation, but when we got there, they let us know that wait time for the kitchen now is an hour!! Not sure what they expected us to do with that information. A huge disappointment for the entire family on Mother's Day.
The restaurant was unstaffed and everything was an issues because of it. All food came out randomly of the course of an hour even though order at one time. Drinks came out staggered over 20 minutes. Had to get up 5 times to ask for normal items ( napkins, utensils, water, check, sauce)
The manager and bartender spent most of their time talking while the hostess bussed tables and ran food leaving the front empty.
The waitress was very confused, overwhelmed and soft spoken which was frustrating for everyone.
The manager should have been supporting all his staff not talking to patrons at the bar.
There was a lack of priority and lack of training through out.
The food came out randomly and we had to remind waitress of items missing 3 times.
Manager came and apologized at the end of the meal then the check took forever to come out and had to be requested twice.
Minimum discount given for horrible experience.
Food was good when it arrived.
2hr 30min dinner normally 45-60 min.
Two tables around us walked out. And 3 others had same experience.
They didn't have our OpenTable reservation although I had a confirmation in my mail. We where put at a table outside with was a bit chilly and quite noisy from traffic. The waitress showed off her memory skills by not writing down our order. Unfortunately that didn't work all the way into the kitchen. We where offered the wrong items three times and the forgot one entree which arrived way later. We didn't have to pay for the late entree, though. The general disorganization showed up on the tab as well, they forgot to put number of items there too, so we got an involuntary discount. We paid the waitress her fair tip since she really tried to do her part but we will never go back again, and we do not recommend anyone else to go there either.
When we got there the hostess completely overwhelmed and disappeared. They were over booked so we went next door to Double D's.
They had probably 20 people waiting to speak with a non existent hostess or manager.
We were there on mother’s day. While the kitchen was fairly quick the dining room staff was very slow, screwed up multiple orders at different tables, and were very confused on where to deliver food.
Food was decent - some dishes better than others. Kind of expensive for what you get though. We sat on the patio which was a nice atmosphere for Mother's Day dinner. But service wasn't great. We ran out of water and didn't get refilled for awhile, they forgot my mom's drink, and in general they were pretty slow in coming to check on us.
there was no one at the check in for 10 mins, took us another 20 to be seated, and they ran out of silverware and glassware. We just got up and left without eating.
I don’t normally write review, but I feel I must write this for one of my worst dining experience for an OpenTable reservation.
Went there for Mother’s Day with wife and 2 kids.
Was forced to pay for fix menu for all 4 persons including my 2 year old.
Was not even given a proper table, instead a low table with a sofa !!??
Fix menu was extremely over priced, for $42 per person ! And the food was not good, really.
Extremely disappointed as I have been many times to Hult’s before they changed to Flight.
I would advise people NOT to go to this restaurant.
My wife loves the atmosphere here so I like it too however, I am a serious meat and potato guy. The food was good though
Over hyped place with poor service and extremely pricey for such s small portion of food!! Never going back
Service was good and people working there were friendly, but the overall ambience is rather gimmicky. Portions were small for the price, which is what you get with tapas, but the food wasn’t interesting or unique, so it kind of just felt like paying 50% more for half servings of slightly better-than-average bar bites. They had an IPA flight and a craft beer flight, but the craft beer flight was lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, and sculpin, all IPAs, so not really sure what the difference there is.
Excellent food. Responsive, happy server. Great ambiance.
This is my fourth time visiting and eating here I really enjoyed every meal and your staff. Mother’s Day brunch was so delicious. I am not a falafel fan but my son loved it. Fusion flavors, savory yet light servings were filling.
We enjoyed our meal very much. Service was fast and the small plates we chose were delicious.
I met a friend for Saturday brunch at Flights Los Gatos. I did not realize the name referred to flights of alcohol ! So this restaurant is all about fancy alcoholic drinks, not about food. My caesar salad was kind of wilted, as if it had been made the night before. I suppose if I had three different types of champagne cocktails I would not have noticed. So great spot for a drinker, not so much for a foodie.
Service was very slow. Servers brought french fries first for the whole table and no other food for 15 minutes. Weird. Other dishes came slowly and sporadically, and all in our party commented the food was not great. One of us ordered a flight of sparkling wine, and it was served at room temperature as if it had just been unboxed. Road noise was also an issue, even inside. Won't be returning.
They changed the menu and now only offer a few flights. They offer small bites and by the time you've ordered enough food you've paid for equivalent to 3 entrees in another restaurant. The small bites were bland but the entrees were good.
Definitely worth going for dinner. The new menu is outstanding, lending itself perfectly for both sharing and single orders. This goes for the appetizers, and now also for the great new dinner choices in steak, salmon, chicken and shrimp: order one each and share in a group of 4 friends or pick individually.
Because of the Mercury New piece, I was aware of the menau change. The NEW Menau is an improvement, however no one mentioned the Happy Hour prices have disappeared, what a shame for us seniors.
This seems to be a new place but it is completely understaffed and disorganized. No host, no coordination, reservation was forgotten 5 minutes after we came and table was given away. We left after a few expensive drinks.
Great brunch menu! Wonderful food!
Nothing about the experience was worth the time or money. Really - just not a good time at all!
It was Easter Sunday. Only option for lunch was their tasting menu. Everything is one bite and portion is not enough for the guys. Restaurant was busy but not packed like most Easter Sunday brunch place I checked as I was able to book time I want. Service was slow and not attentive. Ordered coffee and didn't even bring a tea spoon, we had to ask them twice. Run out of decaf too. Probably won't be back.
Very slow service from the beginning to end. Dirty dishes on empty tables stayed there our entire night. Servers came with very heavy serving plates that were too hot to touch and rushed off to other tables because they had to set the heavy platters down before they burned themselves. No explanations about the different appetizers by the servers and the ‘captain’ was absent even when we pushed the call button many times. We had to call her over each time we wanted service. Poor management. The place has potential with the fun concept of ‘flights’ but I don’t see it succeeding without much improvement.
We got horrible service. The food was not in triples. We did not like the new menu selections. Flights has lost us as a patron.
Like the fights menus with three items in same category.
We were here
The waitress immediately named items they were out of so we selected other items. She returned to say they were also out of 2 of the 3 main ingredients for eggs benedict and would bring a combo of the one benedict with bacon and spinach. They brought roasted green peppers and BBQ pork w/o informing us. These substitutions were unappealing and I knew would provoke stomach issues. They told another guest they were out of Chardonnay, really?
Good idea regarding the "Flight" format, but food and service is mediocre at best. Staff was friendly, but seems like place could have used a couple of more people to ensure better/quicker service.
The service was a little slow, but other than that is was a really great evening and the drink flights were fantastic.
This was my first visit to the restaurant...and I would call it the Chili's of Los Gatos. The food was OK, the menus were atrocious (old and beat up, the photos did not do the food justice), the inside was a bit blase and hokey, and the service was fair. We dined in a day or 2 before their big menu change. This was not communicated very well since we had previously looked on the website. There should have been an asterik noting their menu was in transition. Also, many of their wine selections were out. I would return if that's where other people wanted to go, but for a fun night out with good food, I'd go somewhere else.
Calamari wasn’t very appetizing as it was rubbery and batter was underdone. Salad was good and fresh. Pizza was ok although its topping was somewhat dry and over done. Drinks were pretty however wan’t as tasty as they looked. Service was fair. We were expecting a more prompt service considering its ‘service button’ system. It would’ve been nice to be served by more customer friendly flight attendants. Not sure if they were having an off night. It’s unlikely that we will return.
I always enjoy Flights- the food, the drinks, the ambience. I can't seem to order anything but the Ahi Tuna flight, because it's so delicious. Always fresh, and the different sauces are so good. I've tried other things, like the veggie tacos, the fries, the pizza- all good....but the Ahi has a hold on me. The cocktails are good, too..and they don't skimp on the alcohol. I understand there will be a menu change next month, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new items. (I was told the Ahi, slightly changed, will still be on the menu- yay). We had excellent service, too. A great place, especially if you go from noon- 5pm, as everything is 25% off. But even if you can't eat that early, it's still worth dining there. And the outdoor seating is really nice.
Clever idea, everything served in “ flights” of three. Even better, the food is very well and creatively prepared. We loved especially the Mac and cheese flight, the ahi tuna, BBQ, and fries flights. Even th3 drinks come that way— beers, cocktails and of course, wines. Perfect for groups who like to share.
Nice dining....A little too loud… But Unfortunately I am getting used to that in restaurants that I have been going to lately.
Food was good! The only thing they had I would say is that the tables are too small for all the food that is put on the table. The table becomes too crowded between the flights of drinks and the flights of food....especially a table for two. Great service!
Food was just OK for the price. Lots of variety though for sampling. Drink flights were interesting, but average quality compared to a good bar drink. If you are into the novelty eating/drinking style of this place, then great for you. For me, trying it out once was enough. I can get much better quality and value at my usual eating/drinking spots. I do have to mention that the service was quite good. What is about this $5 additional charge for the kitchen crew? Flights should be paying for their compensation and benefits, not me, especially since this place is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.
Flights is in a great location in Los Gatos and is a fun atmosphere for a weekend dinner date. I wasn’t blown away by the menu but liked the simplicity of ordering small plates to share (everything comes in threes). We enjoyed the empanadas and sliders. I also had the sparkling wine flight which was yummy but not overly special. I think it’s a step up from a sports bar but a few steps below fine dining. Best enjoyed with friends for a casual meal or drinks.
I wouldn’t recommend- smelled like a bar. Lots of bar food.
