Flight Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
This is a great place to have a drink and maybe a small bite. I would not recommend for dinner or if you’re really hungry. The choices are very small and limited. I am not picky but still had a hard time picking something to eat. Food was just okay. Service was great and the waiters help you choose the right wine to suit your taste.
I found the service to be unaccommodating and shockingly rude. Throughout the evening my party and I were told that half of the menu was unavailable because the restaurant was unwilling to open new bottles of wine. This was quite confounding given that Flight is a wine bar. Even worse, while we were finishing our final glasses of wine, we were told that they were closing for the evening and we needed to leave. The manager even walked over to us to say that he turned the lights on because he wants everyone to leave. For the record, it was 11pm on Saturday.
I have never been disrespected or spoken to like this in a restaurant before, especially by an establishment that attempts to come off as sophisticated and elegant. The behavior shown to us was neither of the two, rather Flight proved that it was unprofessional, cheap, and undeserving of any business from patrons of Washington.
The wine was good and the flight options had interesting combinations, but there are better options in Chinatown. The cheeseboard was small for the price, but the selection was nice. I would recommend for a drink with a colleague, but it wouldn't be what I'd call a lively drinks-after-work spot.
This place is outstanding! The design and theme of the restaurant are subtle and flow well together. I highly recommend it for quiet happy hours, dates and general catching up. I strongly urge you to give control over your wine selection to the excellent staff. The flights they have are creative and amazing to explore.
Everything about Flight is solid. Service was pleasant, flights of wine were really fun, and the food was quite good, albeit not necessarily for foodies. It was a great place to grab dinner before a play. The room was a bit noisy, but not too bad. Good place to try different wines. Treat the dinner options more like tapas and share over some interesting vino and you'll have a fun night.
Perfect place for wine lovers! The selection of flights is extensive and the service was excellent. We loved our food, especially the farro dish which was sort of a risotto, quite unusual. Our only wish would be for a more extensive food selection although we did like what we had.
The wine selection was fantastic and we were pleased with what we ordered, but the flights come in glass ramekins, making it almost impossible to enjoy the aroma. After my flight, I ordered a wine by the glass to get a proper glass, but it came in a cheap glass tumbler. When I asked if I could have stemware, the server quickly obliged. However, it's disappointing that Flight serves such a great wine list in such poor glassware.
The super knowledgeable staff will guide your through the extensive list of wine choices and over 20 flights. There are so many interesting options and some really unique choices like the Balkan flight which includes a Portuguiser from Serbia that was a highlight.
I arrived early for my reservation at Flight and they weren't quite open yet. I was so thankful that the manager on duty noticed me standing outside and came over and let me in from the cold. Even though it was a good 15 minutes before they were supposed to open, the manager sat me down, gave me a menu, and gave me a free sample of a wine that she recommended. That was just the start of an entire evening of great service. I was so impressed by their attentiveness! Food is also delish and the wine is outstanding. Definitely recommend.
Three of us went. We split the 5 cheese/meat board. Got 4 cheeses and one ham. It was delicious - came with great jams and mustards as an accompaniment. One of us got the Ravioli Doppio with all the seafood - she loved it. The other two of us got the blue cheese gnocchi and it was pretty underwhelming.
Dessert was the panacotta with strawberry air and it was delicious.
Service was attentive and super sweet. The design of the place is nice but it's a tad loud.
The food and wine flights were very good for the most part. That said, it is hard to get enough to eat. Main dinner entrees are very small and appetizers are small and expensive. I hadn't ordered dessert in years, but had to here because i was still hungry. The octopus small plate, both desserts, and the rose wine flight was very good. The wine flights are a lot of fun and the waitress was very knowledgeable . Every mussel and clam on the pasta dish was actually undercooked, i.e., nearly raw. While I appreciate they didn't overcook it, a quick glance should have told the chef they weren't cooked.
I was 20 minutes late because my friend with whom I was dining before the theatre had an emergency at home. The restaurant kindly seated me at a pleasant table and I had a lovely quick dinner of assorted cheeses, arugula, nuts, apple butter, and buttery toasts, with a flight of white wine. The service was attentive and understanding. I had to rush to get to the theatre but they accommodated that too.
This is my second time going to Flight and it did not disappoint. The wine and tapas were delicious and the service friendly and timely. Also the ambiance of this place is elegant with a friendly atmosphere that makes this a great wine bar to go to for a Saturday or any night really.
Flight's experience begins right when you walk into the door. Low lighting coupled with an energetic staff beckons diners and drinkers alike to enjoy themselves in this comfortable atmosphere. Whether bar or table, you're assisted by knowledgeable waitstaff who are true artists of their crafts. Feel free to pick one of the predetermined flights of wine, customize your own or leave it up to the connoisseur for a treat for your palette. Speaking as a fairly naive wine consumer, Flight wasn't interested in shoving the most expensive wine's down my throat, but rather, educating me on what I was drinking, getting to know my preferences, and taking off from there. What a neat experience for an individual, couple or group of people looking to enjoy their time in a nice space. Kudos to owners, wine-o experts and staff.
